Hi Tarun, congrats for the baby Ceeber!

    1. Don't lug the engine. Period! 2k,3k doesn't matter, the engine should never knock, even outside run in phase. As a reference, upshift between 3.5k-5.5k RPM and u should be happy.
    2. If you do 30 kmph in 2nd/3rd gear, you'd get that restricting feeling. That's the same feeling you get if you downshift from 6th to say 4th at 80 kmph. Its called engine braking.
    3. Did you get discounts for the old model? If not, then that's bad. I guess your insurance premium and resale would differ by a teeny tiny bit too. But, all's well that ends well. Ride safe!

And ya, pass switch is a simple switch that activates your upper beam. In case ur upper beam is on, it doesn't work. You can toggle b/w low/upper beam for the same, but it is a bit cumbersome.
    Got a $5 head? Get a $5 helmet.

Thanks man for quick reply.... and making things clear...

I got no discount as such but a free 1000 bucks helmet....man the dealer made a fool of me...can i do anything abt it now?? and also abt the engine breaking....is it that tyres are running faster then enigne hence when clutch is not pressed tyres are trying to run engine and hence engine is opposing ??

The term engine braking usually refers to the braking effect caused by the closed-throttle partial-vacuum in petrol (gasoline) engines when the accelerator pedal is released. While some of the braking force is due to friction in the drive train, this is negligible compared to the effect from the vacuum.
When the throttle is closed, the air flow to the intake manifold is greatly restricted. The concept can be illustrated by the amount of effort required to blow/suck through a thin tube vs. a wider one. It is the work the engine has to do against this restricted air flow that provides the braking effect.

I was very excited but just before leaving the show room with my fireblade i took a test ride of CBR 250R and i was shattered, I m fresh out of my cllge and after 3 months of job cbr 150r was the maximum i could afford and also 150r is best for me according to my requirements (that includes ok mileage) ... but the feeling of power that came with 250r at my hands...can't forget that...
If it's any consolation - I owned a 2011 CBR250R for two years. However, I sold it and kept my CBR150R instead. Why? I found the CBR250R to be way too heavy for what it is. My ABS brake equipped version was 70lbs heavier than my CBR150R! And while the CBR250R felt incredibly torquey - it seemed to have relatively little top-end power - the power flattened out on top. It just didn't feel as exciting to ride compared to my 150R which handles noticeably better, is more engaging to ride, and obtains better fuel economy. Overall - the 150R just seems more fun to ride. Granted - the CBR250R had noticeably more power than the 150R - and could easily out-accelerate it. But that is where the thrill ended for me with the CBR250R. It helped me realize that bigger doesn't necessarily mean "better". Mike

True, being of a lower capacity the piston and crank is both lighter on the 150, which means it can rev a little harder than the 250 at top end (especially considering both are single cylinder machines). So for city commute and weekend getaways the 150 is a very capable machine.

I'm eager to read some other ride reports and view some photos of India's countryside!! I believe someone posted earlier about wishing to read more local ride reports. Granted - ride reports are a lot of work - but if you have the photos from a previous ride sitting on your computer - as well as the time to put them together into a cohesive report - it'd be great to see them on this site.

Hello everyone....i mentioned before that i bought my ceeber this monday (2nd) and today morning i went for a small trip of 85 kms(now my odo is 175kms) in outskirts of Indore city(industrial city...not much natural beauty). Boy this bike is a delight on highways....awesome ride experience and had no complains from the performance of the bike. Only this sitting posture made my wrist, shoulder and neck pain after half of the ride, at one point i wanted to take break but i didn't cause i was aware that this would happen and made it through. Breaks are just amazing, gives u unique confidence. Only problem that i faced was gear missing when i was shifting down whenever bike was stopped from 70+ kmph to 20kmph or down. whenever i made this big deceleration (range is big but rate was normal) i was unable to find 2nd gear after 3rd. My dad(who himself is expert rider) told me that u need to work with clutch by not pressing it completely and then u won't miss any gear...so in short i have to get more used to my bike since only 175kms are done till. anyway some pics from the trip, not a expert photographer ...just took pics of anything that looked beautiful...

