Motul chain lube cost 450 at the SVC and 510 at Auto Queen
my friend got it he told its a black can and the person out there told that its the new stock or version something
What is the difference from the old lube and the new lube which is coming
is he reffering to factory line lube
what is the difference beteween Motul Factory line and the normal lube
no, loosing 3-4 psi in a matter of week is not normal.... check for any minute punctures, some debry launched in the tyre or any rim bends...

i dont think that there will be any difference in the two... only the packaging should be different...

      • Not topping out as before

Guys - I have done 115 kmph as a top speed (on a straight road - and didnt feel safe to go ahead )

But, today, I was doing a trial run (for the upcoming saddlesore1000).
And, at NICE road (pretty good patches)
after about 40-50 minutes of riding through city (from my home to NICE road TOLL)
I observed ,that this time the bike didnt want to go above 110kmph.
Its red lines fine in other gears- but at 5 th gear - it behaves wierdly -( like going on reserve !)

        Things changed / same:
Tire pressure checked! (last time it was fine, and this time also - I have Nitrogen in my tires - filled in last week (saturday).
Second service was - in between the two runs (one with 115 tops and the one now)
One more thing - the chain was dry this time- very dry! ( I had completed some 500 kms on the bike since 2nd service - but, I had not lubed the chain yet)

        mileage-
before - it was consistently 41 kmpl +/- 1 kmpl
now- twice till now it has returned 43 kmpl and 42 kmpl

Bike has done 2500kms (in 4 months).

        Any advice?

I have got one week, to do any change (If I can do it by myself)

        Thanks,

        Ace.
I wish, I would be paid by the word! :p

        • Hey i am not sure what is the reason try lubeing your chain but a dry chain wont make the bike beheave as in reserve when you ripping it in 5th gear
all the best for the ss1000 after you finish it you must write a detailed review with pictures

NICE Road is extremely windy and at some points in NICE Road my Fazer(with supposedly better wind resistance) does not touch 100 until I crouch, after which it touches 110-115.so I guess 110 is fine..not sure about the 5th gear problem..maybe your running a lean mixture

softer suspension setting will give you a better ride in te city....

but let me tell you something if your friend is a boy (even a normal sized one), he will always have trouble on the rear seat of fz....

IMO FZ's rear seat is not meant for boys to sit...

Well, I have freshly experimented on the matter
Note: I am using word 'bounce' to indicate that the bike - has motion wrt the vertical - in simple words - the suspension works! (compress-decompress-compress)
I am using word 'felt' to indicate the vibrations/feedback from the road - to the rider (and pillion)

My suspension setup was set to medium - as are all the bikes.
I also saw the notches (on the monocross-suspension, and was eager to play with the options).

What I (kinda) knew(before doing it):

                  1. A tight setup would mean a firm ride, planted well on the road.
would also mean, lesser 'bouncing' around when you go through undulations on the road.
again, that would mean - stiffer ride for the rider!
backaches/wrist aches could arise due to more bumps being - 'felt' by the rider (or even the pillion).

                  2. A soft setup would mean - more comfort to the rider ( and hence negating all the things in a tight setup)
bike would bounce around a bit more - definitely difficult to control - even more at higher speeds.
But, bad roads are less 'felt' by the rider (and pillion)

What was done (today) and what happened because of it:

                  1. Pushed the suspension to 2 notches towards tight setup.
Immediately noticed, the seating position feels a bit elevated.
(Can be explained by lesser compression of my weight than before)
and, I could feel the humps/undulations on the road bit more than before.
But, handling was better by a small margin too.

Biggest effect: high speed - sudden up/down of road - and the bike did not 'bounce' as much as before!
                  So, felt very comfortable there.

                  (No, particular discomfort observed)

                  2. Pushed the suspension to all the way to soft setting.
Again - you sit 'low' on the bike now!
you can feel the difference when you rest your legs on the ground.

Again, the comfort was not very pronounced, as the bike did 'bounce' around a bit more than before.

Minor humps/ undulations are not felt / (well, almost!)

                  3. Made it to mid setting.
This is the one for the average rider!
Golden mid - for all riding conditions!
Set and forget, if you dont want much of much-much

                  __

If you are enthu enough, select a setting wrt your riding conditions and tune yourself to it and vice-versa.
Its very easy to do with the tool!
you can do it in like 5 seconds flat!

