Re: Yamaha FZ-16/ FZ-S
Here is my opinion on MRF Revz-M after riding 500kms.
On stock Revz:
Even though the tyre didn't suffer any major punctures till 28K kms, it caught up with 5 minor punctures one after another and I thought it's best time to replace the tyre itself.
The ride quality was awesome with it and didn't have any complaints frankly (till 28K punctures).
On new Revz-M:
* Bought it for 3300 from JC road
* Pattern looked similar to the stock tires, though, the shape isn't as flat as stock tyre. It's bit rounded at the edges.
* Ride quality has gone worse
I could feel all the minor bumps and pits which didn't irritate me that much while running on stock tyres.
* I'm using the same pressure suggested for the stock (33 psi)
* Don't think service center guys touched the mono-cross adjustment as I didn't raise any complaint.
* IMO, the Revz-M is pretty hard and is giving a bad ride quality when compared to stock Revz
Will be taking the bike to service center and ask them to tune the suspension to softer side a bit and check.
BTW, today I had to replace my 4th clutch cable at 29K kms
First at 8.7K kms, 2nd at 13.7K kms, 3rd at 20.6K kms and 4th at 29K kms.

Re: Yamaha FZ-16/ FZ-S
Yes. Ride feels a bit bumpy with Revz-M . The MRF authorised guy told me that the optimal air pressure for this tyre is 40psi! I have tried with 40, 38, 36, 35, 33 and 30 psi. As per my experience, 30 is too less and 40 is too much. At 30 the ride is sluggish, and at 40 psi its too bumpy. Currently I've been been riding with 35psi and i feel its optimum. But yes , it isn't as comfy as the stock one.
Waiting to hear from the fellow members about Revz-Y ,supposed to be hardest of the lot.

IMO, 40 psi is too much for Revz-M. The stock Revz was suggested with 33psi. 40 psi could be the max inflation pressure.Originally posted by sachin_v View PostYes. Now that, the flat contact got reduced to rounded one, the volume of the tyre should have also got reduced. So, the pressure should be reduce further from 33 psi for better ride quality. Still, I feel the rubber compound is harder than the stock Revz due to which all the shocks are getting directed to the rider.

Re: Yamaha FZ-16/ FZ-S
My brake light is not working. The brake switch is not a problem Since its not working for disc brake also. But it does lit up with the headlamp switch. Does the bulb contain 2 filaments? what could be the fault?sigpic

Re: Yamaha FZ-16/ FZ-S
If the brake switch is damaged, bulb will not glow when you apply brakes. When you switch on the pilot lamp, the tail light bulb will lit up, that is how it is suppose to be.Originally posted by GauravB728 View PostMy brake light is not working. Re: Yamaha FZ-16/ FZ-S
Thanks for the reply! But there are two brake switches one each for front & rear and there is a rare chance of both of them going kaput simultaneously. Thats why I had mensioned its not a brake switch problem.Originally posted by devils_friend View PostIf the brake switch is damaged, bulb will not glow when you apply brakes. Anyways the problem is solved. Changed the tail light bulb. It has 2 filaments the upper one(Brake light) gave way.sigpic

Re: Yamaha FZ-16/ FZ-S
Try Fully Synthetic oils from Motul, Gulf, Veedol. Check oil level at every 1000kms. Drain the oil at around 3500-4000kms.Originally posted by Raakhesh Varshan View PostCan anyone suggest me some engine oil for my FZ-S in which I always go for lng rides ?

Planning to get Yamaha FZ-S
Hi All,
I am planning to get Yamaha FZ-S for this Dasara.
I am 5.5, weighs about 63 and I stay in Bangalore.
Need to get a bike for long rides (also for city roads) which has an average mileage and good on performance. So thought FZ-S would suit my requirements.
This is my first bike but I have enough experience in maintaining bikes as I started riding from 16(dad's and frd's bikes)
Please advise on the good Yamaha showrooms in Bangalore. Also advise on what all stuff is required to get a new bike in Bangalore.
I appreciate any suggestions before ordering the bike.
Regards,
Sandeep

Re: Yamaha FZ-16/ FZ-S
Seems to me like fake, cause the one given on google images or any other site is different. PLz tell me i'm wrong.Originally posted by arijitmaniac View PostSince you are throttle-happy (loved that phrase
) you should go for a semi-synthetic or synthetic oil.
These oils are better at protecting your engine especially during high temperatures and high rpms. These oils are also ideal if you ride in a hot environment.
The store-guy is right. The stock oil in R15 is Yamahalube Semi-Synthetic. But a far better option would be Motul oils.
Not including mineral you have three options from Motul
Motul 5100 4T 15W50 (Semi-synthetic) - Good for moderate to heavy thrashing - Costs abt 550 INR in Bangalore
Motul 7100 4T 15W50 (Synthetic Single-ester) - Good for heavy thrashing - Costs abt 750INR
Motul 300V Factory Line 15W50 (Synthetic Double-ester) - Best oil for heavy thrashing and very hot riding conditions- Costs abt 950INR
I'm using the 5100 15W50 and will switch to 7100 15W50 on my next service. Personally I feel the 5100 is very good and it has made a noticeable difference to my engine (felt by me as well as my friends).
I've not used other brands of engine oils so I wouldn't be able to comment on them. But I've heard that Castrol Power1 4T, Shell Advanced Ultra etc are also very good oils.
You can decide based on your needs.
Cheers!!

Re: Yamaha FZ-16/ FZ-S
What does make you feel its fake? The sticker on the oil can? The newer packing's have the same one. I usually buy from the authorized Motul dealer & the bottle looks exactly the same like you have posted.Originally posted by Aakash Singh View PostSeems to me like fake, cause the one given on google images or any other site is different.
