Re: Happy SZ-R Owner and newbie on XBHP
Now thats interesting. I literally bugged Yamaha India, with the poor mileage and average disc brake (Only the case with my bike) few months back. I wrote them long email about how this bike can excel if some of the tid-bids are fixed. I dont know whether they really took it seriously or not, but looking at it, looks like they are responding.Originally posted by ryano8 View Post

One suggestion, You can post your mileage problem in "Help me" section. There are quite knowledgeable persons like sibun, paul, pinaki and many others, who have been messing around with their bikes for decadesOriginally posted by jammbuster View PostMileage 39 to 40 kmpl.. which is very sad...

As far as I can remember, there can be issues with valve clearances, carb, Spark plug clearance which can most commonly result in low mileage.
Activas I dont think give more than 45 KMPL in Delhi traffic so do your maths this time before purchasing new vehicle. For ex, with my daily running of 30 KMs ie 620 KMs in month ( 22 days * 30 KMs) I would spend 15.5 ltrs ( mileage of 40 KMPL ) and 13.77 ltrs ( with mileage of 45 KMPL) in one month. Now assuming petrol price of 70 rs per liter, expenditure difference comes out to be 122 rs. are 122 rs significant
???

Re: Happy SZ-R Owner and newbie on XBHP
Yes I was interested....but I then had a look at Honda's offering. Twister returns mileage upward of 67 KMPL which is just awesome on Delhi roads !!! While driving it, it does not feel like 100 cc bike, it loves to run on speeds of 60-70 KMPH quite happily.Originally posted by jammbuster View PostThanks Buddyy.... Re: Happy SZ-R Owner and newbie on XBHP
Try posting your problem in help me section. As per Yamaha, SZR must give mileages hovering around 50 KMPL...personally I feel, mileage is criteria in which yamahas gets screwed big time. But does mileage matter to rider ??? Only if, bike is used for long distance commutes on daily basis.Originally posted by jammbuster View PostGood Choice i must say.. i am not at all happy with this bike... i must better opt for Stunner or Ignitor at that time .. but i made a mistake...

But not even the mileage but have you considered its spare part cost with bajaj and or with hero... my god its way to expensive, i recently paid 800rs for normal service which include one air filter of amount 350rs.

Bro, please correct me if I am wrong. I did some maths for you.Originally posted by jammbuster View PostI purchased this bike on mindset some how i will recd atleat 44-45kmpl daily as per my daily route which is total of 70 km.

Daily run: 70 KMs
Monthly run : 70*26 days ( assuming weekdays mon to sat)= 1820 KMs. Lets assume total run of 2000 KMs that would include weekend rides too.
Petrol consumption:
40 KMPL ( your actual mileage) : 50 Ltrs petrol
45 KMPL( your desired mileage ) : 44.44 Ltrs
Montly Petrol expenditure ( with pterol price of 68.58 rs pler liter) :
40 KMPL - 3429 rs.
45 KMPL - 3047 rs.
Expenditure difference : 382 rs
I can suggest you one thing, make excel sheet and try to figure out how much you would save with mileages of 40,45,50,55. If savings for particular mileage are worth considering, then you can look for bikes that give mileages in that range.

Re: Happy SZ-R Owner and newbie on XBHP
If mileage was you main criteria then you should not have gone for a 150cc bike like sz-r... Any 150cc, mileage hovers around 50kmpl if it is properly taken care of.. So in your case you should have gone for 100cc like twister or if you need a bit more power 125cc. No use regretting now..Originally posted by jammbuster View PostI purchased this bike on mindset some how i will recd atleat 44-45kmpl daily as per my daily route which is total of 70 km.

Anyway about your bike, visit a good mechanic and check sparkplug, air filter, timing, afr and check the chain for any slack and adjust if necessary... I hope you maintain correct air pressureu in your tires and change engine oil as recommended... Fix all these and you should get a 3-5kmpl boost.. Still if it's the same, try changing petrol bunk..
Hope this help.. Good luck