                  I found it very interesting

                  Thanks,

                  Ace.

Since you talked about lean mixture -
Can you (or any other friend here) explain how to adjust the A/F Mix.

I generally set my idling as per weather - and vary it as felt necessary.
If I could do that to A/F ratio, It would be nice!

                  Anyone?

yes.... one of my friend who is on a bit heavier side complains a lot but my other friend who is a bit smaller than average doesnt complain at all... same is the case with my gf... she is tiny so she doesnt have any problem....

Oh, sorry, I forgot to mention that.
The tool is currently lend to me by a friend (who owns a CBR 250).
rk_sans ( I think he is a xbhp member also)

It is not supplied as a standard tool with Fz.
But, if you go to the service - they can set it in a jiffy ( I guess, for no charge as well.)
But, then - all the time - going to them for just suspension setting might be tedious!

The pic you can find here:
[Ownership Thread]: Honda CBR 250R - Page 4 - xBhp.com : The Global Indian Biking Community
Its next to the ring spanner.
(Looks like its missing a piece! but, that's how it is.
Note: It doesnt exactly fit in the groves of Fz - but, you can definitely set the suspension - (little ziggy-wiggy you have to do.)

                      Thanks,

Ahem, so, you see the law of selection has been laid down by the Lord himself! (Lord of the Streets! ) haha

Hey loosing about 3 psi from bith the tyres in a week is normal or is there any problem i fill 35 at the rear and within 1 week in becomes 33 or 32
and front it becomes 24 or 25 after filling 28..
I would like to suggest please take into account the following factors:
                      1. Humidity in your area/ (or dryness of air filled in tire)
Simply put - try changing your air-fill station.
                      2. Riding conditions
Your riding conditions - if they involve lot of bumpy roads - most of time(?)
Or, the way you drive over them too! If you bump into them - max safe/possible speed
^^both will mean, you will lose air pressure faster than other people who drive on better roads / and/or with slower speeds over the humps.
Could be, that you ride close to 4 times of what other people do! which would definitely make you lose air faster!!
(may be in hurry - most of the time)
                      3. When you fill?
(If you check air pressure at noon times / or / after riding considerable distance (i.e. like more than 3~5 kms) try changing that
Try changing your fill time to morning/night - ensures cooler tires/ better in many ways - (there are many discussions on why to fill air in cold tires, you can search them in the forum.)
                      4. Lastly- if all the above things are green-
Remember- all mechanical items, though similar are not identical!
Some seal really well/ by themselves!
                      Some - well.. don't!

                      __
                      My observation:
                      following all 1 ~ 3 things (in a good way) -
I see about 1~3 psi fall over period of like 7-10 days (even 2 weeks sometime recent)

                      Cheers,

                      Ace.

& talking about nice road the max speed all depends upon tire pressure, wind direction & how much you crouch. In this road once I got 123km/hr full crouched with wind in favour but at same time I also got 102/105km/hr (wind magor factor)
BUT MIND ONE THING NOW A DAYS THERE IS REGULAR PETROL ON NICE ROAD,SO BEWARE WHEN TESTING FOR SPEED.I MYSELF WAS ALMOST CAUGHT DOING 105 ON MIDDLE LANE RACING WITH SWIFT BUT LAST MINUTE SITE OF THE REAR OF PETROL SAVED ME PRECIOUS 500 BUCKS& LOWERED THE SPEED TO LESS THAN 75,MOVED TO RIGHT LANE A BIT..

Its isn't easy to find out why a vehicle has dropped its mileage by such a small factor. There are many small reasons for that.
and what is it with filling your tire @30-37?
That s well above the recommended pressure which is 28F,33R

                                Oh, thanks for the inputs

                                Hey, thanks for the warning!
I was there in the morning like 4 AM -
                                Are the Patrol active 24X7?
                                Any idea?

                                Thanks,
_I remembered the scene in Tokyo drift - when cops scan them doing 197K,
                                where Haan tells Shawn -
"Police cars here are only factory tuned. If you can do better than 180K they can't catch you, so they don't even try."_

                                Ace.
I wish, I would be paid by the word! :p
