hmm...I'd say YES, but that's almost negligible & I'm sure we may need to get used to it.

Sry, didn't notice. Probably some owner can post the info here

This is the same thing happens with every car that, even with the battery removed, the ODO & trip meter readings are safely stored in the ECU/attached memory. I hope HMSI should've taken care, otherwise...

Will the owner be able to disconnect the battery??? Hmm...it depends if the owner is a DIY person or not. If yes, then having some basic tool kit & interest to learn will help.

      • To all those taking deliveries, please note a few things:
        1. The chain is well lubed/oiled. My bike's chain was not oiled(not enough I think).
        2. Make sure there are no visible scratches on the fairings, esp when it comes to the bottom part of the fairings.
        3. See that the mirror can be moved slightly, else if by chance, when you move through traffic, if the mirror is too tight, it can even damage the front fairing/cowling section.
        4. I dont know if this was only me, but do check for instrumentation panel scratches.
        5. Always make sure you have more than 4 liters of fuel all the time, lest you want the FI pump to damage the engine. The first thing you should do after getting delivery of the bike, is to tank up.
        6. DO NOT WASH YOUR BIKE/WIPE DUST OFF with ordinary cloth. Make sure you buy micro-fibre cloth or chamois leather for wiping/washing/waxing. This bike is very very very prone to scratches.
        7. Do buy a tank pad if possible, mostly the tank part which comes in contact with your inseam are very prone to scratches. For people in Bangalore, if you dont have time to buy online tank pads, I suggest you go for Keiti tank pads from Orion Motors. But do get it.
        8. And at the time of delivery, do look for abnormal gaps in the fairings, it would most probably be because the layered fairings were not locked properly. Ask them to open it in front of you and fix it properly.

        • Re: Honda CBR 250R

          Verdict
          If one's expectation is...
          - To keep cruising in 130 Kmph (80 mph) all day
          - Low on maintenance, high quality, reliable, affordable & an international model

Then C250R is the one to go for now
          Nice Impression Aargee.

@Amlann_Cbr: You are right about people tricking customers by removing the wires and then giving test rides. Fortunately that is not the case with the dealer from whom I am going to buy my Cbr as he had a dedicated test drive bike and it had already clocked 300+ kms when I took the td.

Good thing is that your dealer did not resort to tricking that way and you got a tank full in return

Look at the chart, low power at initial revs, which translates it into a R15 like machine. Could be problematic, as the CBR was developed with more mid-range in sight, rather than high end revs like R15.

Lets plan up, atleast for a offline meet. Not a ride, but a meet of existing owners and prospective owners as well.

at home, while i was getting familiar with the instrument panel, i saw 203kms

i toked to my dad abt it (the honda guys know my dad very well) n he said ki call up those guys and ask y is it 203 and not zero?

i called up the person i knew best, n he said dont worry bro we had taken ur bike for the launch rally for 200 kms and a few other CBRs and the bike has been handled well so can be sure it wont have a prob, if it has one, i'll personally see into it..

so my dad said to keep that bik if its running well and doesnt have any problem

second was the patience fator, after laying my hands on the CBR, i was simply reluctant to let it go!

btw also, therz no gurantee that if the odo shows 0 means the bike is untouched, because some clever guys simply remove the instruments wire and give these bikes for test ride and take dem for rallies..its happening here!!! the bikes for test rides have their odos at zero although every day 100s of people test ride them!!

the good thing was they gave me a "tank full" on delivery
All the best for your ride...

                • Guys,
Any idea about the cost of the radiator. CBR owners, can you check with the dealers from whom you have purchased the bike.
I checked with the dealer whom i have booked and he does not have any clue about it. The bike which i test drove and already some fins bent. Any suggestions on protecting the radiator.

                  • Read through the whole thread.

Nice Review Aargee, seems you are warming up to the CBR.

I am sure the CBR would be a great touring machine.

One thing I missed from this thread was the ecstatic first ride stories from the riders. I remember many of these when the Ninja thread started.

I was expecting the same "little kid-new toy" excitement here.

Guys need more detailed first impressions!

If I know correctly, CBR has a liquid cooled engine so its coolant that resides in the radiator and not oil, unlike the oil cooler in p220. So, you will not need to drain the coolant unless something is wrong with the radiator.

Owners, please correct me in case I'm wrong.

                        • Yesterday I saw 500kms on my odo and I did what I had to do. Went to NICE road and split her open. Reached a maximum of 144kmph at that time tacho was at 9k rpm. It just wasn't going beyond, though red-line starts at 10.5k rpm. Maybe after first service, it'll reach the full potential. Anybody else tried maxing out their CBR?

Well it does always take some time for the engine to open up right?

I have seen 150kmph on my speedo and it took a decent amount of time and tarmac to achieve it. The rpm was some where around 9.5-10K and the bike just could not go any faster.
I didnt run out of road but let go of the throttle after being at 150 for a decent amount of time until I was convinced the bike had no more to give.

Lets see if anything changes after the first service, not expecting much of a change though.

I am kind of shocked to hear this, it should be easily doing 150+ even if its under initial run in period. At this stage only, one can test the top end, am kind of skeptic the scene may change after the 1st service. Are Indian CBRs deprived of performance? This is an apparent ques at this point of time. I request all the owners to check the top end if possible soon after their initial run-in. and let us know the truth.
