On top of that you'll mess up the left-right weight balance, and reduce the awesome mass centralization which Duke has.
AND you'd lose a submarine feature that stock exhaust has, ability to work fully submerged under water for long time.

What WILL help to increase power, in Duke's case, is a ECU remap. Kiirus just knocked down the price of their ECU remap for Duke to Rs 8.5k (from 10k). That will give you 3 extra hp (total 28 hp, that's solid 12% increase), and rev limiter moved to 11,700 rpm. Much better power throughout the rev range, smoother revs in low end, with top speed increased up to 150 kmh and 0-100 kmh in 8 sec.

That's the best performance upgrade for Duke 200, IMO, both in terms of cost and performance increase.

I'm waiting to have a test ride of D390 and decide if I'll go for it or not, but if not I'll straight away get that ECU remap.
I've tried the ECU remap from RaceDynamics (which apparently isn't as good as Kiirus, and is Rs 15k) and it had much more grunt in mid revs than the stock ECU. Revs at 11,700 rpm were still not too "screamy", with lots of power.

All I will wait for is an exhaust from RACECONCEPTS,Joel is a Genius on it,and MASS CENTRALIZATION? Like what???? its hardly 1.4 KGS like you wont even notice bro.and yeah you are right about underwater feature of the stock exhaust,But hey its not always we are gonna plan to take it in the water for a swim.

and about KIIRU's Guy ,Yeah They Are Good for their REMAP of an ECU for 8.5k.

Try hanging 1.4kg on the side of the bike. There is no way you'll notice a weight difference, but for sure you will feel the difference in balance.

Ok Guys, I could not hold the urge to remap my ECU. Getting Kiirus ECU remap tomorrow morning. Any feedback before I put the money? I love the massive low end, mid range and hooliganism of my bike in stock condition.

Will ECU remap affect that, will I be bargaining these thing for 3 bhp more?

Awaiting your feedback. Thanks in advance.

did you take the test ride from KIIRU's?
I've Read alot of positive reviews from their customers ..reading online, and a guy i even met at the SVC...but the real fun would be you YOURSELF trying and taking a TEST ride First of the ECU..and then decide to go for it or NOT!

Check with the MID RANGE power ...initial everything.

even i was planning to install it this month but again ,I spend the money so bad luck, may be in A months or Two's Time. (Y)

It's not only putting a 1.4 exhaust at the side, but it's also taking AWAY few kilos from center down, which helps the mass centralization a lot. Not just front-back, left-right, but in this case more the vertical balance. Those few kilos are all the way down, making the bike more stable.
Putting 1.4 kilo exhaust isn't only to the side but also higher up, and to the rear.

But anyway, if you want to put a pipe then by all means go for it!
Won't be much of a performance boost, nor value for money, but it's a fun thing to fiddle with (for some, not for me), and have a different sound...

Haha, I was just reading about D390, absence of reviews and mysterious silence from KTM, about delays and very small initial deliveries, and was thinking if I should get that Kiirus ECU remap anyway, regardless of if I go for D390 or not. Shoot first, think later.

I know they had a Duke of their own, but not any more. So, I'm not sure you can have a test ride.
You're in Mumbai, so you could go there, and maybe they have a spare ECU lying there so you can test ride it before you flash your own ECU.

But even for a blind buy I think it should be OK. Rs 8.5k isn't that bad. I only tried RD's ECU (I wrote few days ago how it has much stronger mids, so in streets it felt like a much more powerful bike, but also that the power wasn't losing its steam post 10,000 rpm, which is Duke's peak power), and was seriously thinking about it even though it's Rs 15k.
I recently posted a link with info and video on Kiirus FB page with comparison of those two where Kiirus beats RD in practically everything, lows, mids and highs. If Kiirus was even just equal to RD ECU map then I wouldn't think twice - it's great value for Rs 8.5k.
It's not just 3 hp more at the top, but it's more about stronger mids, much more useful in streets. And rev limiter at 11,700 rpm means the top speed in every gear is also higher, 3rd gear shouldn't max at 85 kmh any more but at around 95 kmh.

But, I personally haven't tried one so I wouldn't know...
I have read from whoever tried it that they're very happy, saying they even get better mileage and much smoother low revs, no jerks whatsoever.

Thanks everyone for your useful suggestions. I got my ECU remaped from Kiirus today. Since it has been just a day, I would share my intial Impression. I shall update it as and when it is possible.

Starting with, from intial reviews that I read online, it seemed ECU remap from Kiirus not only raised the rev limiter to 11700 but also made it more smooth.

Initially I was a bit concerned as I personally think D200 in stock condition is almost perfect for me. I like the snatchy (aggressive) nature, and the massive lower end torque.

I did not want to sacrifice any of those for few bhp's more and hence I called up Abhishek from Kiirus yesterday.

All the while he insisted that I ride the remapped version and I wont complain after that and he sounded vdry passionate.

With 2 minds I decided to go for it and reached his workshop in Sanpada today and we started with the ECU swap. He swapped my ECU with his remapped ECU.

My initial doubt that I would loose out on aggressiveness was banished the moment I twisted the throttle in 1 st gear.

To gauge bottom end torque, I normally release throttle very slow along with releasing the clutch, and that gives me an indication.

Moving on to higher gears, I could feel the rush and shove no matter how soon I shift the gear.

It was already fun riding in the city and with this remap, it has just added more spice to the process.

I initially thought D200 was perfect from factory, but with this remap I think the envelope has been pushed further.

Come on chinmayakar, we want more juicy details!
Tell us all about it, the power delivery throughout entire rev range, stock vs Kiirus!
How does it pull comparing to the stock one? Acceleration with shifting in 1-2-3-4 gears, and also in-gear acceleration?
Is it just a slight difference or easily noticeable?

I'm looking at more news about D390 and the delays, and more and more am leaning towards taking out my ECU and shipping it to Kiirus first thing Monday morning! (First I have to look up how to do it!)

A small but crazy suggestion :

                      * You may also try sprocket mod from stock to 38T /40T (don't know the stock sprocket size of 200) which will overgear the bike and increase the top end as shown in the video: ktm duke 200,top speed 161kmh.penchala link road - YouTube

                      * Ask Kiriius guys to remap the ECU according to the sprocket mod, which will help your bike in not lugging, knocking with the new over gearing set up.

                      * Spend a bit more on getting a slightly taller KTM windshield (if you have access to ones available from EU/Germany/Austria) which will shield you from wind blast @ high speeds.

                      Cheers,

Took a drive to my college yesterday... there is a weird sound coming from the front brake. It sounds like a combination of squeaking and whizzing but more of the latter. Could this be due to the brakes bedding in? The bike has only done 38 km.

Is there any oil leak somewhere..??
Or it could be just because of dust accumulated on the disc..
