  • Okhie guys! i have already done 150+ kms in my bike (203 kms wer done by the honda guys cus they went on a rally on my bike on the lauch day)so its makes up to sumwer 400+ kms....today noon was a very sunny one and i went out for a ride at 1.30 with my bro and his friend(who wer on a stunner)...the streets wer empty and i cudnt resist to open throttle, n i did a 127 without any trouble...sad i had to brake cus a cow popped out of nower in the street! .... and std braking won me over!! i am glad i saved the money on C-ABS!! ....
people who are still torn apart between abs and non-abs. i just have to say, it all depends on ur experience and confidence! Honda's discs are indeed trustworthy! no offence to p220 owners but the brakes on 220 never felt safe which is a contradiction to honda!!

    cheerz guys

(ooh and btw i felt like heaven at 127..no vibes, no jerks, no extra sounds...amazzzing)

    • sorry for the double post (is it allowerd here?)

but has anyone though about changing his CBR's horns???
i guess most will agree that the bike deserves a better set of horns rather than that puny horn which sounds like scooty pep! sheh!!

maybe u guys arent so bothered abt the horn but well, i have been riding a bike for 6 yrs which had a bosch limited edition horns n so CBR's horn is sumthing i am having trouble to get used to

read sumwer that CBR's battery aint so gr8 to handle a set of powerful horns and may die out eventually....any thoughs on that??

nevertheless em gonna as my SS guys if they can install my bosch horns on my CBR!!!

      • I find the horn to be adequately loud, but I guess that is a personal opinion.
Just a word of caution: Changing the horn might void the warranty on the battery, not very sure though, do ask before you go ahead with the change

And btw, the battery can easily take a horn. As per my calculations, the CBR alternator produces 260W at 5000r/min, and the max consumption including headlights, blinkers, brake light and radiator fan would be around 150W, so you are easily overcoming the battery drain issue. The battery is 6Ah, and I suppose it can take the load of a air horn

On a hot summer day, on a perfectly laid tarmac road, maybe your experience won. But in all confidence, can you say the same if you were on a wet, slippery road? Isn't that what we think about when we invest, that even if it decreases the chance of a mishap in the most dire circumstances. If you tell me, i will be much careful on a slippery road and would never do 127, then congrats to you.. you just saved 27k

where do you find that 260 watt figure?
have you chacked the break off voltage with amm meter or voltmeter?

              • My short test ride experience

Finally I'd my pie of test riding experience this morning from JSP Honda Anna Nagar Friday morning.

Dealership Experience - As usual, when I walked in, no one responds like before. But this time, I went in directly to the floor incharge who was in seat. They were courteous (could've been more polite though) this time. I said my intention for test ride & they obliged to it without asking much questions & was asked to wait for sometime.

Owner's Manual - While I was waiting, I made best use of the time by asking for owner's manual & I got it promptly. Some of the highlights that I can recall from top of my mind now...
                - Servicing interval is about 6000 Kms
                - Spark plug change interval is about 24K kms (heard its 12K for N250R)
                - Tappet adjustments is every 12K & inspection is every 6K
                - Engine oil change interval is every 6K (quite obvious)
                - Chain lubing & inspection is every 1000 Kms
                - Manual says that for a tire change one needs to have a main stand (paddock) or take it to nearest ASC
                - The multi functional speedo unit has mal function lights for PGM-FI & when it glows (when the vehicle is in running) it has to be taken to nearest ASC immediately
                - There's also a helmet lock that is equipped at the LHS of the bike underneath the rear seat. But I wasn't able to find that on the display vehicle at the showroom
                - IIRC, there're about 6-8 pieces of tools that comes along with the bike as standard
                - To summarize, from the owner's manual, it seems that the bike requires very low on maintenance

By this time I'd spent a good 20 minutes waiting & I was running out of patience a little. So I went back asking for test ride & they said the vehicle will be down in 5 minutes. I'd little apprehension because the vehicle didn't have RVM's I told them that I can take a test ride ONLY with RVMS. Surprisingly, they agreed to fix one & give me immediately.

Again a good 10 minutes passed by & no signs of fixing one. By now another gentleman approaches & asks me if I was given a test ride. I tell him NO & he expedites & finally one young man comes & asks me if I'm ready. I point out the display vehicle & tell him my apprehension on the absence of RVMS. It was then, he pointed out the test ride vehicle on the road & says the test ride vehicle is different from showroom one.

First Impression - All the vehicles including the showroom display & test ride vehicle has paint chipped off from exhaust. May be a design flaw like Swift's front fenner.

The saree guard certainly is MADE FOR INDIA & looks way out of the vehicle's engineering. It is something like a 4 X 4 patch on a six laned GQ

I'm not touch basing anything w.r.t welding as it has been discussed all over. The plastics have a good quality. Anyone wants a comparison on fairings, I'd say, its way better than what the fairings are on ZMA & it may equal or exceed the standards on R15.

The Ride - Before I start, I told the young man that I need a test ride all alone for a loop & then I want to take him as pillion. He says he's not the deciding authority. So once again we step into showroom to talk to the incharge. I tell them that I want one small round as solo & then another round with the pillion. They were a little apprehensive & told me that they don't give away the vehicle as such for solo rides.

Probably my riding gears would've won his confidence. They only thought once & then asked me not to go too far as they haven't been giving solo test rides until now.

Before Riding - From the rider's perspective, the front instrumentation certainly looks small compared to the pics. I highly doubt if one can notice the top speed while riding in one go. I'm 5'6, yet I could place both my feet comfortably on the road. The bike had done about 183 Km in total & had 3 bars for fuel.

