  • Re: Honda CBR 250R

Thanks alot VJ. I've ignored the brake fluid replacement and the cap has never been opened. So, the issue may not be with the incorrect torque as it is at factory torque rating. I think the issue could be with the diaphragm rubber kinks and water absorption. Yes, I'm planning to get the P220 steel braided brake line for front and break pads changed along with brake oil bleeding and Dot 4 oil fill up. I was worried if the entire reservoir replacement would be needed but now that's sorted. [emoji846]

I've one more question. Are there any break levers that go along with the CBR from Yamaha or Royal Enfield. I somehow don't feel comfortable with the lever reach and angle. I'm not interested to go for aftermarket accessories and looking at options from Yamaha or Royal Enfield as the lever feel is good in hand from my past experience.

When you open the reservoir cover, on the inside, you will have a plastic cap on top of a rubber diaphram. If this diaphram is kinked or failed, you will have fluid leak when the brakes heat up and ooze slowly out causing paint fade and chipping, as in your case. Open the reservoir, clean it thoroughly, empty the fluid, bleed the brake system fully, and use new DOT 4 brake fluid. Your brake should be good as new. If you haven't replaced your brake pads in a long time, now is the time.

    Cheers!

With this, I am little cluless as to what fits and what doesn't. Basically, the yoke bore can be same on some bikes and so are the levers, but the way they engage the master cylinder piston on the right plays a big role. I would suggest you get good quality adjustable levers, they are adjustable and makes life comparatively easier.

      Cheers!

Once upon a time, a guy asked a girl 'Will you marry me?'
      The girl said, 'NO!'

And the guy lived happily ever after and rode motorcycles and watched sport on a big screen TV, went fishing and surfing, and played golf a lot, and drank beer and scotch and had tons of money in the bank and left the toilet seat up and farted whenever he wanted.

      THE END

Okay. I'll look out for adjustable levers and open to suggestions from existing owners who have them on their bikes. Thank you. [emoji846]

Get it removed and charged. That is the only way. And then plug it back in to start the bike.

Hey i did it but mechanic said that it is getting hot when he try to charge it so u need to change battery.
So i fit it in bike is has very low charge. Bike isn't starting but fi motor start now. So is there any another method like need to fill it with acid or water?
Or can i push start it? So battery can charge itself. But I never start like that on this bike cause few months before whenever i tried to push start its wheel get locked.

Replace the battery. If the battery is heating up, chances are the battery has developed high internal resistance. If nothing works even after charging the battery, replace the battery for good. No amount of reviving it would bring it back to life.

No matter what the manual states, it's always a good practice to inspect valve clearances every 25k kms.

                      Cheers!

ideally u want to get the valve clearances checked (and adjusted if required) every other service or 15k km approx. most don't do that because it involves more labor and time consuming, especially on fared bikes and bikes with shims.
valves clearances that are out of spec, especially on the tighter side will sap some performance out and also cause cold starting issues. correct clearances will provide the optimum compression and performance.
if its neglected too long, you might end up with more repairs.. which could have been avoided if the clearances were checked and set right at regular intervals.

                          Hi, first time posting here.

My 2013 Repsol CBR has been lying idle for a week or so straight thanks to the lockdown in Bangalore. I took out the batteries today to recharge them. Having used it for an hour or so after, the bike stalled twice. After stalling, the ignition would stutter for a bit before switching back on. Both times the bike stalled while moving. Any idea what may be wrong? The bike was serviced quite recently.

                          Thanks in advance.

                            Hello Rahul,

Maybe the culprit is old fuel? Happened with me too day before yesterday. My bike was lying idle for a couple of weeks too. After half a KM from home the bike gave a 'whump-phew' and died. Had to do the 'flooded engine clearing maneuver' to get it started. Please post how you managed to restart the bike. Maybe we will all be able to comment further.

It seems to be a weakened battery. Took the bike out again yesterday, and it didn't stall, though the ignition did take a second longer than usual. Hopefully it's nothing more. Thanks for your response.

You are welcome. What's the age of the battery?

Query: My battery is almost 3.5 years old. Do you guys think it is time for a change? Startup still takes a single push of the starter. However the last time the bike was serviced (last December), the service mechanic advised changing it after doing an amperage test. Open circuit voltage (no-load) shows ~12.4v. Idle voltage is ~14v at 2500 RPM. Please advise.
                                Thanks in advance.
