@all - I had almost written off Yellow from my list, but yesterday's visit to showroom brought Yellow back to contention, and by a big way.. My dealer had only Red and yellow, but No blue. So went to another showroom today morning to have a look at the blue, and was not so impressed. So blue being out, called the dealer and told him that I will pay another visit to his Showroom to have a look at Red v/s Yellow, and will decide there itself.
Went to the showroom this evening, and took a Hard look from all angles for 15-20 min, and then gave my decision to the dealer. It surely was one of the toughest Decision I ever had to make!!
Even the dealer jokingly commented that in his dealership experience of 10 years, he has never seen such a Choosy guy

Oh.. I didn't mention the colour I chose.. Did I??
Leaving it for all of you to guess...
(Hint - It is one of the colour that is present on the Flag of East-Bengal Football club)

This is the fav part....you have mentioned very methodically and clearly what exactly one needs to look at before upgrading and buying a performance machine...in terms of their needs and wants...

The negatives are really well pointed...but if you can clarify a little more on the bold ones it will be help full..

and last but not the least....congratulation for the beast...
Thanks for the positive feedback. Regarding the points you highlighted

Looking closely I noticed a couple of the elements of what I think is cost cuttting

What I meant was there are are some bits on the bike which seems out of place/missing in what is mostly a great machine from all aspects. Like the quality of the indicator switch and absence of center stand. I felt that these are small compromises bajaj made as part of cost cutting to ensure that they were able to give a great product at a fantastic price. There may be other such points. Just a couple I linked to cost cutting steps.

Even my splendor had 2 different indicator lights.
Most bikes have independent indicator lights in the console. the 200NS just has one light with both the left and right arrows illuminating irrespective of which indicator is on. I have never seen that in any bike. So seemed out of place on a machine like NS.

i faced exactly the same problem jus 2 days after i bought the bike .. and i thot it might be a big problem .. took it to the svc .. and the problem was that the petrol pipe was getting pressed .. they rectified it ..
may b this is the issue even wid ur bike ..

Guys, got my registration number. Done number plate.

A guy (who has a P150) in number plate work shop, went after seeing my NS. He suddenly sat on the bike without asking me. Guys, you won't know my feeling at that time.... aaaaaaaaargh..... his friends clicked some pictures... the that moron asked the key. I said I'll never give. Then he asked why? I said, its like that, I never give key to anyone. And said its under run-in.... here comes fun part... he asked "run-in??? what in the world is that??"... at that moment I looked into his Pulsar. Then I understand why he asked it..!!

There are lot of morons out there... never give key to them. Only give your key to close friends who know well about bikes and how it works.

I fiddled around for like 3-4 months to find that sweet spot of idling for my Pulsar 150 with all kinds of permutations and combinations. Its a new bike, give it some time to settle down. Don't hurry. Make sure you warm up the engine nicely (warm up is the level lower to getting heated up) before you adjust the idling. It should be mentioned in the manual.
Lucky you I am at 239 kms now. I have to manage until 500 kms i guess How many kms you have ridden? And what are your RPMs at cold start and after a long ride?

I guess no passionate NSian would like his brand new bike to be touched by some tom-dick-harry.

I got a funny thought reading these posts. Having 200NS is like having a GF. It gives you a grin to see people jealous. You feel so good, proud when people see your GF, admire it from a distance. But when someone comes closer or try to touch (GF or NS both..), your blood boils. LOL

Two roads diverged in a wood, and I--
I took the one less traveled by,
And that has made all the difference...

Lol!! Thats quite an apt comparison And the time when you leave the bike in parking anywhere is the time which goes by slowly and your heart beats too fast...

I felt the lack of smoothness after 500 kms and I thought it will be alright after the first service but the smoothness didnt came back. The service guy told me that the oil filter wasnt changed as it was not in stock. In manual, oil filter replacement is marked with a * saying 'if only applicable' What could be the reason for lack of smoothness ? I checked the oil levels and its normal. Will the replacement of oil filter make any difference ?

But was shocked to see when my brother bought the bike (as I was unavailable to take the delivery) that such a Big & Old manufacturer has not provided very basic accessories & little aspects lacking in the bike.

It is a shame to see that huge cost cuttings have done by Bajaj Auto in its flagship bike costing 95k ORP Delhi all over.

I want that my bike, bikes sold till now, which are in transit & in assembly line to be equipped with these basics.

