Well he rides an Honda Activa ( ) and it's a little bit embarrassing for himself ... so he always wanted to buy a bike and i was the objection between him and the bike...

He occasionally started learning in my 220F but not being able to handle the 152 Kgs and 21PS of power he given up.
But he always wanted to learn it.

So he can ride ... but not that good ... he struggles at uphill start ... gear changes etc.

So i think i should get him something that's not that hard to learn and pretty comfortable to handle and something that looks good.

When i tried out R15 v2.0 ... It was all good.

It was nimble and forgiving ... and pretty easy to handle ... didn't have terrible bite on the throttle and very smooth too.

From what i heard it was pretty much the same in CBR-150R other than a smoother engine and a little more bite compared to R15 v2.0.

So i am hearing all kinds of things about these two bikes ... Which is more forgiving and little light on power delivery .?

Or should i get him a more suitable bike for eg. Pulsar 150 / Unicorn / Cbz / or even less powerful bikes ... just to start out.?

I don't want him to hammer the throttle , oblivious to the fact it might be the end of him , just to show off in front of his friends.

I want him to know it's serious business before he go bananas with his bike.

Apart from the good thing of you getting him a bike please make sure he gets the bike which he is comfortable with and also can be a good learning experience. you test riding is for yourself but what about him? if he is a college kid he will obviously go "bananas" with it. make sure he has DL and also learns riding safely and properly on the bike he is comfortable on. As far as i see both these bikes need better understanding of the pros and cons involved. not to forget the damages these bikes attract after a fall creating hole in the pocket for you. choose WISE

CBR 150R is not that good to handle in traffic. Better you consider the sub 80000 bikes if you are so concerned!

Though cbr has more bhp than r15, but it comes at higher rpm compared to r15.
R15 is torquey and powerful throughout the rev range whereas cbr comes to life after 7.5-8k rpm.
He will start respecting power and the machine gradually.
When he learns, give him some tips, and when he has learnt riding and misuses power to show off, its time for you to show him some bike crash videos instead of stunt videos.
Dont start with a pulsar. Pulsar for a beginner is a sureshot crash machine.
He would think 20 times before showing off on cbr and not even once before trying to popup a wheelie on pulsar. As he will know how much it costs.

Mate, as Viks quoted below and I am quoting him too here, its better if you give him sub 1L bike. Since he is struggling with P220's weight and the fact that he needs time to understand the gearshifting pattern of bikes, its better if he gets something which gives good torque output at lower revs. P200NS or Karizma R are good options. Lower Pulsar series are like injection of testosterone. Popping up wheelies, skids, burnouts is much easier to perform on these.

CBR 150R shows its cards once it reaches a bit higher on revs so your bro may not really appreciate this fact from the basic level. Trust me, he will say that the bike is underpowered. Once you teach him how to utilize CBR 150R's gem engine, it might become more dangerous.

He is at the start of the learning curve. Karizma R might be better choices to start off with but its heavier than P220 on papers. If you can make him learn the basics of gearshifts and power delivery, throttle control, he can very well graduate faster on bikes than you imagined.

Get riding gears too for him and its a must.

Wish you and your ride a speedy recovery mate. I hope you were wearing the gears of safety. While you are getting the bike in proper shape again, check for handlebar bents or swaying which might need attention to the chassis too.
