    Guys.,

which is the best, scenic and twisty way from mudumalai to ooty...????

    1. via Gudalur
    or
    2. via masinagudi

P.S: Though I've been to Ooty 'n' number of times., this is my first time from mysore.
Please advise those who've been already.

On a side note, going to CBE via Ooty starting this Saturday morning and will start my return leg on Monday morning.
The limiter kicks in @11,500 rpm just within a second after the first shift..And, that's where the fun begins !! ;)

Oookaaay. Saw an Orange cbr150r rip through traffic today morning at around 8.50 along the nh47 about 5 or 6kms from vytilla. Really hope it was not anyone from here because what I saw was zero regard for traffic rules as well as other motorists.

You missed the fun part. There are 36 hair pins on the masinagudi - left - ooty stretch. You could have come back via Gudalur on the return leg as taking these curves while descending is a little stressful. (Its very steep) .

Hey guys. So, I was planning a trip from ernakulam rush to Chengalpattu mahindra city. The distance is shown as some 630 kms. Any suggestions, as thus would be my first long trip (beyond 250 kms). Suggestions like essential kits, gears (nutrition I can manage) and if anyone there has undertaken a similar trip, any advice would be greatly appreciated. :-)

Don't rush. Take time. Eat light. Sleep well before the ride. Drink lots of water. Avoid cold drinks. Take breaks every 100 kms for at least 20 min. Needed for u as well as the bike. Carry all documents. Carry spares like clutch cable, accelerator cable, puncture kit, TORCH etc.

                  Ride safe!

No issues there - everything in order. I even brought the bike into the shop to have the valves adjusted, but the clearances were fine. The vibrations were getting so bad that it became irritating and aversive to rev the bike due to vibrations and noises coming from my windscreen and through the bars. THEN - out of boredom one day I decided to change my sparkplug. I replaced the stock plug with an NGK CR9EIX (Iridium) one and on my first ride noticed the bike had been immediately transformed. No more vibration. The contrast was unbelievable. This made all the difference. It was how I remembered the bike as new. Keep in mind that my bike only had about 7000 kms on the stock plug, so I didn't even consider replacing the plug as a possible solution to the problem. And perhaps I may have experienced the same benefit had I just replaced the old plug with a new stock one. But I generally prefer the cooler Iridium plugs anyway. Either way - it's a cheap option - and worth giving it a try.

We can't. Its designed that way. We MUST however ensure that the chain slack is within correct limits though! Also, it must be regularly cleaned and lubed.

Daniel - yes - absolutely a loose chain can produce that kind of vibration, as Divya Sharan corroborates. And yes - you need to follow the chain slack guidelines indicated in your owner's manual, and regularly clean and lube your chain. The chain doesn't technically stretch, it wears and that contributes to its extra length. Not sure if the stock chain in India is a non O-ring type chain. If it is - you will find that switching to an O-ring chain or perhaps even better - an X-ring chain - will extend the life of the chain considerably leading to less wear. (D.I.D. make great chains). Of course - you'll still have to clean and lube it. I use a rag and spray the chain with kerosene (it's safe to use with O-ring and X-ring chains) and wrap the rag around the chain and slowly turn the rear wheel with my other hand to clean all the links. After cleaning it - I spray it with Dupont Chain Saver. It goes on as a liquid, but quickly dries as a waxy substance. When dry - it not only lubricates the chain, but its slippery nature helps prevent dirt from sticking to it - and seems to keep it clean longer.

Anyone here used semi-synthetic oil after 1k kilometer mileage? Is it too early to use it?
