  • Problems with downshifting

    Hey guys,

I got my bike in November 2011, and it has done 3300 Kms till date. I got both the services done on time but i am still facing a problem since a long time. Downshifting gets really hard sometimes with the gearbox refusing to shift. It happens randomly without any provocation. Shifting up has never been an issue. I use 15W50 Yamalube and got it changed during my second service just 300 Kms ago. Can anyone please shed some light on how to get rid of this problem? Rev-matching is a solution i guess but i am not very good at it yet and plus it wastes fuel which can be better used to travel that much farther from where you dont want to be...
Used to be on all fours before..Finally evolved to have fun on two

3k km is too young for semi-synthetic.

      • Dear Joel, can we have a rough idea about the price for the whole kit. Can you arrange anything in Kolkata?

bro, this is a very common problem.. I had a similar issue with the bike.. Continue whatever oil you want to use till 4000-5000 kms and then go for a fully synthetic.. All gear changing problems are gone.. As you are changing to fs oil quite early you will feel intermittent roughness like one day its butter smooth the other day some roughness.. No worries, I am on ss from 1000 and fs from 4000.. After 6000 kms its consistently butter smooth.

it is ot but couldn't help replying,gt 250 r is bulky,it has too much weight ,not a good performer,it has serious reliability issues, braking is vague.but it sure gives you big bike feel that other 250 cc fail, and some goodies like projectors, led tail lamp.it doesn't have fi,it is not even liquid cooled.
try duke dude, this is the true performer.
and the question remains why do i race?
every finishing line is the begining of a new race.

#i have learnt to manipulate my own adrenaline and the perception of biking is different.
                        #overkill is underrated.
#how random roads may appear there is always a destination.sigpic
#i don't subscribe to co-incidence,either it is the rider or the other moron on the road

(:)people keeps on saying add spark to life, bajaj got hold of that idea and added an extra spark to bike.

Well then i guess there isnt a cause for much concern..Thanks buddy.
One thing I would like to get in though..even with the downshifting problem, the FZ gear box feels so much more refined than the Pulsar 150 I learnt on.

                          • do the side panel stickers come on their own or do they come only with the panels? The local dealer here said they come only with the panels and costs around 600 per piece.
