Re: Honda CBR 250R
Guys, my CBR is making a slight screeching noise at start up, and at low rpms. It's similar to timing chain sound of my Sumo. Am I right in thinking it's a worn out timing chain?
This sound is different from the sewing machine sound I had when the CCT was faulty.

Re: Honda CBR 250R
Is this sound present only when you thumb the starter and the motorcycle is about to fire up ? Or does this noise persist at idling ?Originally posted by leech View PostGuys, my CBR is making a slight screeching noise at start up, and at low rpms. It's similar to timing chain sound of my Sumo. A short audio clip would help.

Re: Honda CBR 250R
Its present only when the bike has cold started, and that too, at low rpms. The sound is low, I'm not sure an audio clip would help, but I'll put it up.Originally posted by s1d View PostIs this sound present only when you thumb the starter and the motorcycle is about to fire up ? Re: Honda CBR 250R
That sound is due to the timing chain. Either it is time to change the chain or need to adjust the tappet. I consulted one of a HSC last month related to the same issue (odo at 76k)Originally posted by leech View PostGuys, my CBR is making a slight screeching noise at start up, and at low rpms. Re: Honda CBR 250R
I guess the timing/cam chain has worn out and the cam chain tensioner is not able to provide enough tension on the same. Get both the things replaced and get the valve clearence checked too.Originally posted by leech View PostIts present only when the bike has cold started, and that too, at low rpms. Tappets of CBR250R can not be adjusted as they require shims of required size for needed clearence. I guess its the right time to get the whole things checked and replaced if needed.
Another friendly suggestion would be Shell Advance 10W40 FS oil and the difference will be very much after whole process.

Wats the price of it? I'm on 300v will switch to the shell advance 10w40, many have had good experiences on it.Originally posted by Wilson4willy View PostI guess the timing/cam chain has worn out and the cam chain tensioner is not able to provide enough tension on the same.