I think its a bit overpriced, as you can see R15 has the same specs, better pickup and the added electricals (pass light+engine kill). I test rode both, and I bought the CBR just because of its comfort, both for the rider and the pillion.
Do test ride it before coming to a decision.

I disagree on this point. This is my first owned vehicle, and I didn't get much problem adjusting to its seating position. Plus I am using it daily in traffic for office (up-down ~20kms) since 7months and i am satisfied with its performance. If you're mileage conscious, it gives me an average of 35kmpl in traffic.
However I had some pain in the wrists after a 580km highway trip.

Mike, I always go with a time schedule to any trips. So mostly I dont take photos. I take very little amount of photos(Somewhere in this thread I shared some of my photos). I plan to buy a compact digital camera so that I can carry it in my pocket. I need to take photos a lot for future memories too. Maybe in the future, I might not have time to go on tours!!

IT depends on the body of individual persons. If ur a strong person, you will not get any pains. If ur arms are long, You will not even feel the pain. I dont have powerful wrists and I get pain. But my body gets adjusted after 200 kms. Initially, when I used in city, I got worse pains that I went for physiology treatment. After the treatment and some exercises, I got normal. I used to death grip but I managed to avoid it much as I can.

                          Hye there folks!

Havent been here in a while, but things seem good here! Duchess had now reached 7500 kms (in 10 months) with a few trips here and there. The longest trip has been from Manipal to Banglore (420kms on way) and back. Other than that there have been various one day trips all around this region. And there have been no major problems so far. Have, unfortunately, had 2 minor accidents which resulted in the fairings getting changed. And the coneset has gotten loose once thanks to the amazingly quality of the roads around here hehe. But no major problems whatsoever. Am done with 3 services. A few things that i have noticed about the bike-
                          1) The chain HAS to be tightened every 500-700kms. Becomes very noisy and loose else.
                          2) Honda in India use only fully synthetic oil for this engine (oil used in Honda branded), but unfortunately, so far as i have noticed, in long rides, the engine tends to become very rough. And gearshifts become hard. This might be because of the oil becoming too thin. (long rides here means 100kms+ continously)
                          3) The bike is exceptionally stable under proper cornering. I love riding the ghat and have come across a fair share of unexpected bumps and turns and if you know what your doing its very easy to get the bike to bend more or less or change your line through a corner.
                          4) While the brakes are more than sufficient for the power the bike has, they do not provide much feel. I find the rear does tend to lock up easily, and the front has never let me down, but it doesnt give me supreme confidence either. This may be down to the fact that the tyres arent very grippy, but then again, they are sufficient for day to day use.

Overall, its a blast to ride her everyday! Believe me when i say it, even the R15 doesnt give you the rush of screaming to the red line (and i have ridden the V1 and 2 extensively, my best friends own them ) On normal roads, the CBR is faster. Due to the softer suspension and the higher power. Yes torque is less, especially below 4000rpm, but keep the bike above that, and you wont ever feel that more is needed. Due to the less torque, managing the throttle is something you learn as you stay in the power band. And for those of you who havent taken your bikes near 10.5k, do it now! And see what the magic is all about.

I have some pics of myself with Duchess for the last 10 months, some which i have put up before, but doing it again recounting the memories!

Lenov, I second the above point, take our baby above 10k rpm you will feel a nitro powered cbr... haha........

My longest trip is 840 kms in single day (15 hrs). That too i was very new to bike riding.. i really felt very comfortable through out the ride... always have a glucose water with you, it does help.

I use to lean forward and ride in long rides as it helps to reduce the drag from air which also prevents fatigue.

The beach pics are really good. Your friend circle seems to have all bikes and its better to know about all the bikes.

Once I took the bike close to 10000k, it was exhilarating. When Im in highways, I always upshift at 8500-9000k, the shift seems so smooth.