                Solo Ride Experience
                - Any 6 year old can very easily engage & disengage the clutch & its so soft. I felt the gear shifts were like handling a remote control. Ultra low flick & the gears are engaged. Probably due to my Rx's experience or so, I was able to shift from 2 to Neutral & 2 to 1 easily & it was so much predictable & accurate.
                - Torque was absolutely available right from 1500 RPM; at any point in time, at any gear at any RPM, just do a T.W.O & the bike pulls of without a flick
                - I felt the bike so light & didn't feel anything heavy
                - I was test riding the C-ABS variant & had applied the rear brakes ONLY for testing. I was expecting the front also to be activated accordingly. Not sure if the front was activated or not, but for sure, there's no substitute for applying the front brakes manually through C-ABS.
                - No comments for suspensions as I was riding in well paved roads in the city
                - Horn was just adequate & may be a little heavier could be fitted. Anyway, I'm not a horn dependant rider.
                - Did two U turns & I couldn't even feel that I'd changed the bike from Rx to C250R except for the power; such a brilliant engineering.
                - The exhaust was a minor disappointing, but for a 2-Stroke junkie like me, any 4S sounds the same

                Pillion Ride Experience
                - With a pillion, the bike's characteristic was almost the same. I could only notice a slight, very minor dip in power. However that does not apply to the ability of the bike in pulling. I almost was riding over gear & under speed with engine knocking at 1500 RPM on 2nd gear & then did a T.W.O & the bike pulled absolutely great.
                - Brakes again were excellent, responsive & the front doesn't dive (this is what I wanted to avoid with CBZ & ZMA)
                - Even with a pillion, I couldn't find any change in the bike's handling; I'm sure with a few more Kms of experience, I could easily flick in city traffic for sure

                Riding Posture
This was one of my biggest apprehension as I always ride straight-up for over a decade+ now. My apprehensions were converted to a great satisfaction after the 10-15 minutes of ride on C250R that, I could keep riding all day long.

                Verdict
                If one's expectation is...
                - To keep cruising in 130 Kmph (80 mph) all day
                - Low on maintenance, high quality, reliable, affordable & an international model

Then C250R is the one to go for now
Skill is what keeps you on a Motorcycle
Awareness + Skill is what keeps you out of harm's way
ATGATT + Awareness + Skill means you might Live To Ride another day

yup u are ryt bro...i cant claim the discs to be safe enough on wet season... but i was mainly pointing out to the cruisers (for eg sudeep, who mentioned that hes not much of a speed junkie and wud mostly maintain his speeds within 60-70) rather than the rippers!....i think a speed on a 60-70 can be managed (although yes, THE FRONT tyre "MAY" skid)

2ndly,yes again, thats exactly what i wud say, i will NEVER EVER EVER rip the CBR on a wet road cus in the past seven year all my accident can be credited to rainy season and wet roads and they have been near fatal leading to 3-4 months of bed rest (and the remaining to animals popping out of nower into the streets and me smashing them up! hahahaha)

                        • it surprising how many CBR250Rs are out there already.

                          i saw 14 today.

                          Silver. Red. Black.

at Colaba, then Bandra then at Vashi.

none of them were riding in groups.

and i saw all of them at different times of the day.

the first one i saw was near Metro cinema at about 8:30am. Non-ABS.

the last one on Palm Beach Road. Red. Helmetless.
                          .

well not exaclty bro, they had already done 203 kms on my odo before i took delivery! i checked everything personally but somhow checking the odo skipped my mind (maybe because i was used to analog odo)

at home, while i was getting familiar with the instrument panel, i saw 203kms

i toked to my dad abt it (the honda guys know my dad very well) n he said ki call up those guys and ask y is it 203 and not zero?

i called up the person i knew best, n he said dont worry bro we had taken ur bike for the launch rally for 200 kms and a few other CBRs and the bike has been handled well so can be sure it wont have a prob, if it has one, i'll personally see into it..

so my dad said to keep that bik if its running well and doesnt have any problem

second was the patience fator, after laying my hands on the CBR, i was simply reluctant to let it go!

btw also, therz no gurantee that if the odo shows 0 means the bike is untouched, because some clever guys simply remove the instruments wire and give these bikes for test ride and take dem for rallies..its happening here!!! the bikes for test rides have their odos at zero although every day 100s of people test ride them!!

the good thing was they gave me a "tank full" on delivery

A very nice informative first impression.....Thanks a lot putting it here.

I'm the same situation, As I'm the same height as well riding in straight position last 10 years in a little machine...but I'm bit heavier in weight.

                              1. Do you feel any stress in your wrist ?

                              2. Do u feel any shortage of reach any instrument like clutch lever/horn switch/Front Brake Lever/Acce during right turn/left turn of handle/bike in the same time ? (here I mean complete U-Turn).

                              3. As you read the manual, Do you know what is the Interval of Draining Radiator oil ? (assuming there the separate oil apart from engine oil)

                              4. Gear Shift is 1 Down 5 Up Right ?

                              Thanks in advance.....

                              Another Query (Stupid Maybe)

If someone remove the battery from the bike how the odo meter keep previous reading ? Is there some button cell like PC's motherboard installed somwhere ?

Also if this bike is not use for a long time, will user able/allow to disconnect the battery ? If not what consequence he may face apart from clock ? Hope it not harm the Fi System.

Now I too wud like an answer to this question, cus i may permanently go
away to singapore for my further studies in july leaving my CBR behind at home

the only time i'll get to ride it is when i come home for holidays!sob sob!

some may ask me "then why on earth did u buy the CBR 250?? for 3 months??"......

well i dont think i need to answer this question to u guys atleast cus u know a biker's sentiment dont ya!
