The reason why i was preferring mb grade oil is bcoz it contains friction modifiers which will reduce friction more then ma or ma2 grade oil.

have never used the ax7 on the dio but used it on other motorcycles. Its a good oil too. But i feel that shell ax5 is more vfm and does a good job.Originally posted by suj View PostOk bro..what's your opinion on shell ax7, gulf pride 4t plus and valvoline champ 4t 20w40.

replace oil every 2500km and the scoot will be just fine. As for the other oil brands, I haven't used them..and i think they will be ok too. What's important is regular oil change with appropriate grade.. most oils will do their duty without complaining on these small scoots.
No it is not.Originally posted by Ram Shankar Ramasamy View PostHi guys.
Is it possible to fix telescopic front forks of aviator/activa125 into Activa 110.

Yes it is possible, but asc won't do that ,you have to find experienced local mechanic..it is Labour intensive work with a lot of modifications..Originally posted by Ram Shankar Ramasamy View PostHi guys.

Re: Honda Dio, Activa and Aviator
nope, never had any cold starting issues till date. i live in Hyderabad (i leave it up to you to decide if its 'cold')and the dio's first start of the day is always around 4.30-5am.
and i mostly use the kick on cold starts, but now i ride the dio less often and my dad who uses it for short runs always uses the selfstart.. never had a problem either ways.

One sad news,
My Activa 2005 model got stolen, 12 days already past, already reported to police immediately after this incident.
Mostly my sister was riding all the time.
And just few months engine work was done. Infact , it was running better than new after such an excellent engine job.

No, Not possible at all.Originally posted by Freak inExile View PostApparently, more than just a coincidence, don't you think?
1. He is some 10-12 kms far away from my home.
2. He doesn't know where I live and my sister's workplace.
3. He earns 3-4 times more in a month than present value of Activa.
1% Probability can still be considered in the above case.
2 weeks back before incidence activa was serviced at Honda ASC. The service advisor was surprised to see the oil condition on 2800kms run oil. He said its just 700-1000km old and no need to change. So, I had to speak to him to change it.
10% probability to above.?
I am still waiting for police to start taking action. CC TV clip can be easily obtained for that parking area.

A new TVS Wego of a college junior of mine was thieved during daylight when he left keys in it and took groceries inside. I didn't ask how he followed it up with the police of Vijayanagar(BLR).
He bought another one.~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

sorry to hear about this unfortunate incident.Originally posted by Lokesh027 View PostI am still waiting for police to start taking action. CC TV clip can be easily obtained for that parking area.
forget your assumptions on who would have stolen it.. get the cctv footage ASAP (in most cases cctv footages are overwritten over a period of time due to limited disk space, at some places its as low as 3 days and up to a month of retention) and try to have police really involved.
Did it have insurance ?

How does one come to know that the rr unit has 'given up'. What are the symptoms if I may ask ?Originally posted by s1d View PostLook so to me, haven't been able to as with 'zip boosters') was launched. I did manage to get...ive odo has breached the 50k mark !
And the only significant piece of equipment that gave up over these past 8 yrs of my ownership of the dio was its RR unit a couple of months ago. A new one was around 500rs IIRC... motul's 3100
(because I found the info on the forum on this particular problem a bit confusing)

Re: Honda Dio, Activa and Aviator
With any cheap multimeter ( voltage-ohm meter commonly used in hobby electronics ) test the voltage at the battery terminals with the bike kept idling and also when revved . If the voltage you see is varying around 12v DC to 14.5v DC , RR is okay . i.e it is rectifying the AC current generated by the bike's alternator to DC , and also regulating it to the correct voltages needed to charge the battery .
yes very unfortunate indeed , and damn bad that it had to be when the bike's running very nice . Hopefully , you'll get some insurance reimbursement ?Originally posted by Lokesh027 View Post.. Re: Honda Dio, Activa and Aviator
A rr unit that's given up will cause you battery to go dead. If you recharge the battery, it will again go dead in a couple of days.Originally posted by curve_king View PostHow does one come to know that the rr unit has 'given up'. What are the symptoms if I may ask ?

And that leaves you wondering 'yeh kya hora'
So Pinaki pointed out, you will need a basic multimeter to check the voltages at the battery.
a. attach the multimeter leads to the respective battery terminals and check the voltage with the bike on idle... voltage should be around 12.5 to 13V
b. rev the engine to around 5000rpm, and you should see the voltage increase by around 1V, i.e. to around 14V
If the voltage is not going up, then you might have a faulty RR unit.
Now remember, a faulty stator coil might also cause the battery to go dead, and hence a simple way to know if its the RR unit or not would be to swap it with a working one from another bike and measure the voltages as mentioned above.
