the noise is because of the plastic cables , sockets and plugs coming in contact with something .. tell the mechanic to remove the speedo console and fasten all the cables below console with tape ..

limiter for duke is at 10500rpm and it is permanent .. dont know at what rpm for ns , but it will be permanent .. limiter is set to stop the engine from blowing up...

thats the sound from the cone set ... get it tightened .. get the cone set replaced if the sound is there even after it is tightened .. new cone set would cost around 300rs ..

looks like kolkata wanted to overtake bangalore in road tax ... 1.01 lakh in Bangalore and 1.07lks in kolkata .... didnt your dealer warn you about the rising road tax ?
bought my duke for 1.41lks on 23rd and the price was increased to 1.44lks on 25th .. god saved me
true yaar..seems like kolkata is competing with bangalore now though it can never even come close to bangalore...bangy is a much better place to live in... Dealer didn't even say a word about tax increase... Dip, who got his ns serviced from rolta today came to know about the increase at the svc and then broke the news to me... Rolta quoted him a price of 1.16 lakhs onroad... Then i called up my dealer and he said 1.07... I have doubt if price is increased so much...will confim from other sources tomorrow... I am very angry today... :/

      What are u saying man??????
Do u know from which day the taxes have increased???? Is it today??
I have got my bike, but did not get the regn papers. The dealer didnot tell me anything abt the tax increase on my purchase date. And i hav done full payment on the purchase date.
Can anyone confirm if I have to pay the extra tax??? I dont want to call the dealer myself to hear the bAD news

And, If I'm saved from the Tax, then looks like the bengali "BHADRO" month did not prove to be unlucky for me!!!

bad news from kolkata .. you people get ns after everybody else and then greeted with price hike .. looks like a steep increase which seems very unlikely .. 6k increase .. it was 1.01lks right ? ...

you will not have to pay extra , simply because you have submitted all the documents required for regn and the dealer was supposed to register your bike on the next day ..
it is his fault if he has not yet registered your bike ..

Exactly, my point too. but if he is adamant abt paying the excess money, 1st thing I will do, is shoot a mail to bajaj.

And the incerase is almost 10k....
I paid 97700/- on 29th as full payment.

          • It must be 1.5 ltrs. for 1 bar. coz bike has 12 ltrs capacity and there are 8 bars in fuel gauge. so calculate 12 / 8 you will get ans. this is my way of calculation but senior members can throw light on this.

the warranty will be void if you use any other oil other than bajaj 10000 dtsi , as per the owners manual. some advise to use this oil, some go for motul 3000 gold mineral oil 20w50. if you can convince the service dealer to change the oil for you without voiding the warranty, then go for motul - a highly recommended. just ensure that whichever oil you select it is not fully synthetic.

I want to clarify the way the fuel is measured. The number of bars displayed on the console never give you the liters of fuel available. and this is not only for the CBR, this concept is valid for all fuels tanks mounted on top of the engine.
The bars or the needle(for analog) only displays the level of fuel available not the liters of fuel available. For a 12 ltr tank, at half tank full you may or may not have 6 lts available. the bars are only showing the level of fuel as it senses the same through a floatation device.

the full display bars do show 12 liters int the tank, but half or 1/4th does not mean it has 6 lts or 4ltrs respectively
Just because you haven't seen it doesnt mean its impossible...expect the unexpected.

Guys, it's ture that WB ax rates have increased...

Here;s the link - Life time tax and one-time tax on motor vehicles from September 3 in West Bengal - The Economic Times

That was my bike! And I really don't know about 'satisfying Govt. norms', but the NS has about 8% speedo error.

In other news, I've crossed 3000km on odo and had a few niggles like coolant leaking completely and crashguard falling off! The coolant leak was because of a loosely fitted radiator hose. About the crashguard I was completely astounded! I got squeezed into a footpath by an errant Maruti 800 driver and the moment the car touched the crashguard it just popped off and clanked away! Lots of panels and parts need tightening I guess so Im gonna strip the bike and put it back together soon.

The bike's giving me about 33-35kmpl, and I aint a slow rider by any measure. Pretty happy with the bike and don't miss my previous steed the R15 at all (except when out touring, loved the wind protection on the baby 'R')

OT: you have to pay 1.5 lakhs extra for your car... busted..!
@rohan: its almost 10k increase though my dealer was not confident. Another dealer quoted 1.16 lakh...thats a bloody whopping 20k more... Earlier it was 96700

CAlled up @myth last night only. He will be going to the dealer today.
U can also try to go to the showroom today on the 1st hour and take any bike which is there in the showroom (still not booked by anyone), and force the dealer to submit the regn papers today only.
AFAIK, the tax rates are applicable on the day the u submit ur paper to the regn offfice..
But make sure by discussing with the dealer.

OT- It's not me, but my Dad who is busted for the car Also i Think there is something wrong in the current tax structure.. The hike seems to be too much. Even bangaluru has lower tax rates than that. Keeping in mind the road and traffic condition in WB, Mamta has to give some good reasons behind such hike..

and what the hell is the crash guard falling off ? IF that's the case, when it falls there is no use of it na?

Never rely on the irregular fuel guage not even the indicator. If you want just trust the manual fuel knob for changing to resv. Old School is still worth it.

                                Learnt this yesterday.
