Not at all... Initially the engine friction will be more for the first 500...
U will get a slight boost in mileage after first service... Mine gives the same 41kmpl... Will update u after the first service...

    • Guys, What petrol do you use for your R15...
I use Shell but now the rate of petrol at shell is Rs.10 higher than Bharat for one litre...
I used to fill 10 litres which costs Rs.100 more...
I just wanted to know if it is worth shedding out the extra penny at shell than Bharath.

              • I'm also confused Between Shell or Bharath Petroleum ?

                Hello Guys .

I'm also confused . Which petrol Bunk ? Please Guide me which one is the best . When i get my new bike , where should i First full tank my bike ?.

Bharath Petroleum ( Direct Government Bunk ) or Shell Petrol Bunk .

Note - One of my College mate owns Yamaha R15 V 1.0 . He faced a drop in mileage ( , when he was sued to put petrol in shell . He was getting 36 km/liter in city . ( From the Day 01 he used to put petrol in shell , he was getting 40 km/liter on normal drives but for the past 3 months his mileage dropped to 36 km/liter ( for same normal drives ) .He used o put petrol in K.K.nagar shell , Ekaduthangal shell and Chrompet Shell , Chennai .)

But when he just changed to Bharath Petroleum (( Direct Government Bunk )) Now he's getting a mileage of 45 km/liter in city ( Bharath Petroleum G.S.T road , opposite to the Airport )

How can it be ? I thought shell bunk provides us the Purest form of petrol and Correct Quantity ( For the past three months Does the Shell is CHEATING by mixing some stuff with petrol and providing less quantity than before ? ). But Now When he Changed to BP there is a hike in ihis Mileage , LOL . I'm

                Comments are appreciated .

                Cheers S.V.Prasad

                      Yeah dude,
The Waiting period is very painful! Even I waited for 4 months, 3 days to get this baby home..

But, in the end, Its worth the wait!

I used to have her in my dreams, I swear. I could see myself riding at close to 5 K RPM, mark, also used to control the throttle, not to exceed and stuff in my dreams! Once I even went to fill petrol, and the attendant asked some questions about my bike!
Crazy dreams I had during those 4 months!

Regarding the mileage, even I got close to 40+ during Run-in!

After run-in and riding close to 6-7 K RPM and sometimes to 8 K, I'm getting 35+ for sure. (Touchwood)

                          • Actually, a lot of people research on what is the best fuel for your bike and try various brands and fuel variants. Some even go about adding fuel addictive to improve the engine life and mileage.

But the main point is missed ! THE STATION ! The bunk facility where you fill in your fuel is the main factor, or sometimes the culprit, when it comes to fuel quality. A lot of things affects the fuel quality, and the bunk facility takes the biggest factor of it.

-Fuel storage tank. The temperature at which it is maintained. Hotter temperatures in the storage tank may result in lower density and expansion.
                            -The fuel density maintained.
-Tampering of the pump and readings, which may very well be possible in India.
                            -Adulteration.

So the next time you want to fill up the fuel, make sure the facility is in its best shape.

As for the fuel itself. Of the 2 lakhs KM of driving and riding, i have noticed that Bharat petroleum has been returning better mileage and engine response. I have particularly been using speed for the last two year, and i am happy with it. Had a bad experience with SHELL. Like i said, its mostly the facility. Maybe the one i tried was bad afterall. Worst is HP. Worst fuel on earth, whatever facility it maybe.

For note to others in and around Tnagar, Chennai- Have been filling fuel for all my cars and bikes only in EKAYARS BUNK in VN road. Best bunk in the city. Their density is never less than 999. All the supercars and superbikes of Chennai fill in there only.

So calculation wise unless and untill there's a difference of 5kmpl in the mileage between Shell and others, there isnt a point hitting the shell bunk.

I'm banking on Shell for the run-in. Expecting a 50kmpl given the way I've been breaking-in the engine. Dekhte hai kya hota hai..
