Guys did a 350kms round trip to hogenekkal falls and back yesterday ... Near the end of the trip , like for the last 80-90kms the brake freeplay went up and it was like more than half way down to the throttle before it would engage ... But the bite was still there .
Now today morning when I checked it , the freeplay is back to normal ... What could be the issue , the freeplay increases as i ride more and once parked for sometime (say 8 hours ) it gets back to normal ...

Hi all,
so far i have done over 1800 kms on my FFE with the DB Killer on. Now i shall begin the tests without the DB Killer and report cops perception about the bike with the extra noise now it is going to create.
All reports coming soon.

Mileage Drop
Guys what are the causes of mileage drop i used to get 42-44 in city on sane riding
now it is below 40 38 something
what are the causes of mileage drop
Chain slack is correct tyre pressure is checked twice a week
ODO 5.8k
Riding conditions before and now is almost the same
this is during sane riding
chain hasn't been lubed for last 600km but that is not a cause for mileage drop
and running on 15TLast edited by Sunjay Kumar; 12-25-2011, 10:44 PM.

If the bike is serviced properly and has a clean enough filter and a constant tune i.e tuning isnt changed every now and then and ridden the same way ,then you should always get a constant mileage.95% of the ppl calculate the mileage wrong...you just cant fill fuel for 200 or 300 or 50rs and simply calculate..there are loads variables...this is the main reason EVERYONE keeps complaining about varying mileage be it on a plusar or fz!Originally posted by Sunjay Kumar View PostMileage Drop

fill it to the brim and check the kms run when you hit reserve.3 years and my mileage has NEVER varied!
and if your filter is clean enough and your tune hasn't been changed your mileage wont just change!stop bothering and calculating the mileage all the time...that itself solves half the probs!Smoke rubber, not tobacco.

reserve to reserve is accurate for FZ
i would have never bothered about what mileage it gives if i had a job but student
bike has never been tuned
air filter was cleaned 3k back
mileage also indicates that the bike is healthy

That's the 'fading out' of the brakes.. The pads heat up over their optimum temperature range (these are not superbikes s the optimum temperatures are lower) and that's when you feel the freeplay increasing..Originally posted by nand15 View PostGuys did a 350kms round trip to hogenekkal falls and back yesterday ... In the morning the temperature was back to normal hence normal freeplay..Get ready for the ride! 24 Hours on a Bike...

Check the state of break oil in the oil reservoir. If it is brown or muddy in color, it is highly recommended that you change the oil. Break oil is hygroscopic in nature, therefore, with time it absorbs moisture, which in turn lowers the boiling point and makes the breaks fade due to ineffective hydraulic pressure.Originally posted by nand15 View PostGuys did a 350kms round trip to hogenekkal falls and back yesterday ... I would also highly recommend changing the break lines to HEL steel braided breakline. It makes a tremendous difference in the breaking.Only a biker knows why a dog sticks his head out of a car window.

changed the brake oil about a week back , it has marginally improved the braking , but the freeplay issue remains ...Originally posted by abhimanyu31 View PostCheck the state of break oil in the oil reservoir. De-carbonising engine
Guys,
just wanted to put forward a general query. What is the ideal way of decarbonising a motorcycle engine? Usually i have seen people recommending doing a hard run i.e. revving the engine's nuts off on every gear. Does using Speed/ High Speed fuel at times help?
I usually do hard run.. actually now most of the times thanks to FFE
but just wanted to know about this on a general basis. Your comments/suggestions are most welcome.
Thanks & CheersLast edited by shv18; 12-28-2011, 10:48 AM.A quote by a toilet, " use me well, keep me clean, i would never tell anybody whatever i have seen.." :P

Ensure that the breaks are bled properly. And it may be time to replace the break line if it is 18 to 24 months old and has seen some heavy use. As per my last discussion with them, even if they don't have a break line in ready stock, they can get one made for any Indian bike.Only a biker knows why a dog sticks his head out of a car window.
