    Thicker oil gives stiffer suspension.

    Each side takes 500 ml.

Yamaha now recommends a change interval of 15k km per new manual.

I talked to yamaha svc head yesterday he told me that fork rods develop scratches as they get older, therefore we use mixture of oil.
And i think Thicker oil will have negative effect on rod, correct me if i'm wrong.

It won't have any negative effect on forks. Only thing will be that, the travel of forks will have some sort of resistance from oil.

I bought it from local market here in Mundra, Gujarat.
It costs something 20 rs/piece. you can find it online on ebay or shopclues by searching SMD 5050 or something like that...

Your choice with which you want to go. I have never changed the oil to heavier grade, so don't know how well will it perform.

Posting here after being inactive for about 4 years
FZ has been doing well in the daily commute approaching 70k kms

Did a big service at 52k kms from Shinrai Yamaha Kundanoor. during which the mechanic told me that and vacuum piston of the carb was showing signs of wear.
i asked them to change it next time. Later on after around 5k kms there was missing and rpm wouldn't come down easily.
Gave it to SVC again and changed the Choke cable and vacuum piston. I never used choke thus the choke cable was disconnected at all times since people used to fiddle with it in the office parking lot. But SVC told me that the issue will only be solved if i put a new choke cable also. GOD knows why. they also told me that my AFR screw is stuck. i was ok with it since there was no tuning needed.

Later on after 3k kms same missing happened. decided not to give it to svc and i removed the card and cleaned it thoroughly saw a lot of dirt coming by the butterfly valve shaft. SVC din clean it when i asked them during the vacuum piston replacement episode.

Well after fitting back the issue was resolved but i made a mistake and the engine was running very very rich. couldn't figure out the cause and i decided to visit Yamaha at Thopumpady without even hearing my problem and the cause which led to it he Service advisor said the carb needs to be replaced damage nearing 6k rs.

Later on i called my friend at Harley who used to work at Yamaha and he asked me to bring my bike.
Due to lack of time i couldn't go there and later decided to give the bike at Shinrai Yamaha itself

                  NOW STARTS THE STORY

I go there in the morning.
wait in the line and when my turn comes a guy comes to me and asks if its general service.
i explain the whole problem. He calls the main service advisor.
The guys comes and asks him to rev it at 100% throttle black smoke comes indicating of very rich mix.

I was shocked to hear his reply

"There is lot of carbon deposit and to solve it we need to take the bike to and open ground and apply full throttle for sometime so that call gets cleared and the issue will also be solved"

i tell him i have already done decarb once around 10k kms back. He doesn't have anything to say.

They guy takes the job card form and asks me "what should be write in that :O"
i tell him that i need the bike and il bring it some other time.

calls my friend at Harley he asks me not to give at shinrai Yamaha.
He sends me to a workshop that does mainly Yamaha's These people are ex-yamaha technicians

They listen to my issue and tells me that they will check it and clean the carb.

Evening i go there and see the bike at the same place upon inquiring they ask me to go for a test drive and voila hes back .
they said there was an issue with the position of the slide. and i asked how much they guy hesitatingly replied 200rs. i give him 300 and he dosent accpets it and gives me back 100.

For the Cochin guys looking for a alternative to service centers i am attaching their card

I think it's the problem with all yamaha svc. Know yamaha is not what used to be it gone from enthusiastic level to common. A week ago yamaha's area manager called me. He told me that sir we don't tell people to replace things because they think yamaha is fraud and changing the part to churn money from customer. Because of those bastard the people who want to take care their bike suffers. And there technician are just doesn't care what the problem is with bike. They just live the life of negligence. Only thing they know is just to replace the the part they have no knowledge how to repair it.

                      Hello guys,
After 5 years and 10 months almost the battery is showing signs of its end, therefore I got an Amaron 9AH battery. If anyone installed the same, a pictorial presentation regarding the fitment and cut outs of required area of the battery holder will be a lot of help. Need to fit the battery ASAP.
                      Thanks in advance.

9AH won't fit FZ. Stock location don't have enough space. Have to remove air filter box and weld custom cage for installation.

                            Hey folks!

What is to be done in "servicing" of Fz FI 2.0?

                            - Oil Change
                            - Oil filter
                            - Chain Clean ( WD 40 / Diesel? )
                            - Chain Lube ( Suggest me a one, Motul/3M/ TVS Tru?)
                            - Bike Wash ?
                            - ?

What should be done to clear the deposits (junk?) inside and such. I'm still learning how to deal with FI ( ) systems.

Do tell me any major DIY hacks that I can perform with this machine.

                            Cheers!

                              As of FZ v1,
                              - Oil change every 70 days or 3k km for mineral oil.
                              - Oil filter every 10k km.
                              - Diesel/kerosene/turpentine or pressure wash for chain clean.
                              - VFM is 90 grade gear oil, then Tribocor chain spray, then TVS and OKS, expensive comes the Motul. From brands used so far, Tribocor holds the most, but is oily and leaves residue all over alloys like gear oil. Motul leaves the least debris, but holds way less in rain.

                              More specific V2 ownership>>http://www.xbhp.com/talkies/motorcyc...ion-2-0-a.html

I'm planning to buy a Yamaha FZ 16 and sell my Royal Enfield Electra 350. Um starting to dislike it because of the vibration, high maintenance, poor speeding capability). FZ 16 is an old model but I see that people are still buying it. Besides, I love its looks, seating comfort and the handling. May be not a smart decision but my mind is swaying towards FZ16
