  • Ravi & thefastestindian - Man!!! You guys are scaring the **** out of me & I'm now very nervous!!! Did I miss looking out something? Having done 900+ Kms, I hope there wasn't any such issue on mine. How should I check? Pls advice. Tks.

    BTW - 342 is today's homework

And the FE observed - 40.3 Kmpl!!! I was riding in 6K RPM. I guess that's pretty decent speed, not too much of wind, very easy to control, sufficient enough to smoke most vehicles on highway (except other equivalent speed bikes)

Metal_Maniac - You're bang right on the pain stuff. I did a high speed 300+ Kms riding today, the pain in wrist was hardly noticable. Hope it vanished in the days to come. Also, I could find my butt adjusting with the ride easily, which was not the case y'day. Tks buddy for your pointers

      3. Oil filter installed the other way round.

Anyways the mehanic will pay a visit to my plae tomorrow to diagnose the problem. Lets see what'll happen.
I suspect they may have re-used the metal gasket again, due to non availability.

      • I have one now

Guys took delivery this monday and for last 6 days have driven it 40-50 kms very early in the morning as I have no time during the day. Guess I am too late here to go through the entire collection of posts but I will do so .. gradually. Took mine from V D Autowheels Dwarka, Delhi and mine is a Red/Silver C-ABS version. Searched west Delhi for good quality cover but haven't found one till now. The dealer gave me some bike cover which does not fit. Also want to buy some good quality gloves and jackets. Any suggestions?
The bike feels awesome but there is definetly some discomfort in wrists and shoulders after 45-50 mins of continuous drive.
Have not taken it beyond 100 till now but will slowly start extracting the juice from engine.

        Thanks

Everything was fine untill the first service was done. Yesterday after the service things wet wrong withthe filter area. just check for leaks from the filter area.

Asit is a metal gasket, it's not a problem if you use it again and again.. it should be ok atleast for some 3 times.

Metal gaskets are made of soft material and once set in place ,they deform permanently to align with the surfaces. if you remove it once you can never fix it in original position , and since the gasket is already compressed and formed a new position will lead to gaps..Remember the metal gasket used for engine oil drain bolt...It must be replaced every time the bolt is removed and fixed back..

There are many in here who got their oil filters changed but not the gasket but still no leaks. And regarding the oil drain seal, it is clearly mentioned that the metal gasket used for engine oil drain bolt can be replaced at every alternate oil change. This piece of information was clearly mentioned in the owners manual.

                  • Hmm....8.5K RPM & 135 is it? I touched 8K RPM or a little more & observed 128 Kmph.

You mean, when the oil filter was changed, something got messed up is it?

Err...I think most gaskets are to be used only once

                    • Had yet another awesome ride today. Did 350 kms. I'm totally loving riding my CBR... It just keep munching miles. And puts no strain on you...
Its been just 17 days since I've got my CBR and there were 3 weekends that came after that. Every weekend I've done some ride. First was a 200 kms ride, second week was 400 kms ride and this week it was 350 kms!
Totally 1500+ kms in 17 days. Well, this may not be a big number for many others here, but going by my standards, it's a milestone for me.
I did double the distance in half the time of what I had done on my FZ when I got its delivery. (1500 in half month compared to my 750 in 1 month on FZ).

I had a pillion (xxbomb) today and we were easily cruising on 120-130s inspite of having lots of wind. The bike was rock solid in those condition, but we were not.
Did a top speed of 138 kmph (with pillion) and ran out of road. Would've crossed 140 easily.
xxbomb rode my bike for around 100 kms and I was his pillion. So I'll leave the further riding experience part to him, which he would be posting in sometime.
Touring on CBR has become an addiction to me now. I just don't feel like stopping. Just keep riding and riding. Sadly from next week onwards, I'll be occupied on my weekends with other important things. That means less touring!

More than y'day, I loved it riding today, though it was for a very short distance of 300 Kms!!! Did 150 Kms in less than 2 hours. And the FE puts a big smile on the face.

Oh yes! Forgot to mention that part. Was mostly ripping the bike on the ride. And got a impressive FE of around 30 kmpl. Yay!

You, This went wrong when the oil filter was changed, Some installation error or part malfunction. This will be known when the technician comes home tomorrow. No leak from the oil drain bolt. Oil is leaking only from the oil filter cap surroundings. That too only when the engiine is running. The more you rev, the more it leaks
