Say for example your bike does 100KM/h in gear 4 at 8K RPM (this is hypothetical), changing of your air filter may only allow your bike to reach 8K RPM in gear 4 in a shorter time, but your bike will still only do 100KM/h in gear 4 at 8K RPM.

Re: Yamaha YZF-R15 version 2.0
Changing of the air filter will not have changed the speed of your bike at a given gear and RPM. The speed of your bike is always the same at the same gear and RPM if you have not changed your gear ratio by using a larger or smaller sprocket.Originally posted by himanshunegi1987 View Post

Re: Yamaha YZF-R15 version 2.0
True. And I dont think its 3rd gear. Even a daytona powered R15 (Without ECU) only does 108kmph on 3rd gear (max). And 109kmph with just an air filter change(stock type itself) is impossible unless you weigh less than 30kg.Originally posted by xjchew View PostChanging of the air filter will not have changed the speed of your bike at a given gear and RPM. Re: Yamaha YZF-R15 version 2.0
The issue of after market air filters has been discussed on this forum for donkey's years. By the way, just a pointer, I hope you oiled the air filter element before installing it.Originally posted by himanshunegi1987 View PostI wanted to get them just because of the sound. Not a fan of going crazy on delli traffics. 80-85 is more then enuff for me.
Do you see any bad points for removing it now ? Or is it ok ?
I had fitted RC-1100 on my old CBX-x right in front of the carboretor, the sound was awesome but it screwwed the engine, i think. Now i have spend Rs. 3100 on the filter , and another Rs 250 for fitting it. Shoudl i keep it on ? or remove it ?
To clarify your doubts on whether you should use it or remove it, here is one of my post that should help you take a call on the same; http://www.xbhp.com/talkies/motorcyc...tml#post932875Only a biker knows why a dog sticks his head out of a car window.

Re: Yamaha YZF-R15 version 2.0
Then i guess i must have not properly red lined the bike earlier on. Or i might be in 4th gear today. Will test this weekend or may be on Thursday ( Bike to office
).
Any of the gurus here mind shedding the light if i should keep it or remove it ?
----consecutive posts auto-merged-----
And i cannot comment on the acceleration , am pretty sure it has increased, but i have been feeling that since 1 day earlier, after service when my mechanic changed my clutch settings or something. Am not a huge fan of top speed or crazy duke like acceleration. As long as my baby does 80-90 km/hr, faster then a normal 150cc bike am happy.
Somebody knows a way to make the engine/exhaust or anything to make the bike`s noise more bassy ? Exhaust change is a option but a little expensive. WITHOUT ANY DAMAGE TO BIKE.

Re: Yamaha YZF-R15 version 2.0
according to the r15 service manual almost every maintenance job requires something like an o-ring, gasket, seal or washer to be replaced with a new one.
for example valve clearance adjustment requires a new gasket and two o-rings, coolant replacement requires a copper washer etc.
the guys at the SVC don't change it. the few times i have asked them they say don't have it in stock.
how important is it to replace these parts? do they need to be replaced every time or say every alternate time?Last edited by incipient; 05-22-2013, 02:09 AM.

^^
I don't think that it is of utmost importance for a well maintained machine but do keep a check of it. Have a trustworthy mechanic who lets you in on the inner details rather than simply stating that the bike has been serviced. The gurus here will be able to shed more light on this. Happy Riding!

Re: Yamaha YZF-R15 version 2.0
It is important because the o-rings , gaskets or seals are prone to damage while their respective parts are opened. Even if you dont see any damage too, possibility of oil leak is high on the older seals and gaskets. That is why it is recommended to change it , & you can also avoid another trip to the svc for oil leakage. Re: Yamaha YZF-R15 version 2.0
Has anyone here used DOT5 brake fluid in their R15? If yes, where is it available and how much does it cost? Also suggest a good engine oil for a bike that has run 5k kms... Thanks in advance.Wheel was a good invention but two wheels with an engine in between is way better!

One of my frnd in Dehradun is using DOT5 brake oil on his p220...braking is lil bit more fun.But i suspect it to be dangerous bcoz it is not advisable to use DOT 5 in a DOT 3/4 Oil container.Originally posted by Adithya LA View PostHas anyone here used DOT5 brake fluid in their R15? DOT 4 is the one to use. stay away from DOT 5. brakes are a critical component, this is not the sort of thing you want to experiment with.Originally posted by Adithya LA View PostHas anyone here used DOT5 brake fluid in their R15? yes.. DOT4 is the recommended one to use but i am not sure whether it means that DOT5 is incompatible with the braking system of an R15.. As far as i know, DOT5 can be used if the lines are completely flushed once with the DOT5.. It shouldn't be mixed with DOT3/4.. I think the reason why the company suggests DOT4 is becauseOriginally posted by incipient View PostDOT 4 is the one to use. stay away from DOT 5. brakes are a critical component, this is not the sort of thing you want to experiment with.
