Also if possible please share your maintenance price as few claims that Duke is very high maintenance.
This is an age old question that's been asked and answered many a times. Bumper to bumper traffic will increase the operating temperature of any vehicle for that matter. This is especially true for high compression engines. The 200 is a capable machine that can handle traffic with aplomb. But a traffic that is chock-a-block it does heat up a little bit; again one the bike is on the move, everything should get back to normal.

    Cheers!

    The girl said, 'NO!'

And the guy lived happily ever after and rode motorcycles and watched sport on a big screen TV, went fishing and surfing, and played golf a lot, and drank beer and scotch and had tons of money in the bank and left the toilet seat up and farted whenever he wanted.

mileage is around 20-23Km/L in traffic. It might drop further in bumper to bumper traffic.Highways it will give you around 30KM/L.
The regular maintenance will cost around 2500Rs. I think its an reasonable amount provided you take care of the Duke properly with regular chain lubing, slack adjusting.

The 'heat-up' is NOT an issue. It's just how the bike is. In traffic, you will feel way more heat on your legs (especially if you ride in shorts/chappal) compared to any other sub 200cc bike. You better test ride a duke and see if you can handle it's 'hotness'
In normal city riding (regular traffic, sane riding most of time with a bit of spirited riding thrown in), it will easily return 32+ kmpl. Spirited riding most of the times and heavy traffic would push the FE down to around 25+ kmpl.
On the highways, if you keep it below 85kmph it will easily return 38kmpl, and as you go above 85kmph the FE starts slowly coming down to around 32kmpl when ridden at 90~95 kmph. And also remember that if you are someone who does short rides (say 5km one way to office and back again), then expect 30kmpl because short rides sap more fuel be it any bike.
So rounding up the FE talk, most folks easily attain at-least a 30+ kmpl FE most of the time (and some even close to 38kmpl in city).
And no, this bike is not 'High' maintenance, 'High' being a relative term. I agree the paid service charge is a bit on higher side (Close to Rs.700 for labor), but the spares are pretty economical (and hopefully stay so). A routine service will cost you around Rs.1800 for spares including oil (add labor if it's a paid service).

Are you sure that the cap is tightening up properly?? If the threads on engine case are damaged, (rare case since the cap is plastic and the engine case is aluminum) then a leak might occur.
Am not sure if they sell the O ring separately.. but a new cap definitely does come with a O ring.
There is an alternative to the stock oil filler cap, i.e. a custom made nut type aluminum cap sold by one Mr.Dhaval (google it). It costs a bomb (i.e. around 450rs) but it looks nice and helps minimize tampering (you need a spanner to open it)
I have been using this aluminum oil filler cap for a long time (since the first service) and it hasn't caused any issues so far in the past two years. Only thing you need to keep in mind is to not over tighten this aluminum cap or it could strip the threads (just finger tight, followed by a wee bit tightening by a spanner)

I will check with the cap if SVC could not fix the problem.

Now I am not sure whether the O ring is available separately, when I last check several months back, it indeed was available as a spare. I'd suggest you get a new filler cap, use light silicone grease around the cap and seal it tight, this forms a temporary gasket and prevents leak. Works 100% of the time.

May be he is right. But i cleaned myself and tightened the cap several times but still there is leakage around the same area.
Only thing i must try is changing the cap completely.

I feel it is a big problem like engine threading is gone or something. Hopefully it is not.

It's highly unlikely that the threading of the engine casing has gone for a toss. If the cap slips even after turning them tight and/or slips after a tight spot then we have threading issue either on the casing or the cap. If the cap tightens properly and if you still observe a slight oil weep, replace the cap or or O ring of the cap.

            Cheers!

lets face it we all have some scratches on the tank cover ,

mine was faded and scratched by carrying small amounts of groceries under rolled up under my t shirt which would rub with the tank cover and eventually it ended up faded and scratched

i think the best solution would be to vinyl wrap the entire tank cover , hardly would cost 200 rs , but there are two cons

              1) the color of the vinyl should match with the oem paint job

              2) you cant have the oem duke stickers

but on the plus side , you can replace the vinyl wrapping easily once it gets old and change it to a new one >

Who is your current insurance provider?
Compare policies online & renew it before it expires. if you plan to keep the bike long (at-least another 3 yrs), then you could also get a 3 yr policy.
you could check the offerings from icici , hdfc bank etc.. on their respective websites. A few months when I checked, hdfc was a tad cheaper than icici while my existing bajaj allianz was the most expensive.
One small 'trick' to avoid calls from their sales folks.. Give a dummy mobile, email details. This way you will get a quote online and if you like it, you could start over and buy it giving correct info.

                            Whaat??!
It would be 'possible' but I don't think it's worth the effort. The ktm's have one of the best front suspension in the market.. First get the suspension checked for any signs of damage (especially the rear and if its covered by that plastic cap, which can hide leaks)
one small change you could do is maybe change the fork oil to the bajaj(made by hp, comes in a white/blue bottle at Rs.50 per 150ml) brand of fork oil. IIRC it's a slightly heavier oil compared to the 5W ktm fork oil (white bottle at Rs.98 per 150ml). This might stiffen the front a wee bit.
Also if needed he can adjust the preload on the rear monoshock (the stock setting at 3 is too soft), so maybe increase that to 5 if he weighs more than 70kg or regularly carries a pillion (this bike is best enjoyed solo)

Need urgent help. I'm stuck at Oberoi mall and bike just not starting. There is no error whatsoever on screen. As I was about to park the bike stopped and now it's not taking ignition. Nearest SVC is in Goregaon West but it's closed today. Anyone can tell me what's wrong? My battery is fine, fuel pump sounds as usual when switching on and temperature is normal since it's parked for couple of hours now. And Thane SVC is not answering where I get my bike regularly serviced.

Can some help me figure out what's wrong with it? Thanks
