muztariq.. AFAIK, Yamaha spares are not available at shops anywhere around Mumbai, have seen Bajaj, TVS, Honda. That is why, if one needs to replace any part, the only option we have is the SVC.

Cheerz!!

That is sad. I don't know why Yamaha spares are not available at automobile spare shops in mumbai. We get them in almost every automobile shops in chennai. The only spare which we don't get is Suzuki's motorcyles spares only in SVC.

'O' ring & 'X' ring type does not have open link because they are completely different from normal sliding chains. One u got is a non O ring type please don't use such type they elongate more with continuous operation on long drives & due to no chain guard it is difficult to maintain. Rolon x ring type chain is good for Fz16 if stock is not available .It costs 1150 in Hyderabad

Thanks all.. I think this is safe to use. It looks lighter than the stock. Harley is running on belt. This is metal. Just consoling myself
Anyways, its experience for the future. Are we sure this is not o-ring and stock is O-ring. Have read somewhere in the manual that it is.. which makes me happy, as it would give me chance to go back to stock sooner.

Hi Friends,

I planned to purchase Yamaha fzs but I am much attracted with the front view of Fazer. From the Yamaha website and showrooms I got the information as the engine specifications and tuning is same for both fzs and fazer so both will provide the same mileage. But I am hearing from my friends who bought it around 3 years back that Fazer gives around 5kmpl less mileage than FZS. Is it true? Is it due to any of these reasons or anything else?
1. Additional weight at front along with the aerodynamic design at front?
2. Is it something like when FZ, FZS and Fazer were launched initially they had different engine tuning like high low end power i.e higher pickup etc.so the mileage was affected. due to which my friend may be getting less mileage. Not sure of this one.

Help me in getting the information on mielage difference b/w FZS and Fazer along with some suggestions.

Thanks in advance.

Yes you are right. Initially the tuning was less towards mileage. Newer ones are giving more.. some claim 50 km/l.
Fazer is more heavy and there would be 2 km/l difference between these models. Though I love the fairing but 200 ns cost is so close to fazer that fairing advantage of fazer is negated. Its fzs or 200 ns now.

Was at the SVC and I enquired about the chain type of FZ. Firstly, he did not understand when i asked about the chain type. When i told him whether it is O-Ring type or X-Ring type, he paused for few seconds and said "X type hai". Not really sure about his reply.

• Underbody Damage

Hi,

I might just be a bit whimsical here. About a month ago my yamaha fazer's front wheel hit a metal piece ( Abt 6 - 7 inches in size) which then ricocheted off the underside of the engine-area underside of the bike. Since then I have been experiencing sluggish throttle response, engine shutting off while in motion, and bike is not operating as smoothly as before. Could it be because of underbody damage or this is just a whim on my part? FYI I also completed one day to and fro mahabaleshwar run totalling 525kms in last month before this problem started to crop up. Last service was on 24th Feb.

Thanks in advance !

X-ring type is used in high performance motorcycles and is more like an advanved version of O-ring type. Both these have internal lubricating property.
X-ring is more expensive than O-ring.
Our bike has O-ring type chain.

Hello guys,

I am a recent Honda CB Trigger owner, still posting in this thread because CB Trigger thread has almost no active members.
Thus wanted to have your views on one query regarding 'Run in' period, which is common for all bikes.

I have done around 330 km as off now and I have read somewhere that the engine oil should be changed at around this time and postponing the first servicing to 600-650km.
Do you recommend this ?? Will this at all help in better run in??
I found this quite logical as this will remove any metal parts scrapped off during first few kilometers.

Please advice

I don't think the oil change is required so early. What does manual say? Generally the oil change is required around 750 kms when you do your first service.
Maintain proper engine rpm during run in that has a higher effect than the oil change. Stick to owner's manual.

A strange problem cropped up two days back. I neglected it, hoping it won't happen again but resurfaced again today.
The button start stopped working when the engine was hot. Once I allowed it to cool down for few minutes, the starter was back in action again. Has anybody faced similar problem? What could be the reason? When I pressed the switch it felt like it had been removed from the circuit. All other electricals are fine which makes me think the battery is fine.
Bike is 6 months old and 11.5 k on ODO.

Starter relay might be the culprit.I had similar problem and changing the relay solved the problem.

I paid 430 indian rupees.Here in nepal.
It must be cheap there in India around half of what i paid.

Yesterday while lubing the chain, I noticed that the slackness is different at different points. I think because the chain adjusting nuts are set different on both sides. I have ridden around 2.7k in this condition. Saturday I'm taking it to svc for 5th service, will get it corrected that time. But I want to know what effect this would have made on the chain life?

Also, as per manual at 12k kms Spark plug & Air filter element needs replacement and steering & swing arm greasing needs to be done.
All this is really required? Please advice.
