I know warranty doesn't get void on switching to any brand other than the recommended brand of oil by the manufacture provided its the same grade (xWyy). So will changing the x part make the warranty void??
Is is like that?? I thought switching to any oil other than DTSi-10000 would void warranty. About the 'x' part, a valid point, I think this one is more crucial than which brand's oil is used. But if Bajaj doesn't know what grade we filled then is there a way they can prove we have filled wrong grade??Two roads diverged in a wood, and I--

Abt the "x" part, we have varied cilmate allover India, and thus if the X part is suitable for one part of the country say down south, it wont be suitable far places up north like Kashmir. So I think that it must be varied depending on the particular climate of that region.
and Ya, It like impossible to detect the grade of the oil from naked eye. But I guess with some scientific test, it can be detected.sigpicRelationships change, evolve, and it goes deep.

FS oil on second service....???
Guys I am nearing 3000kms on my NS, I am thinking of going for second service in between 3800-4000kms. Will it be advisable to pour fully synthetic oil then, I was thinking of Motul 300V 15W50. What should be the drain interval for motul 300v. I have read in other forums that it holds well for about 7500kms and one guy even drained it after 9800kms and said it still had life in it...

I had checked the service chart already. I just checked in manual as well. On the service slip it is said and I quote "Warranty is null or void if Bajaj genuine oil and mandatory periodic parts are not replaced" While on pg 24 there is no clear indication regarding this.Originally posted by Shibadip View PostYes nilesh, we can change to different brand of oil. no issues with that.

I think there is ambiguity in the statements made in the manual.
Also what you have said is very correct regarding the "x" part of the grade. But BAL may say that one can use choke to cold start and let the engine warm up and then only drive and so on.
I think we should shoot mails to BAL for clarification. That would be the best thing to do.Two roads diverged in a wood, and I--

Ok thanks Shibadip. I just saw the last page of the PDF file. So engine oil can be changed to other brands but the grade is not mentioned in it and i don't have the users manual here with me (in office). So what grade of oil should be used 15W50 or 20W50.Originally posted by Shibadip View PostYes nilesh, we can change to different brand of oil. no issues with that.

Exactly what I was thinking. Since I have still not got my Bike, so I still dont have those service slips.Originally posted by nilesh14587 View PostI think we should shoot mails to BAL for clarification. That would be the best thing to do.
It would be better if u scan those and attach it to the mail to bajaj, asking for complete clarification.
Also try to gather some other owners from here, who have such doubt (Govind.one and others) so that u can give their details as well in ur mail, and it will carry more weight
@Sunilyo - I think the suggested grade is 20W50 by bajaj for the NSLast edited by Shibadip; 08-28-2012, 01:49 PM.sigpicRelationships change, evolve, and it goes deep.

I have sent a mail regarding engine oil confusion. Both brand and the grade. Also asked them to get explanation from some engineer in BAL and don't send a lame reply "Please visit nearest SVC"Originally posted by Shibadip View PostExactly what I was thinking. @Sunilyo - I think the suggested grade is 20W50 by bajaj for the NS
As I have already sent mail, can't include anybody now. But I urge all owners to send a mail to BAL regarding this engine oil issue. A flood of mails surely will be noticed
And yes its 20W50 for NS.Two roads diverged in a wood, and I--

drain interval for 300v is 4.5 to 5k kms... Anything more than that the oil internally becomes bad though externally it looks good...it could lead to chemical reaction inside the engine and damaging of internal parts...Originally posted by Speedshift View PostGuys I am nearing 3000kms on my NS, I am thinking of going for second service in between 3800-4000kms. @all: changing oil does not void warranty as long as the svc is unaware of it... Change to any oil you like and dont tel the svc...no one can make out what oil it is, other than 300v which is green and is kind of perfumed...
in case of first service, just tell the svc guy that you have changed the oil few days ago and wont change the oil now...and if they asks which oil, tell its bajaj dtsi... Svc create trouble only in 1st servicing.... I service my bro's pulsar from my local svc and they dont mind what oil is used...they know he uses 300v... No warranty issus so far... And changing to 15w50 from 20w50 will void warranty..again if svc comes to know... Its better to use 15w50 than 20w50... Even better if you can find 10w50... Lower the front number better it will start when engine is cold...
@govind: yes bro
motul 3000 is a superb mineral oil... I have even heard ninja owners going for the oil and vouch for the quality at such a low price... Its cheaper than bajaj dtsi i guess...

Nevertheless, for fully synthetic oil, one can go for Motul 7100 as well. Almost as good as the 300V at a much lower cost.Been There, Done That; Better!

when the engine heats up there is an awesum smell which comes from the engine...
well jokes apart..., yes 7100 is also a superb oil..as good as 300v at almost 250 rupees less... Its the full synthetic version of 5100...with single ester

Welding is done to join to broken parts, whereas in your case handle is intact but lost its alignment, what they might mean is that they will heat it up, and look to realign your handle approximately, that's not a bad idea if you are looking to save some money, minor issue.. everything will be fine.. I will try to gather information on the availability of headlight assembly separately and will intimate you at night.
