What you are talking about happens in Hydraulic Pre-load adjustment, where OIL is used set pre loads isntead of the manual collar.

Just consider the suspension, as a single unit again. When both the ends of suspension are at a fixed maximum position (by default the springs will take the maximum space), how can you increase the length of the suspension again!

I could be wrong, but I will check it again. I will try do it on twin setup shocks for easy understanding.
But actually the suspension setup, doesn't make a difference to the saddle height after all!
we both are right....yes what you are telling is totally right.....that when we compress the spring the total length of the spring decreases and hence lesser height...right...
But you are forgething that the chasis is not resting on the spring...its resting on the lobes, which again is resting on the springs.... Whem you are compessing the spring, a longer lobe is selected..that longer lobe is longer than the amount of distance displaced by the spring when compressed, hence the height increase... If the size of the lobes were equal to the spring compression, then the height wont increase... But here, the size is longer... just check it on any bike...all works the same...may it be hydraulic or gas damped... Here it is gas damped... Try it on any bike... since i access from phone, i am unable to put diagrams and mark them what you are saying is absolutely true but its only a part of the story...
@vineet: hehe... Really... Its very confusing... need a bajaj engineer... But its good to argue in a healthy manner until the truth is out...hehe...

happening with my bike too ..! Is that a serious issue ? I want a word from experienced riders
And what happens if u set the AFR screw to a richer setting ?
And nariet, do u by any chance have installed the remote ignition system ?

Tinkering with the AFR screw without knowing anything about it is not recommended. You will also need to learn how to read the spark plugs.

Also the screw is very delicate, if you do intend tinkering with it do it with gentle fingers.

Till now no "Khat Khat" for me... only smooth clicks, because I'm engaging the gears more precisely now with this technique . One get's "Khat" sound only when the gear didn't get engaged properly in the first clutch play and just sliped into position with the rider introducing a bit more play into the clutch. That shouldn't be the case.

Also, some owners reported in some of the few initial pages that their gear lever were not adjusted properly, which was adjusted later at the SVC. So, that might also add to the "Khat" sound.

I guess I've been lucky with the "Khat" till now !! But seriously people, you won't get the "Khat" sound with this technique if things are done correctly.
Twist your wrist and feel the shift!!

                My own thoughts - Throttle

i asked Rohan200 about the increase in height & this was his reply,"i got a feeling that it did increase slightly...
the suspension setting (he changed the setting to harder , not hardest) is not to an extent where u can make out huge diff in height.."

Like Rahul posted a couple of pages ago. Turn right = Rich. Turn Left = Lean. Simple, innit?

                    • Idling

Guys! My IDLE RPM has been going up consistently since last few days. I have done 400 kms till now and most of my riding is in the dirty Bangalore traffic.
At a stretch i have to drive atleast 20kms at a time.

The RPM while starting the bike in the morning remains at 1.5k but after some riding, it keeps going up and as of now it is almost touching 3k mark on idle!!

The radiator fan runs regularly and hot air hits my legs... i switch off the bike wherever i am at the traffic light as it keeps revving at 3k when on neuteral...

Have to take it to the service center... any advices???

Increase in idle rpm as engine gets warmed up is alright. The typical numbers are: 1300 for cold start and 1800 after engine is fully warmed up.

May be your AFR is set to on richer side. 3k is too high i think. Go to svc and get it reset, its matter of 2 mins. Or you can do it yourself if you know how to.

I took the one less traveled by,
And that has made all the difference...

me too asked him in fb and he said it increased. Even on my earlier bike it increased... All my friends have the setting at hardest and there is an increase... and its very much noticeable...

Now consider a scenario where i had to apply a sudden break when i am in 5th gear. So i applied and changed the gear to 4th. now bike is in 0 speed. i want to go forward then i need to apply clutch and change the gear to 3rd , leave half clutch(till that Khat sound comes) then again pull the clutch and change to 2nd, leave half clutch(till again i hear a Khat sound) then pull the clutch fully change to 1st gear n go...

and even in high speed and u wanna downshift the gear we have to do this way right?
                            Anyone kindly describe on this....

                            • 300 KM Review

My NS is nearing 300KM on the odo

Engine and gearshifts are getting harsher.

Never Exceeded 4.5K RPM EXCEPT once where i raced a 220 (and won, no competition, NS just trumps it)

Im getting cold start issues, engine idles at 1000 rpm on cold start and cuts off unless choked for a while and heated up, once heated idle is at 1500 rpm

how do i solve the cold start issue?

And the bike is amazingly stable!! no need to put your feet to the ground unless at a dead halt so balanced!

Welcome to the club bro. I hope after 1st service it will become smooth as it was on day one.