                      1. No Central Stand Provided in the bike. The Company cannot escape by saying that it is available as an extra accessory at a dealership. Pay extra Rs 500 or 600 & buy if you want.

                      2. Single horn provided instead of double horns in all bikes in its lineup & by all bike makers with bikes above 80 k.

                      3. Handle lock only on left & Not on Right Side. Such basic things missing.

                      4. Tyres Provided by bajaj of M/s Eurogrip lack Road Grip & vastly unstable. The Overdrive Show also recommends upgrading the current tyres as while cornering the tyres lack straight line & cornernering grip. The chassis is good but Tyres are lacking.

5 lack of spare parts. The Company should make the parts available just before the Model launch. Now, one has to wait for months to get these parts.

                      6. Small fuel tank of 12 liters fixed on chassis & Plastic over the Top. The Tank should at least 16-17 liters.

Will request your goodself to Publish this as Article , so that other customers are not fooled by the looks & the brand value of this bike. But even after paying almost a lakh of rupees , you get these basics missing.

Firstly, welcome to Xbhp and don't post your contact details in public, specially NOT your RESIDENCE/ ADDRESS. ok? And as for your points, I think I need to reply to them:

                      1. When YZF R15 with a smaller engine (no offence, its a fantastic bike), it did not come with a Centre Stand, and it retailed for a serious Rs. 1.17 Lacs, then where were you buddy? What about Honda CBR 1000RR or BMW S1000RR which retails for Rs. 14 and 18 Lacs respectively, not having a centre stand?

NS means Naked Sports. Sportsbikes abroad don't come with centre-stands. Its upto you, as to how quick you get used to it.

Rs. 500 is somewhat fine for a centre stand. It just takes the price to 95.5k, right? Its still better than some 150cc's costing 1.3 Lacs, isn't it? (no offence)

                      2. Ok, maybe a solid reason, but will have to get the horn's power verified. And not whether its one or two horns.

                      3. So what? Is it that big a thing? You can't twist it left while locking??

                      4. Yes, that's a valid point. No worries. Ride slow right now, and after 25k kms you can change it to MRF Zappers. Is it that big if you will keep your bike even for 2 years minimum?

                      5. Will have to ask owners if this is same all over India, or just Delhi.

                      6. It gives you a range of approx 40 kmpl X 12 litres = 480 kilometres.
Or about 400 kms before reserve.
Is it that bad for city needs? No, I don't think so.

When people are getting a 23 horsepower bike for under Rs. 1 Lacs, then they are not getting fooled. They are the guys who made the wise decision "knowingly".
Can't you see any positive side to things? You're complaining about a bike which:
                      * retails for under a lac even today in 2012,
                      * makes 23 bhp,
                      * and could give 50 kmpl in good conditions,

Which other Indian/ Imported bike meets all the above characteristics? Tell me?

As far as "Basics" are concerned, your definition of basics is confusing. For many of us, "basics" are the engine, frame, seat, lighting, etc. which are very good in NS I believe.

I'm not being an advocate but I don't like it, when people don't appreciate someone's efforts for flimsy reasons.

Even my splendor had 2 different indicator lights.
Most bikes have independent indicator lights in the console. the 200NS just has one light with both the left and right arrows illuminating irrespective of which indicator is on. I have never seen that in any bike. So seemed out of place on a machine like NS.
Umm, no offense meant but I seriously know where I am turning, right? If I flick my bike to left and use my indicator then I know I am going left and vice versa with right. If Bajaj would have given a single indicator then I would have worried because it may cause a confusion to other rider/driver on the road. I don't want my bike to tell me that I am going left or right. Its not cost cutting, its quite logical for me.

@Sagar : I own a P150 mate, but if you did mean to get info about it, then I have just managed to clock a meager 7140 kms in 1 year 2 months of ownership. My Pulsar has taught me a lot. I can see myself maturing and learning each day. The more time you spend with your bike, the more you will know it. I get up at 3:30 in the morning just to ride it for some time.

In my P150, cold start idling hovers around 900 RPM when I start and settles well at 1K when warm. After hot riding it rises to 1.2-1.3K. This is the best I was able to set her up. She sounds nice and behaves well.

The world ain't all sunshine and rainbows. It is a very mean and nasty place. It will beat you to your knees and keep you there permanently if you let it.
