Yep Com Paint is very good...for 300RS you get the paint and gloss finish.
I painted my exhaust by myself...basic stuff..very easy.
interesting...i recently saw a vid from Indonesia where the back light came on ONLY when the Park or Headlight was switched on...so maybe the newer FZ's come like thatOriginally posted by kinshuk.arya View Postthey might have done that in the new bikes i am not sure but do raise it with the svc....Smoke rubber, not tobacco.

Hi All,Originally posted by shv18 View PostHey guys, i am soon planning to scan and upload the whole Yamaha FZ 16 manual on xbhp for all fz owners and for all newbees who may want to refer to manual realtime online.. since, my bike is only a month old, hopefully the manual that came along with it should be relatively new...unless the moderator has any reservations against it coz of possible space crunch on the server or may want me to start a separate thread for this ...
i would like my fellow xbhpians comment on this.
i am posting the "work in progress E manual" of Yamaha FZ 16. i am halfway through scanning the pysical copy. Since, the images were of very high quality, hence i couldnot upload them on xbhp as an attachment. Once i am done with the whole lot, i shall post the link for the same for everyone at XBHP.
You can view it on the link below:
YAM MANUAL Low Work in Progress - Fullscreen
Please Note: Respecting Yamaha's Copyright Policy, you will find the reference bike model/ images with Yamaha Logo. I hope this will not be used for any other purpose than reference.
Would love to hear your comments/suggestions.

Hey, I also have a red Fazer.Originally posted by sachin.dhowan View Posti dont have one i have many
my bike backfires i told them they said its normal
my backlight remains on as soon as i switch on the bike
my paint is peeling of and its rusting even though i have taken utmost care and cover it always as well as park it under a small roof
my leg break keeps geting loose and dosent work properly
my both side mirrors keep geting loose and move with the wind
my feul indicatos is always wrong
( my headlights also developed black spots which i managed 2 get changed after three months and going there 6 - 7 times)
even the sides of the handle bars have lost their colour
gear shifting is quite hard and sometime dosent shift when i start the bike and put in 1 st
i even feel the shock absobers are not as good as they used 2 be
front tire looses air pressure damn quickly it became 16 in a month and 20 22 respectively ( i checked for a punture) but this might be due to the bad roads
i dont mind facing problems but the fact is this bike costs much more then normal 150 cc segment bikes so i believed yamaha gave quality
i have a red fazer by the way
1) Under what conditions does it backfire? If it's while going down/up steep slopes you will face this problem sometimes, but as far as I know it's nothing to worry about.
2) I think you mean rear tail light. This is usually on if the pilot lamp is on. Either adjust your brake switch (as instructed in the manual, it's a simple job and you can do it to your satisfaction rather than the service guy's) This may well be the problem since you've got complaints about the rear brake as well. If not, could be a bit more serious electrical issue best left to your service.
3) The whole bike's red parts at least are made of ABS plastic, so this does not apply. There are certain places on the bike which will begin showing signs of rust such as the number plate holder, or parts which have had paint peeled off due to a fall. The metal bits can be touched up at your service centre but the plastic bits can only be replaced. Secondly, if you live in a humid area, putting your bike cover on the bike immediately after use can cause condensation which will accelerate, not prevent, rust.
4) Get it adjusted at the service centre, alternatively sit on a friend's no-problem FZ and compare to troubleshoot.
5) They need regular tightening if you take your bike on bumpy roads or after a fall. The service centre people tend to loosen and fold them for storage when you give your bike for service, you have to ensure you have them adjusted to your requirements again. There is a locknut under the mirror, but none of the tools in the toolkit will fit in there unless you remove the mirror assembly first. I advise doing this instead of getting a mech to adjust it because I've had my paint scratched this way. Also, you might want to get radium reflector strips on the mirrors, I've found that they help people from knocking into them at night and loosening the bolts.
6) If you have stored your bike for a long time without using it, carbon will build up on the fuel sensor; your console may not necessarily be the problem. Get this cleaned by the SVC.
7) not sure what you mean about the headlights
8) The sides lose their colour after falls or if you hit something...
9) What is your bike's running and are you changing the oil frequently? Both these should solve stiffness issues while shifting. I found my bike loosened up after about 3k kms.
10) This sounds a lot like a bent rim. Your ride quality may have suffered due to the bends, and therefore you feel there's something wrong with the shocks. Take three fingers and run them on the edge of the rims where the alloy meets the tyre. Do it on both sides, ie 2 sides of the front and 2 of the rear. If you feel any unevenness, then your rim is bent and needs to be replaced. The front rim costs around Rs 2000 and the rear Rs 2500 (Mumbai). If you live in Mumbai go to the Kamla Yamaha parts depot because everyone else is #^*^% out of stock. Bends would also explain your tyre pressure problems.
HTH and back to lurking for me.Last edited by Samarth_M; 10-28-2010, 07:10 PM.

Reg rim bends
You can check for bends in ur rear rim by mounting ur bike on the centre stand and engage a gear n accelerate.
When the wheel rotates the rim has to rotate uniformly and ther shouldn be any hiccups.. if thers any bends u can easily find out by the jerks in the motion.
Note: take care that the stand is properly mounted through out the process.Smoke Rubber - But beware its even more addictive...
