Re: Honda CBR 150 R
Thats one bad road to do those speeds. Although you can do 100kmph. Its full of uneven bumps which can throw you out of control if you misjudge it. Adding to that volvo's and bmw's speeding past you. And coming to your query, you have strained the engine although it can handle. Cant comment on fix, just wanted to say drive safeOriginally posted by Joel.r View Post

Yes dude!! ! After seeing a stretch road from the messy traffic I really misjudged the road...now really worried about the engineOriginally posted by siddharthsure View PostThats one bad road to do those speeds. Re: Honda CBR 150 R
This happens because on a side stand the petrol isn't level and it shows less always when tilted to left. You have to keep the CBR upright and let the petrol level balance out in the tank to get the correct value.Originally posted by Joel.r View PostSometimes when i switch on the bike the first bar blinks for sometime and once i ride it for 200m it stops blinking...(Everyone facing this Issue??)
Gears operating okay? How's it freewheeling - with engine off? Shouldn't be an engine issue, you however have the engine warranty right? Show it to the authorized service center. Usually its a little clip near the radiator cap that gives a sound of some vibration, but if you say there's big difference in smoothness and power delivery then you need to get it shown. Check the drive train first - Chains, sprockets, gearbox. Should be clean and none of the sprocket teeth damaged.Originally posted by Joel.r View PostTwo days back ,i rode my bike at the speed of 110-130 for about 20minutes in chennai bye-pass (Ambattur I.E - Tambaram) and from that on, the sound of my engine is changed ,also its smoothness is now nowhere.....Now when i ignite the engine a buzzing sound is coming the whole ride??( its not cooling fan running or buzzer because the sound comes only after the engine starts running not by turning on the key)
Hope it helps.

Joel Run it in slow my man... if you want engine finesse... you 've got to run the machine in slow and easy... 2k odd kms down the line you're doing 130s isn't going to help your engine stay healthy trust me... when you need it most, it'll show its ugly head... Cannot stress the importance of running in a bike...Originally posted by Joel.r View PostNot that new 50 days old...

Re: Honda CBR 150 R
On paper, 2.6k is enough to wring the throttle and be at WOT all the time. But, in practice, there is nothing as such.Originally posted by Joel.r View PostNot that new 50 days old...

See bro, doing 120-130 odd for 20+ mins non stop is going to harm any 150cc bikes engine, no matter even f it has run for 50k kms.
Let me give yoiu a simple formula to ensure you never screw your engine.
"Ride till 75-80% of the engine's capability in top speed."
Assume 100 is the top speed of a bike, you can cruise all day long at 80 without any harm to the engine. Periodic bursts upto 100 is ok. But those bursts should be in seconds and not minutes.
120-130 is the band where CBR 250R cruises. In fact 130 is the upper limit for it too.
Even race spec MotoGP bikes which constantly do 200-250+ need to be striped down after every race season.
Hence, if you want reliability, keep that wrist in check.
Want more speed (along with reliability), save $$$ and get a bigger bike!Got a $5 head? Get a $5 helmet.
Because everyone who passes, isn't a martyr!

Re: Honda CBR 150 R
Hi guys, I am planning to get a Baby-cbr, hope I get my questions answered here..
First question to ask, Is this bike a good tourer?? does it have a comfortable seating position?? does it allows you to keep your back posture erect??(i am 183cm long)
For longer road trips I prefer to ride at night to cover maximum distances to save time as well as to avoid traffic (approx. 550 - 600 kms in 11pm-6am window). Can this bike perform same tasks?? cruising at 110-115kmph for hours with relaxed engine + throw some light on headlamp performance.(It would be great if somebody provides speed range in 6th gear like __kmph at 4k, __kmph at 5k.. ect.)
and last thing to ask is the braking performance??
I have seen nobody regretting about their choice on this thread, but still have to ask this, Is cbr worth the cost?? shall I go for it??Last edited by nikhilym55; 08-31-2013, 04:19 PM.

Yes CBR150R is a good tourer. You can log in many kilometers on the odo at a stretch.Originally posted by nikhilym55 View PostHi guys, I am planning to get a Baby-cbr, hope I get my questions answered here..

