Please Help Me decide..Am Almost Settled on CBR But Still Want some Suggestion
Assured comfort, mileage, vibe free and revv happy! But, all these are same for the R15 too., maybe except that mileage and comfort by a slight margin. 150R is for sure one of the best choices out there with 150cc except for its pricing. Regarding service, there are only a countable service experiences that are happy amongst the forum users. But, I would say you can live with that. And about deciding, go and see both the bikes in person. Your mind would calculate the pros and cons, but your heart would silently whisper a name, and that would be it!

No where Honda have officially claimed the mileage. But, you can find mileage figures in all the reviews. Our forum review claims 30-35kmpl.
The limiter kicks in @11,500 rpm just within a second after the first shift..And, that's where the fun begins !! ;)

It was Siddharth Patankar in one of the pre release 150R tests/preview who mentioned that Honda claims the ARAI figure for the 150R is 56kmpl if driven sanely.. but mind you, the max figure attained(i think by a user on this very thread on long tour) was 45kmpl. But i dont think anyone should show that figure to their dad before buying it because 56 is a figure that isnt attainable in any conditions.. Safe bet would be 35(city) 40+(highway)

                  • Great pics neevarp.

I need to send the bike to a different city, and railway folks absolutely refuse to take the vehicle unless fuel tank is empty and when started, engine does not run. My bad luck that an explosion happened in train last week, after which rules are strict. I had sent my RTR 160 last year and fuel tank was not empty.

Is it safe to empty the tank if I ensure it will not be switched on at all? If so, how can it be done? There is no fuel pipe accessible under the tank to empty it from. I asked Honda officials and they gave different answers - someone said it cannot be emptied under the internals are dismantled, another said it can be emptied by siphoning from top of tank but said even then, the fuel pump will be damaged even if engine is never switched on. Who is right, and what can be done?

                    Update:
Talked to a CBR specific mechanic at a Honda SVC, and he said it is not possible to drain fuel completely unless parts of the engine are opened up. So, sending by train is impossible for now.

                      • Panic from smoke

Today I started the engine and let it idle for 2 minutes. I smelled a foul smell. I thought it was something from the near garbage. Then I saw smoke coming out from my bike`s under. I was like . Then I switched it off immediately. After 10 mins of cooling. I again started. After 1 min I noticed the engine and saw smoke coming from the exhaust pipe which comes immediately from the engine. Its like being burnt slowly. The smell was so toxic. But I let it run for 5 mins. And the smoke stopped. But the smell never went off. I parked it inside and went outside in my Dio. I don't know whether I can take it to service itself.

It was parked for 4 days. I returned yesterday after the trip and this happens!! Now my long trip seems to be cancelled

Happens mostly with 2 strokes, Engine oil burning along with fuel can cause foul smelling smoke. Check it with the service.

That opens up the possibility of riding it to the destination. Wonderful, if you ask me, isn't it?
Where do you want to send it, I mean what's the destination? You can try services of GATI.

Bro, it seems the smoke is coming from the upper surface of the exhaust pipe and not from the inside along with the exhaust gas, right??
That should probably be some fluid leakage over the exhaust pipe, possibly coolant from radiator. Check with this cause too.
Did you start the bike today? Any problems again??

I was bugging dad to let me ride from Kerala to Bangalore even before that, he finally gave permission. Going home in a couple of weeks, can't wait to do the 500 kms ride and see how the baby CBR goes :P
