  • Saw a Red NS for the first time. IMO black rules, not because I own one, but , as in my friends words, "pulsar should be black. It brings out the might and appeal so much ". . I also feel that the fondness for other colors might fade. But black rules for ever. Just personal thoughts

    • Tik Tik sound from Handlebars......

Guys from past few days when I ride my NS I notice that there's always a tik tik sound coming from the handlebars whenever I am travelling on roads that are not smooth (not bad roads), its not the kat kat sound from front shocks but a slight tik, what could be the reason...???

Also I am about 2300 on the ODO and the bike is not as smooth as it was earlier and now there are too much vibes ahead of 5k RPM, the next service is due at 4500kms and the bike feels like it needs servicing now only.

      Do share your valuable inputs....

Try jerking the handlebars when in stationery position. I think it must be little loose somewhere, which is making that sound.
If u are sure that the bike needs servicing, u can always go for PAid service in between.
If the engine is not smooth then check out the Quality of Engine Oil

@vinay200 - Hope its a Temporary thing, coz it looks like a Operation theater job.

I have applied it with Araldite so it takes time to dry that's why the tapes are left. Today evening will remove the tapes & upload a complete operation pics by tomorrow.

Why so many tapes criss-cross?? Try the electric insulation tape, black one. That would mend with the mud guard rather than this flashy white tape.

EDIT: Araldite. Hmm. Never mind the black tape..

I first tried with the other tape as the mud flap used to slip towards down side because of the glue then there was no time to go for shops found this one at home & applied.

Thing is, in the morning, its prescribed to run the engine in idle for a minute or so before riding. But my engine switches off and I have to keep revving (not above 4.5k rpm) to keep it in idling. Is what I am doing right? or should I get it checked up? Also, I am using it for my daily office commute which is 25km outside the city so I do a highway riding of 35-40km everyday, and during this time, I cruise at 60-65 kmph, though the rpm remains below 4.5k. Is that fine. I would really appreciate if anyone would reply to this..
                    first.. congrats.. welcome back!
at what RPM is it idling in the morning (first time you start it!).. mine idles at 1k RPM.. after a little spin.. it sits at 1.5k RPM smoothly.. goes till 1.7k RPM max (even after a 35 km ride through traffic!).. I don`t know about the revving it to keep it alive.. is good or bad.. sounds bad to me.. do you use choke to start in the morning??.. speed is fine bro.. I suggest you keep it 65kmph max.. did you check idling RPM during delivery??.. I suggest you get it set a little above 1k RPM.. works for me.. since we reside at the similar locality.. that should work for you!

Hope I didn`t get anything wrong this time!!

I have used normal rubber mudflap and fixed with claps as described by @DNA in this thread. But this p220 mudflap is looking much better. I might switch to this one. BTW how much this one costs?? its rubber thing or fiber??

                      • Guys,

Is the sound (like kzzzzzzzzz) from chain normal? I dint notice it earlier maybe cuz of helmet now after first service one of my fren who was riding beside me on his Pulsar 200 (old) told me about that sound. I feel its normal. but is there any max limit to the volume or something? should i get it checked at the svc?

and Vibrations is a issue, even I am facing it at 5k RPM. Maybe a design flaw in the chassis need to get taht checked as well. also after first service, when the bike comes down to a halt from 50-60, at the last moment I can feel vibrations on the brake lever
not sure what that might be

Hi, Congrats for your RED beast.

Looks like your AFR is adjusted to little leaner value. You can adjust it yourself if you know how to or get it done from SVC. Its just 15sec job. When set correctly the engine idles on its own without opening throttle @1.3k rpm.

Someone has posted a link on run-in period. Try finding it. You will get a detailed knowledge from it. To me, 60-65 cruise is too much before 1st service. I keep it below 50-55 and rpm <4k. And don't maintain constant speed and rpm for too long, keep it varying, run the engine in all gears. Few short bursts (few seconds) to 65-70kmph is advisable, but gradually go up and come down. After 1st service you can start opening throttle a little more. Please find that link and read it. Or simply Google for it.

Best of Luck with your new bike.

Its Rs 23.00 in svc Its a fiber.
Does your rubber mudflap protects the engine side ?

Absolutely, this thing allowed me to do a knee down in 3rd cog at 45kmph!! There has to be some serious chassis rigidness to allow you to do that
Twist your wrist and feel the shift!!

                                My own thoughts - Throttle
