But I am using mrf masseter 140/70 in the rear and it is having superb grip. You can give it a try.
Better go with pilot Street VFM tyres

Needs oil change?. How old is your existing engine oil?. What oil are you using?. During the end of the oil life, you can feel harsh shifts or sometimes it gets stuck.

Try tightening the Lever holder nut. If that doesn't work then,

Change the Lever Shifter Assembly. The rod that links the Gear lever with the Engine case. That's the one. I had this problem before. Once changed just the Lever Holder alone. Problem came again. Change the whole assembly. Costs 70 rs for spares.

Problem I faced was I could upshift, but downshift became hard and was unable to shift. Soon, I had to drive in 5th gear all the Time.

One easy way to find is the gearbox shift feel itself. So, if you feel the gearbox cog is grinding or you can feel the cog at your lever, trying to mesh when you shift, then we have shifter drum or shift shaft issues, worse case. Secondly, if you feel resistance near the lever itself, meaning, if you feel the lever isn't offering any feedback that is hard and you feel the linkage is no longer connected to the gearbox, then you should check your gear lever linkages. Though what I said is a little "feel oriented" it should give you an idea. It is a little confusing, but you should get the knack of it. Let us know how it goes.

              Cheers!

Once upon a time, a guy asked a girl 'Will you marry me?'
              The girl said, 'NO!'

And the guy lived happily ever after and rode motorcycles and watched sport on a big screen TV, went fishing and surfing, and played golf a lot, and drank beer and scotch and had tons of money in the bank and left the toilet seat up and farted whenever he wanted.

              THE END

How often does everyone around here adjust the tappet on ns? Although it is recommended every 500kms, I find it quite time-consuming to keep up with it. I.e take it back to mechanic after every 500kms, let it sit for 2-3 hours, then make him adjust it and then get it back.

If somebody is already doing it by self, can you just post a DIY for the same? Or provide a link to the same?

There's a YouTube video on tappet adjustments on the 200NS. I'm also about to attempt this on my own - DIY. I've purchased the head cover gasket already, and waiting for some tools to arrive before I attempt the procedure.

I'll document it on my blog at sgbikerboy.com when I eventually get to go at it.

Every 500km checking valve clearances??! Really?
It's usually once at the first service and thereafter at every service or as required(if you hear ticking noise)
500km even a RE would go longer without fingering the tappet adjustments!

                          Hi Guys

Posting after a very long time but i have kept up with the ownership thread as and when I had time.

Now since I am facing a problem, what better place to ask for suggestions.

This is a problem which had come up earlier as well. Basically my console (one with tachometer, speedo etc) resets twice. Once is normal when we switch on the bike but each time I press the starter for staring the engine the console resets again. Once the clock reset as well.

This had happened earlier as well (while the bike was in warranty) and at the time service center had said the battery has gone kaput and needs replacement. This was within the 1st 18 months of the ownership of the bike. The battery was replaced under the warranty and the issue disappeared.

Fast forward to december 2016 (almost 13 months after so called battery replacement) the problem has returned. As a normal person I took the bike to Popular Bajaj Service Station in Bannerghatta road Bangalore and showed them the problem. I did not tell them what was done last time. They kept the bike for a day and next day they said its fixed. I tried while being at the service center and it was working some how. I asked what they did, they said that they just checked some wires and if it comes back again then the console is gone kaput is what they say and would need replacement.

So a couple of questions arise, is it the battery that is the culprit here or the console. From my understanding its none but I may be wrong. I donot see any other battery related problems like the horn being weak or say the headlight being low. Neither I think the battery should die in a years or so time. The console also doesnot seem to be a problem as it was fixed somehow last time.

I feel this might be electrical problem but the service center guys are very reluctant to check it and I for a fact know would just push forward parts replacements on the bike which would cost me $$. So any suggestions or specific thing which can be done here would be very helpful.

Ensure the battery & charging system is working fine. A simple multimeter would suffice for this and any local battery shop will do it for you.
Also check the wiring connections, especially for a bad ground (there might be more than one ground connection on the bike) or loose connections (go ahead and inspect everything visually and also unplug and plug in the various connectors) don't forget to check the fuse/fuse box.
