Sorry i was away in weekend.Originally posted by k2cool_87 View Postrusting already?? dats not good??? i think ur bike is new too rite???
Ya it was rusting and i dont know why Yamaha is putting such ordinary iron nuts in places where its prone to rusting and especially FZ without a kicker makes this dangerous combination.
Vaseline wont affect any current flow?Originally posted by jd666 View Postput some petroleum jelly or battery jelly or good old vaseline on the nut, it wont rust in the future.
The rust could be due to the current flow too.---------------------

Vaseline wont affect any current flow?All manufacturers use the bolts of the same material, more or less. All lead acid batteries' terminals must be protected by petroleum jelly, vaseline or battery jelly. The terminals corrode because of the fumes that are attracted to the positive terminal in particular.Originally posted by RanjithMN View Posthey,you are talking abt the batt.connecting screw right?where exactly is it located?
So it's actually the service centre's responsibility to check these things at each service.
@RanjithMN
The battery screw is on each of the battery's terminals.

Thnks for the reply jd666Originally posted by jd666 View Post@pali - the saree guard is a homologation requirement, It can be removed. Though yes the RTO might not accept it.
@denzil - Get the chain washed with petrol , then remove the excess with a water blast, and pressurized air. Then either use normal engine oil to lubricate, or else use the chain lube spray that comes. The chain is made by ROLON, so no issues even if you lubricate with oil, it will work fine ( as advised by a svc engineer).
Avoid washing the bike more than once in a week. It will only encourage rusting. Appreciate and practice the art of wax/polish, wiping, cleaning. I get my bikes washed once a month. For me a dirty bike would anyday be better than a bike thats rusting in places.
I heard tht when chain is cleaned using petrol the life of it will decrease it seems is tht right?PHP Code:Denzil

Ranjith i understand tht the pickup will decrease with a pillion but the issue am facing is the drastic difference... i have to throttle it hard to reach 80 with pillion and time taken is too long tht is wat am concerned abt! And also to reach 100+ with pillion takes a long time and need a good stretch if am alone it goes to 100+ easily.....
What will be the cost of Motuls chain lube and cleaner ?PHP Code:Denzil

chain clean costs 450 and the lube costs 480!! Bro you please get your chain slackness checked.With a pillion the chain gets tightened up,make sure there is enogh slack even with a pillion...A tight chain can wear off the sprocket as well as itself!!Originally posted by Denzil View PostRanjith i understand tht the pickup will decrease with a pillion but the issue am facing is the drastic difference... i have to throttle it hard to reach 80 with pillion and time taken is too long tht is wat am concerned abt! When the bike passes through bad roads,I can hear some 'tak-tak' sound from somewhere near the rear wheel.The sound level has increased since a day. Anyone else experiencing this problem? It seems as if two metallic parts are rubbing/hitting against each other.Its an FZ 16.Last edited by S_FI; 11-17-2009, 12:50 PM.senior member

Chain, oil seal.
Guys has anyone experienced Chain problems and Oil seal leak?
My FZ chain is always getting loose and needs to be tightened. The mechanic says that he cannot adjust more but has to cut the chain to make it shorter by removing two joints (whatever its called
).
Also the oil seal of my two front forks is leaked. Can anyone tell me the warranty period of the oil seals? How much does it costs?
It got leak about a month back but never had to time for servicing. And it got worse after I accidently fell on a ditch of 5 feet depth without falling sideways on the ground almost 2 weeks back
.
Anybody experienced the same problem? (I meant the bike not the rider
)

@Devilboy.....
how much kms have you done in your FZ? Normally, chain will last for 18-20k kms only..after that it will become loose no matter how often you tighten it..as your mechanic said, you can use the chain by removing joints and using it....also you can remove the chain and front sprocket completely and re-fit the chain and front sprocket in reverse direction(turn the sprocket and fit it..turn the chain upside down and fit it)by this the chain may last for another 2k kms without getting loose often...
i dono about front fork oil seals..get it to yr dealer.
