Ya but there is also budget issue for me. Duke will be ON if i'm completely blown over, and NS fails to provide such RUSH

Just my personal opinion - I absolutely dont like the headlights of Duke

there is not a single part in duke which i dont like .. duke is the best looking indian bike to my eye ( except superbikes ) ... i would have liked it even more if it had an analog tacho though

        • My main problem is cost... If dad agrees then its 100% duke anyday... Not only neck jerking it jerks the hell out of you already tested my friend's bike to the fullest... Going for ns because of lower cost of ownership and maybe a bit more mileage... If one has the money then no point going for ns... Duke is surely an alien in this country... It even scares dogs

really ? ... actually we both have same options but one big difference for me is that my dad told me to go for duke instead of ns ..everyone in my family are like - " shut up ,, and buy duke " .. i think mileage of duke and ns will be same .. my friend has bought duke in june and he reports a mileage of 43kmpl in city when ridden below 6000rpm .. some duker here has reported mileage of even 60kmpl ( yes it was shocking for me too ).. tankfull method .. both bikes can deliver anything between 35-45 kmpl regularly when ridden sanely ...

                  • manufacturing date of the bike

In some of the above post i have seen people looking for their bike manufacturing date, I actually found it. you will find in your RC book or an RC(smart card) certificate of registration. This document is received to the owner of the bike in 45days from the date of purchase and there it is shown the MFG DATE

please note that some state do not have RC smart card available as i am from maharashtra it is available.

information found- checked my papers and found the MFG DATE and many more things.
source of the image - please note that i am not responsible for the image ,i found it in google image search and gave you the image

Coolant - A strict no, it is pressurized, it needs to be done by ensuring the mech is equipped with closing it in the right manner, perfect torques required. There is a pressure unit also required to check the coolant pressure and its temperature. Seniors can enlighten more on this. Rest all ok.
I ain't a senior. But you have to be careful when you are flushing the coolant. For normal topups you can do it alone.

Coolant chain should preferably be done by a good mech
Ditto. Even I was surprised to see people lubing it by tilting the Bike while on side stand. Because you can just move the Bike forward and Backward and lube the chain.

More or less same with Dukes a bit longer, but Dukes rear gets narrower towards the end. My advice would be to TD the Bike as a Pillion to get the real picture.
P.S. If you are not looking at the comfort what will you get by comparing the sizes???

No not fast at all, relatively at least. At most 80-90 before I had to stop at the signal. I anyway find it difficult to hit past 125 these days. Probably not shifting gears at proper rpms.

And that 96KM/L reading is of A_n_i's duke during his solo Leh trip I guess. Check out the travelogue's section. The pictures are pure wallpaper stuff. The place has come alive in those pics yaar. Awesome. Many Bengali's I know have this hobby of photography. What's with Bengalis and photography? and Ilish maachh ?and communism? and monkey caps
                      .........
You should hit more than 125 once you get a good road and enough open stretch. Any issue with the tire pressure, chain tension and chain lube???

BTW a little correction. Bengalis are fond of art and culture, so photography comes as natural. But why only Ilish maachh, it's actually any fish although Ilish is the king !!! And Bro, you are true it's communism redefined by the Green Brigade. Green is the new Red here!!! And Monkey caps are also long gone.

Same here. I could pull the bike from as low as 35 to 135 easily without any fuss.

Frankly speaking if you ride the Duke the way it should be ridden in a city you should get 30 - 40 max. Anything more you want in a city you have to ride it like a splendor, or better have to buy a splendor. In highways even if you keep it around 100 with occasional 130+, you should get around 45.

Thumbs up for finding out the above.
But 1stly, as you said the RC book will be available after 45 days from the dt of Purchase. But then whats the benefit of it? You need to check out the manuf. date right at the showroom, before purchasing the bike, so as to make sure you get the latest production, and not the one which has been lying in stock for months.

2ndly, RTO manuf date cant be 100% trusted. I myself have seen (in case of Cars) the manuf date in RC being given in the month of Jan,2012(which was the purchase month by the way); while the actual manufacturing month as per decoding the VIN would be Nov,2011.

Quite true ... If you don't have budget constraint, then you should seriously go for Duke. Also if you calculate the price difference and check what all extra things you are getting from Duke you should never be in a confusion. The digital cockpit and USD forks itself enough to attract your attention.

Along with that goes - FI, fatter;gripper tyres, +2bhp, and My favourite - NECK JERKING ACCELERATION.
So, if budget is not restricted, then go with Duke for sure.
