Regarding the wrist pain: I too faced it in the beginning. Then I read some and tried to correct my posture with very little weight being put on the wrists, along the lines of the correct riding posture.
The bottomline is, you shouldn't use the handlebar to support your posture. It causes pain and also compromises steering performance.

Here are a few things I learned about and followed while running-in.Originally posted by shreyassave View PostGuys,
Finally after 4 months of wait, Got my RD (Red Devil- Fiery Red LE)..
Although I'm getting used to riding, a slight wrist and back pain does exist, but its way too lesser than what I had expected.
The gear shift also seems to be great, and by what I've read here, It'll become better after the 1st service..
Have completed 160 kms on the Odo, now wish to go for the oil and oil filter change. Just want to confirm that it uses semi-synthetic oil, right?
The initial run-in period is
Hard to control the Revs.. Used to RX na!
Although the basics are known, I just want to ask this once again:
If I keep the revs between 3- 4 K RPM, on 5th & 6th gears, is there any harm?
Kindly guide me.
Ride safe,
Shreyas
Hope it benefits you.
I did the oil change at 190kms, because from all I could compile from the advices, it made sense.
I read that most of the 'hard activity' during run-in happens in the first 150kms. I don't have any 100%-backing to this, but it's the best I could deduce.
Although, not having changed the oil filter (since it was out of stock) might have made the whole thing not really purposeful for me, I'm afraid.
Also, in the article that told about "most activity being in the first 150kms", the writer was using Mineral Oil. R15 comes factory-filled with SS (I did not know this before I did the change).
Following common sense, it could be thought that SS at 150kms won't be as "full of tiny metal particles" as Mineral Oil would be at 150kms. So, it appears it's better if you keep going a bit more before doing the change.
But, I can say this: I could feel considerable difference after the change. It was a smoothness, especially the gear-shifts.
NOTE: These are all my personal opinions based on different sources whose accountability I cannot fully ascertain. I really don't want to create false information and if I was doing just that above, please do point out the mistakes.
And about the speed. As many explained, only RPMs matter.
Don't ride in a particular gear for a prolonged period of time.
Keep shifting through the gears and varying the engine speed.
Try not to reach top gear in a hurry as is done in normal conditions.
I'm now at 530kms and the chain looks very dry.
Got the TVS TruSpray Chain Lubricant (325/- incl. taxes from TVS SVC).Last edited by AravindJose; 02-16-2012, 01:30 PM.--

Thanks AravindJose..
I shall wait for a little longer then, say 400-500 kms and then change the oil and filter. Then once after 500, 6.5-7 K RPMs..
Now that makes me happy(I'm NOT impatient though)..
Also, shifting to 6th at 3.5-4 K RPM wont be a problem, right?
Thanks,

1. Frame sliders/Crash bobbins are small Frame sliders, are an accessory used on street motorcycles for the purpose of maintaining the bike's side fairings and internal components in the event of a crash, or preventing damage from dumping (dropping) the bike. just like you put crash guards for bike witout fairings, Sliders are used for faired bikes.Originally posted by ArriveAlone View PostWhere can i get Frame sliders/crash bobbins for the version 2.0,anywhere in Chennai ?

2. it looks like this, check the pic
and i think its not possible to use frame sliders for R15 V1 and V2 as there is no mounting place on the bikes frame.'On the Road that never ends...'

Reaching 6th in that rpm range is fine as long as you have the speed.Originally posted by shreyassave View PostHey,

Avoid very early shifts though. Take your time

My two cents - Don't play with the bike until it is atleast 10 -15 k old..Plus never overlook the warranty aspect..Originally posted by achelis8 View PostHas anybody installed the Daytona step plate kit on the R15.....

My R15 Version 2 (Sunset Red) coming in on Monday (hopefully) + Queries!!
Hey guys,
I'm a newbie here, this is my first post ever and I'm not writing this post to brag off about my *soon to be* new bike...
But even if I was it'd be no sin. After all, its THE R15V2 we're talking about.
So, the dealer just called me telling me they've "somehow arranged an R15V2 from some other agency". To be honest, I dunno why but I have a weird feeling about this. So, after waiting for it for almost 2 and a half months, here I am.
Honestly, I've been unable to decide which color to choose between The Moto GP anniversary edition and Sunset Red. Even now, I'm not sure. Even though I can get he white one if I wait a li'l longer and my girlfriend's strongly with the white one but Sunset Red is what's being passed down to me so...heh!
[Anyone please object to this or convey your opinion to me as a part of me still wants to be stopped.]
It just doesn't feel right. Don't get me wrong, I've been a Yamaha fan ever since I've ridden a bike for the first time and I own a bike [FAZER] which should LITERALLY hate me now. It was love at first sight but I guess, marriage can really change you. I ruined the run in, skipped a service and didn't put the effort in our relationship that I could've BUT to my surprise, she loves me like crazy. We've had some great times and I've NEVER had a problem in almost 2 years, not even a nut out of its place. That tells us of the magnificent craftsmanship of Yamaha. [I know I'm sliding off-topic here but please bear with me.] What I'm trying to say is, nothing else would satisfy me as much as owning another Yamaha. But this one, the feeling's not right. I've submitted Rs 10,000 to the dealership (Kurukshetra) but the manager says in order to buy the bike off from the other dealer (Panchkula), I'll need to deposit as much cash as possible to him this afternoon. I mean, do you guys think I should really oblige to that?? The sooner you answer, the better.
Sorry for the long post and if you're reading this till now, thanks! I really appreciate it! Again, my questions are:
1. Color choice??
2. (More importantly) Should I oblige to the dealer's request??Last edited by vdjjdv; 02-18-2012, 11:41 AM.

1. Color - IMO if you get the LE color, the con is that if something happens to the fairing, say after 3-4 years, will you get the same colored parts, just my thought.Originally posted by vdjjdv View Post1. Color choice??
2. (More importantly) Should I oblige to the dealer's request??
2. Deposit - I have never heard anything like this here in north that one has to pay more money to get the bike from another dealer, its just another way to collect money, but in anyways you will pay the amount in any case, so it depends on whether the dealer is trustworthy or notFare thee well xBhp, All the best for being the biggest name in corporate world
