Hey guys!
I wanted to know if
1. Any one here has overhauled their engines.
2. If so, can you pull out the head and block from the top without removing the full engine assembly including the crank case from the bike.
3. And if so, is there enough space for your hands to fit while putting the piston back in the block.
4. Also, at how many kilometers and how much was the compression pressure before and after?
5. Has any one tried better quality valves for eg. Valves of the KTM duke 200 which possibly has same valve stem, seat and face.
6. Is there a fix for the tappet sound when the engine becomes hot like changing the valve guides or something?
7. Since our connecting rod main bearing is a shell bearing, is there any way to remove the bearing without opening the full crank case?

2. Service manual does not say about taking the engine out for cylinder head and cylinder remove-refit.
4. 185 psi is very good. 155 psi is bottom limit, below that is poor, you'll have to open up the engine shortly.
6. Tappet clearance decreases as temperature rises, but your problem is noise when temperature rises, which means the oil is losing viscosity when the engine gets hot.
7. Can be done only if the crankcase has a bottom cover, as in cars.

Has any one here fitted high lift cams or had their cams ground?

6. You are right about the company keeping too much clearance. I used to get the gap set at about 75% of what the company recommended (in my P150), because standard clearance was giving tappet noise! Not done that in NS yet as there is no noise so far! Maybe you can try if the 75% method will work. And be sure to set the gap after the engine cools down to room temperature!
2. The head remove-refit will be fine, but refitting the block with the rings in place looks a bit tough, given the tight gap of the frame. The manual says it's done on the bike itself. And there's no radiator removal either, for access from the front
Since I have not done it on my NS, can't say for sure. Maybe someone else here can tell us.

Yesterday got the bike back from the SVC.

Had given the bike for the issue of hiccups. They kept the bike for a day. Got a call from them that the bike is ready. I went for picking it up, had a word with the mechanic he told me that the hose weren't seated properly. So he opened everything, cleaned the and assembled it back. I took it for a quick ride around that SVC. So couldn't figure out much but the throttle response had become crisp.

Today while climbing up an over bridge at 6th gear there were huge hiccups at 5k rpm. Maximum hiccups start in 6th.
krixna and other experienced members, please help.

Now fed up of these problems and visiting the service centre.[emoji21]

Has anyone got their crank bearings checked ? I went to Krishna Bajaj at sec 14 gurgaon and they quoted 4,500 just for checking. I do not know how much should the price be so i held off on that for now. So asking the folks here ... please advise

Ok update.. had to take my bike to another svc centre ... the buggers kept the bike for the entire day without even starting work on it and 5 pm they call me saying that i will get the bike after 2 days... 2 days for just regular stuff and changing the cone set. Hell no way ! Got my bike back.

Svc centre 1 said crankshaft bearing may be loose and quoted 4.5k for just opening up the engine.

The second svc centre i went to said the rocker arms seems to be the issue. A customer spoke to me and told me that this svc centre has the worst set of mechanics. When asked my is he here said he doesnt have a choice. His company motorcycle has been contracted through these guys.

Decided to give both a ditch and go to bagga link mahipalpur and grt my bike done from there. Will be going on sunday and updating.

Ns200 don't have connecting rod bearing on crankshaft , just a bushing. But to change it whole crankcases has to be removed.
And it's made up of good quality ,can withstand a lot of abuse , it just needs good lubrication. Here in my city , this work costs approximately ₹4000 .

For me it was too rich mixture, I adjusted it to 2.5-3 full turns & it's fine now .
Have u checked the spark plugs ?