The seating position is comfortable compared to other bike in the segment. But you won't be able to keep your back straight. In fact you will feel your body weight on your wrists to some extent.
After a couple of hours you will start to feel the strain.
Next this bike cruises very comfortably at 95-100 kmph.
I have done 150 km in a day and the bike didn't show any sign of strain cruising at 95 -100 kph. Although I am not sure if it would be healthy for it to constantly go at 115-120 kph.
Head lamp illuminates the road pretty good. No complains there as well.
Braking is simply phenomenal. Best in class I would say.
So summing up cruise at 95-100 kph the bike will give you no problems.
But looking at your requirements 250r will be better suited to your needs. It cruises easily at 130 kph.
Comfort its same in both.
Bury if you want zero strain in your back plus the above requirements I think you should go for a cruiser rather than a sports tourer

Re: Honda CBR 150 R
The ECU will determine the fuel level only after some riding. Its not an issue at all! When the bike is in side stand, the levels shown are wrong.Originally posted by Joel.r View PostSometimes when i switch on the bike the first bar blinks for sometime and once i ride it for 200m it stops blinking...(Everyone facing this Issue??)

The buzz sound is created by the fuel pump and its normal. It might go away sometime or it might stay. But actually when u ride in traffic or cruise in highway, you wont even hear it.

Its a capable tourer as I usually go on long rides only. Initial rides will result in wrist pain and shoulder pain. Its comfortable for this segment. This is not a commuter bike.Originally posted by nikhilym55 View PostHi guys, I am planning to get a Baby-cbr, hope I get my questions answered here..

About the headlight, its the best spread and its powerful.
The bike never felt tired at all. Its me who was getting tired. I drove a 400 km ride and still the bike went like a charm inside the town in traffic. In 6th gear, you can range from 65 to 120kmph. At 90kmph, I was hovering around 6 to 6.5 k. This is still variable.
This is a mixed bag. Lots of owners have reported either better front brake or rear brake performance.( For me its the front brake which is great. My rear is like too spongy sometimes)
At last, the cost for me it is little high, but still the machine is good.Sometimes you gotta run before you can walk ! - Tony Stark

Re: Honda CBR 150 R
It is relaxed. The engine is so smooth after you ride for 100 kms. Initial 1500 kms might differ. This rpm range can be varied. I never strain my bike!! Ride in different rpm`s a lot when u take the bike for long rides!Originally posted by nikhilym55 View PostThank you Mr 2wheeled flyer and Mr mulli84 for such a quick reply... got my queries answered very well...

Re: Honda CBR 150 R
Just completed a ride report with a friend that involved riding my 2011 CBR150R and his 2008 CBR125R on a two-day 900km adventure in Northwestern Ontario, Canada. Had lots of fun. Even sampled a 1987 Ninja 250 on the trip. You can read all about it here:

Here are some photos from the trip.

Re: Honda CBR 150 R
Are you sure its from the engine? I had a similar buzzing sound recently, and came to know that when i hold my windshield, it disappears. Its my windshield vibrating actually; yet to fix it.Originally posted by Joel.r View PostYes dude!! ! Re: Honda CBR 150 R
Hello everyone.... my self Tarun and i bought my CBR 150R(std red n white) this monday, 02/08/2013. I was very excited but just before leaving the show room with my fireblade i took a test ride of CBR 250R and i was shattered, I m fresh out of my cllge and after 3 months of job cbr 150r was the maximum i could afford and also 150r is best for me according to my requirements (that includes ok mileage) ... but the feeling of power that came with 250r at my hands...can't forget that...anyhow...very glad to join you guys....i have been following this thread for 1 month now and it really helped me a lot....i have few small queries so any reply will be really helpful...so here they are:
1. Some where in this thread i read a suggestion of never running your engine below 3k rpm...i am a smooth driver and i do notice some times with in lower gear my rpm will vary between 2.5k to 3k...but not for long....just want to know that its not any major or minor issue..
2. One day suddenly while driving with my frnd slowly near 30 kmph i noticed that on leaving the throttle completely i was getting a big drag from the bike as if something was hindering with tyres or something....at 2nd or 3rd gear...it kept happening...i stopped the bike and killed the engine and rolled the bike forward to chelc for any fouling but found none such...also no sound of draging was coming as earlier while driving.
3. I m 22 and new in bikes but a lot abt engine functionality (thats how i make my living), but i want to know abt the switch gear, before buying the bike i was aware of the disappointment about the switch gear...of how waste its and i also read articles telling honda is now providing with pass light. now i don't know what pass light is and how it function?? can't we ask for passing by using dipper?? and also at first what i used to think as modified switch gear turns out to be old and now i realize that in 9th month of 2013 the dealer sold me a 2012 model bike....feeling betrayed...
... also i came to know that the new switch gear is no good too and that it doesn't provide parking lights alone....man i love parking lights....so i guess i was lucky??
i know too much to ask at first time ..srry guys...but need help..
