I would like to extend my gratitude towards XBHPians and this thread for such great initial reviews and the ownership experiences of the KTM Duke200.

I was constantly following the thread since the day I decided to buy the Duke200(June '13) and finally got it delivered on 16th of this month.

I still remember the first time I TD the Duke in Gurgaon(July '12), when I was working in Delhi.
It would be an understatement to admit that it was "Love at first sight"

My heart still skips a beat when I start my RX100 and is in sync with the exhaust note, I never thought I'll be able to feel the same way for another bike, but the Duke swept me off my feet with the first throttle.
I was over joyed by just revving a stand still bike in the showroom and couldn't wait to ride it.
Within minutes the bike was out in the sun, a pillion with a helmet sitting behind me telling me not to rev it quickly as it may get out of control.

I started the bike and slowly took it out of the compound and then it was all blur for the first 4 seconds(or I might say a single breath-out). I saw the speedo and it showed 67 !
Two hands clutching my waist and a helmet knock from behind as I eased the throttle.

It was decided then and there that this is "The Bike"
I was awestruck and my joy had no boundaries.

On my ride back home from Gurgaon to Noida on my beloved RX, I was smiling ear to ear and couldn't sleep that night.

It was all set ! But had a few difficulties at work which limited me to buy it in Delhi and had to move back to Pune.

In the meanwhile the Duke390 rolled out and I got a little eager and greedy(43ps), but the Duke200 had imprinted on me, and the love didn't fade away in a year, and the day came(after 2 sleepless nights upon being informed that it will be delivered on the 16th) when I rode my Duke200 from the showroom to my home in KP.

The bike read 5km on the odo when it was handed over with all the instructions(I already knew what was coming, thanx to you guys) so was prepared.

Its 360 kms on odo as of today !
And I still cant stop thinking about it even when I am not riding it...
Congrats dude..
Its fascinating how everyone feels exactly the same way with their first ride and delivery day of their dukes..!!

In my case it was different. I can pay less every month even if i need to pay 11k extra in the end than paying more every month. Reason: My salary doesnt allow me so much as i need to pay other EMIs and protein and stuff too Wish i earned more. I think now i will anyhow, coz i need bigger things. I need the akrapovic, the rear license plate holder and much more. God, shower your blessings upon me! ----consecutive posts auto-merged-----

Hey dude, my bad. It is around 30k for the akrapovic. 8k is for the Indimotard exhaust. Apologies. Damn man, i was having wrong knowledge and hence i was so happy to know i could buy one soon. Now i am tensed. I need the akrapovic soon! I gotta do something man!Btw, does an exhaust do any good to the performance of the bike or is it just for the sound? I mean, would it help in improving power, acceleration or anything of that sort? I have no idea on this. I need a stronger reason than mere sound difference to buy it with that much money coz i would first need to convince myself that it is veryyy necessary so as not to get second thoughts (budget based).

splus Nah, I don't think its that. The smell is there from the first moment I started it up while taking delivery.

Also, I have found the clutch on the bike to be much harder than that on the R15.

Hey,
yeah man exhaust do perform...any aftermarket exhausts are lighter than the stock ones.so there is an advantage.
another thing...yes you do get a 10% boost on accelerating after 3K-4K RPM.

You know that's bang on! The coolant level seems to be fine, however it is close to the min level. Also, found no bent radiator fins and they seem to be clean.

The heat will bring the coolant level up. Coolant can spill often if you have a spirited or engine gets hot, and then you turn the engine off straight after that. Or if you turn the engine off when the engine is hot and the fan is still running.
If that wasn't the case then check everything if there's some leak somewhere. And top up the coolant to be around middle. Just be careful not to turn the engine off suddenly before it cools down little bit.

I had few coolant leaks at the beginning when I got my Duke, but none after it. Engine heats up much more when it's new, which can cause the coolant to spill.

Just got mine (Duke 200) yesterday from Chennai showroom. After a prolonged wait, finally they game me the delivery (due to RTO delay in issuing the number). The showroom guy gave a brief demonstration on various options available in the information console which seems to be really impressive.

When asked about Engine Oil and Petrol Quality - He insisted me to change oil only at 1000 KM (may be repeating the book) and 91 RON is fine (he was showing the KTM Service Booklet on the backside it was mentioned as 91 RON). I am planning to change it to Mineral Oil soon after hitting 150 KMs.

The Engine looked very hot initially and the ride was really smooth. I can really feel the suspension is taking lot of bad roads and keep you away from the jerks.

Overall, I am happy to own the DUke 200 and I shall share my experience after a while.

I have the European manual. There are slight differences. The Indian manual recommends 20W50, though I feel 15W50 can be used.

It only emanates in the rains. I think it's when the engine heats up and the water/mud debris heat up along with it.

Duke's exhaust is very good already, so, as Doga mentioned, Akrapovic won't give you much more than just a slight increase in performance and just a different sound. I don't think the sound is even that much different...
On top of that you'll mess up the left-right weight balance, and reduce the awesome mass centralization which Duke has.
AND you'd lose a submarine feature that stock exhaust has, ability to work fully submerged under water for long time.

What WILL help to increase power, in Duke's case, is a ECU remap. Kiirus just knocked down the price of their ECU remap for Duke to Rs 8.5k (from 10k). That will give you 3 extra hp (total 28 hp, that's solid 12% increase), and rev limiter moved to 11,700 rpm. Much better power throughout the rev range, smoother revs in low end, with top speed increased up to 150 kmh and 0-100 kmh in 8 sec.

That's the best performance upgrade for Duke 200, IMO, both in terms of cost and performance increase.

I'm waiting to have a test ride of D390 and decide if I'll go for it or not, but if not I'll straight away get that ECU remap.
I've tried the ECU remap from RaceDynamics (which apparently isn't as good as Kiirus, and is Rs 15k) and it had much more grunt in mid revs than the stock ECU. Revs at 11,700 rpm were still not too "screamy", with lots of power.
