Oh boy..!!! can any one confirm which carb we have? Old or new one?Originally posted by leodj29 View PostWARNING: the following post might be offtopic but it is of vital importance to everyone here.
I rarely post in here since the bike doesn't reach my country until at least mid 2013 but in this case I consider it necessary to post and in it is to correct you on the AFR explanation from your picture.
First I want to say is that I know I'm a newish member here and going by what I have read (the entire thread) some people in here tend to disagree or have no trust whatsoever on informational posts from newbies if you want to call us that, it is understandable though so now to the matter at hand to prevent people from messing up their AFR:
Unless the P200NS is employing an outdated carb (which I doubt) then what you have shown in the picture, i.e. clockwise for a richer AFR and counterclockwise for a leaner AFR is completely and totally WRONG, now comes the disagreement and distrust with the newbie but hold your horses fellow riders, here comes the explanation:
In older carbs the AFR screw used to be located nearer to the rear of the carb, hence towards the air filter, controlling the air intake to the venturi of the carb. For those cases what you say is TRUE since turning it clockwise will allow less air thus making the mixture richer and leaner if you turn it counterclockwise.
However in newer carbs like the mikuni UCAL in the P220 the AFR screw is located towards the front of the carb, therefore closer to the cylinder admission and hence controlling the amount of fuel in the mixture, so in these cases if you turn it clockwise you are decreasing the amount of fuel and therefore making the mixture lean, by contrary if you turn it counterclockwise you are allowing more fuel into the mixture therefore making it richer.
If your bike is cold (has been off for 6+ hours) and you turn it clockwise till it closes completely you'll notice that when you start the bike it will stall inmediately if you don't rev it, the reason being that the mixture has been made as lean as possible.
Now that being said I hope that people will not mess up their AFR by doing the wrong procedure and as a bonus I also have info about the shock preload/seat height controversy that will leave it as clear as possible for everyone but I won't post that to avoid backlash for contradicting a respected member on two topics of the same post so only if you want me to post it then I will.
Cheers, ride safe and enjoy your machines.sigpicUSED IN PAST: Ct100, Victor, Xcd 135For a true motorcyclist, the straight portions of the roads exist just to take him from one turn to the next!

my friend uses motul 300v on his duke and there is always some pista-badam milkshake smell when the engine is hot ..Originally posted by Rahulbarik View Posthaha...it smells quite good
when the engine heats up there is an awesum smell which comes from the engine...
well jokes apart..., yes 7100 is also a superb oil..as good as 300v at almost 250 rupees less... Its the full synthetic version of 5100...with single ester
pbk svc here has got chairs next to every service bay so that owners can sit and watch closely .. i too get involved and help the mechanic while servicing my bike ..Originally posted by Rahulbarik View Postwhyyyyy? All bajaj svc have an air-conditioned customer lounge fitted with glass from where you can see the service bay...
thats bad...

Nothing much but it does slightly increase the height especially for the pillion.guys , , height will be increased when the suspension spring is set harder ... i even have a cycle at home which uses a similar rear suspension .. tried it on that too..Originally posted by Rahulbarik View Postexactly.... @rahuldevnath: you are just considering the spring compression... You are not considering the height of the lobes which increases as you compress the spring... Basically you dont compress the spring...you compress the gas inside... Try it on the svc once... I told you i am 100000% sure...
Well rohan200ns did it on his duke. Let him confirm

Erm, isnt it just easier if someone turns the AFR clockwise and then notices an increase in performance then we can confirm because it sure as hell isnt becoming leaner if theyre getting better power out of itBikes Rule The City .... Cars Rule The Highway

i came across many posts here regarding gear shifting ..
guys , you are not supposed to leave and engage the clutch multiple times while downshifting from 6th to 1st .. you should be able to continuously downshift from 6th to 1st gear with clutch engaged only once .. this is when bike is moving ..
you will have to engage and leave the clutch multiple times to downshift from 6th to 1st only when the bike is not in motion..

First service
As I posted before, I gave my bike for service to check the reason for harshness of engine. And first service was completed at 334 kms. When I took it back it was at 348 kms. When asked about it, They said they had to check functioning of radiator, then had to test ride it to see whether the issues were resolved.
Cost of service -
Engine oil change ( 20w50 bajaj semi synthetic) - 396 Rs
Oil filter- 74 Rs
Labour - 8 Rs ( I still can't understand what this is for)
Total - 478 Rs
The engine is still a little rough now, but its better than before. The mechanic told it will improve as I ride it for a few hundred more kms. The vibrations at the tank recess have disappeared completely. Gear shifts were hard in the first few kms after the service but they are smoother now. So, I guess the overall experience was ok. Still Have to check whether there are scratches anywhere ( got it in the evening, so couldn't check )
And about the Afr screw, I am pretty sure turning it counter clockwise makes it leaner and clockwise makes it richer. And same goes for increasing and decreasing the idle rpm with the help of idle rpm screw. The mechanic did it in front of me when I had trouble starting the bike. I tried doing it and confirmed the above.Last edited by sagar_phoenix; 08-30-2012, 01:29 AM.sigpic

thanx for confirming rohan... And yeah i almost forgot bout my cycle too.... It also has an adjustable monoshocker at the rear and stiffening the suspension raises the height... Good point you noticed...Originally posted by Rohan200ns View Postmy friend uses motul 300v on his duke and there is always some pista-badam milkshake smell when the engine is hot ..

nice reviewOriginally posted by Karan_Pulsar200ns View PostHello Everyone...Just wanted to share a small Review of the bike performance..
Its just been 6 days i got my Blue NS delivered to me and already its 600 KM on the ODO...All thanks to the awsome Road Trip to Mysore from Bangalore..My ride includes 70% Highway Driving and 30% City Drive.. !!!
And i did maintain the speed limit to 60km/hr most of the times below 4K Rpm although reached 5K RPM as well in short intervals and just took the bike to max speed of 80km/hr once...

And my journey included Pillion rider as well all the time..
I am just awestruck by the bike performance..LOVED it completely..feels so proud to own this beauty..All the way in the Trip i turned quite a few Heads as well as people came to me enquiring about the bike etc etc...i was so overwhelmed...

Enough of chit-chat..Now i will give the small review as i dont want to go into much details as previously it has been discussed 100 times...It will surely satisfy many customers..

Engine Performance - Excellent
Engine Sound - Good
Braking- Excellent
Bike Stability - Excellent
Seat Comfort (Rider)- Good
Seat Comfort (Pillion)- Ok..My friend complained that seat is quite hard and its not that comfortable
Ride in Wet Conditions - Good (But sometimes you dont get confidence from these Tyres in cornering)
Vibrations - Negligible
Build Quality of Parts- Good
Headlight Illumination - Excellent
Horn- Weak but Ok for city rides
Shockers - Excellent (Didnt felt much jerks throughout the journey)
Handle Position - Good
Ride Posture - Good
Cornering Ability - Excellent
Easily flickable in traffic .... !!!!!!!
Now the Important part..
Mileage - 42-45 Km/L (Just a rough estimate)
Overall Ride Quality - Good...Satisfied with this great product from Bajaj..Kudos to BAJAJ..
Now its time to get my bike to the Service station by this weekend...Just 6 days and my bike is ready to visit the showroom again..

Thanks to every Person in this particular thread for buliding confidence in me to go for this Bike as i have always been ANTI-PULSAR or rather ANTI-BAJAJ...This product satisfies most of my requirements...GO AND GRAB IT GUYS..You will LOVE it !!!!!
short and crisp
