Do these cracks in tyre are usual?

From recent times I also fell that at high speed I am losing control.
One more thing, the guy from ASC also told me that I need to replace my "chain chakkar". So what it really is? Is it the cause of problem?

My motorcycle is 2.5 years old and has run 12000km.

      Hi,

This is a very common thing that happens to tyres, and the marks which you have posted look like they are due to riding on tiny glass shreds. You need to avoid broken glass shreds on roads as much as possible or they might damage the tyres. Rest of the wear and tear is due to usage/climate and it is normal for at tyre to look this in 2.5 years.
Chain chakkar is basically the chain sprocket kit which the ASC is referring to. The kit includes a 1.new chain and the 2.sprocket with teeth on which the chain fits into which is located on the rear wheel. These are usually changed every 2 years, depending on the kms as well.
Once you change it make sure to lube the chain as the chain on the CBR is not covered completely. So washing the bike also reduces the lubrication and dirt also sticks onto it, so applying a good quality chain lube will maintain both the chain and the sproket(chakkar).

      Regards.

        - Though Im also concerned with mileage, which is pushing me away from 250r as owners reported mileage of 30kmpl. how much cbr 250r can return on highways if cruising at a speed of say 100 kmph.

        - cbr250r is like 36k expensive than 150r and in that I will get 100 more cc more torque, bhp minus the mileage. So that make me think to go with 250r but then NO ABS for base model of 250r.

I had a budget of 1,30,000 but thought of pushing it further considering what I'll be getting more by paying that 40k extra.

So is 150r that less powerful than 250r?
        Hi there,
CBR 150 easily handles cruising at 110-120. It didn't struggled at all during my 1200 kms trip from pune to my home town and back twice. Also it returned a great fuel efficiency of 39 kmpl.

CBR 250 is ofcourse more powerful than the 150 sibling but the younger one is not that less. If you can pull your budget little more further go for 250 or else 150 is also a great option.
        Happy Riding....:D

          Hey everyone, the
I own a 5 month old ceeber. Have not faced any problems till now. But from today a strange vibration is coming from the bike. I came back from a trip to a driving beach yesterday. There was a lot of sand stuck everywhere. I washed it myself. Now when I ride and hold the clutch completely I can feel a vibration in my footpegs. There is no sound caused. It is just a periodic vibration. Frequency of the vibration increases when i ride faster. There is nothing visible in the tyres and chain too. By vibration I mean a normal jerk when you ride over a small stick or rod. I have absolutely no idea what this is. So please help me with this everyone.

Could be due to the loose chain

                  Hi

I am new here, so maybe this is not the right place to ask. If so then please redirect me.

However, I am considering buying a new CBR 150R sometime soon.
Would the owners of this model recommend this bike for long time use/ownership.

I already test rode the bike for a considerable distance (10+ KM) along with a pillion rider to check if they can sit comfortably.

I liked the bike's feel although the idea of which gear I was in was very confusing.
The pillion rider also said that he found it to be comfortable. I am not used to the seating position of CBR, so I found that a bit odd.

Since the bike is not seen that commonly in Bangalore roads like a Duke, Pulsar, etc, wanted to get feedback from owners of the bike as to whether its a good vehicle to own?

I don't normally ride very fast and seating/riding comfort and reasonable maintenance is something I am looking for.
Vehicle is for daily use of about 30-40 km and sometimes more.

                  Please suggest your thoughts/opinions.

                  Thanks

I am proud owner of cbr150r, just completed 12000 kms in 1 year. I must say, cbr150 is the best bike you can buy for long term ownership. Stock cylinder bore kit will surely last for 100k kms.

When you get used to the bike, by seeing rpm and speed you will know in which gear you are!! ( My method 😀 ).

Cbr150 is reliable bike. For 12k kms of ownership i only paid servicing cost. Which is 800-900rs per servicing. Service schedule is 4 month or 4k kms.

Fuel economy is 40 kmpl for city, 45 kmpl for highway. Cbr150 gives 45 kmpl FE on constant triple digit speed on highways!!

                      Thanks Bala

Some things I noticed on the bike:

                      1. There does not seem to be a mudguard for the back wheel like say the R15. Maybe the rear shock-absorber will get caked with mud, etc?
                      Any way to avoid this?

                      2. Same thing seems to hold good for the mud splashing from the front wheel on the radiator during rainy season.

                      3. Can we use Castrol or some other engine oil for smoother engine performance after the run-in period of the engine?

                      • Re: Honda CBR 150 R

                        Nice observation 👍

                        1) shock absorber doesn't get caked by mud in rainy season. But pillions foot may get dirty due to mud splashing from tyre.

                        2) this is the only thing i hate. The size of the front mudguard is small, due to this mud get splashed on radiator fins. You have to do periodic cleaning of radiator by toothbrush to clean that mud.

I think honda did this to get more airflow to radiator and keep engine cool!!

                        3) Honda's throttle fs 10w30 itself good for cbr engine's. Like made for each other. Till date I didn't used any other oil than throttle 10w30.
Best way to keep engine smooth is, don't change engine oil brand and oil grade many times. Stick to one specific brand and grade!!

                            Hi ivpatrick,
I have been a proud owner of CBR 150R since last 1 year, been very satisfactory 1 year. I use it for daily office commuting and in blore traffic its fun and hassle free.
The new MRF tyres work like charm and grip levels are much better than older version of 150r.

For the new vehicle u can ask for free seat covers, and free teflon coating from the showroom. I was lucky to get them.
Make sure u do the pre delivery checkup very thoroughly and then only take the delivery. Generally showrooms do not give Saree protector with the bike, but it is included in the price you pay. So better take it and then u can remove them if required later. But as for me it looks cool and i use it to put my helmet straps in the saree guard and its the best way to store your helmet in parking. (If you know the place is safe and nobody is gonna take the helmet from the place eg: office parking).

ThanksI think I am ok to book one. Will ask for these things and also ride around to check for any issues on the bike before taking it.Any way to add some covering for the tank and also the rear shock and radiator as these 2 may have mud splashing on them when it rains. For a brief period in between I was thinking of the CBR250R, but I realized its quite heavier than this one and also has much more HP and torque which in my opinion may not be used too much in the daily city commute. I have also read that the 150R is good and does not disappoint, so staying within budget and not stretching it any further

Buy the 250 boss. Trust me, even the 250 can't pull in 2nd gear at 10 kmph. You will have to shift to first gear.

Also the 250 will prove to be the better bet if you are planning to keep the bike for long. You won't get bored of it that quickly.
