do read the contents of the link which will give you some idea about CV carb tuning.
There was tappet sound (it was not that serious that time) before the servicing so i asked them to look into it. Guess the mechanics who did servicing (dunno who was that jerk) overdid it and screwed up the tappet/camshaft settings and that caused a lot of tappet noise and vibrations on tank. I don't really no whether he opened the head that time or not.

Next time when i went to get this mess cleared up, the mechanic straightaway opened the cylinder head, he was specially trained for NS and he said Bajaj has told then to look into tappet settings and cam shaft for tappet noise and vib issues. Guess he knew what he was doing and eventually they did remove the issue, so its OK i think. I hated that sewing machine sound like anything. Happy to get reed of it.

I have bookmarked the link you have given, will read it at leisure. Thanx for it.

    • Hi All,

This is my first post in this forum.
I have been reading through the experiences of different P200NS owners regarding PROs and CONs about the bike.
I have observed quite a few problems with my P200NS would like to know if others too have faced the similar issues:
      1. Rubbing noise from Rear disc - I have took my bike to service center at least 4-5 times and got changed the rear disc and caliper to a new Bybre one but still I hear these noises during low speeds. Had sent 3 mails to bajaj folks to attend this issue.
      2. Oil indicator blinking - This occurs every time when I go past 50kmph speed, even this part was changed recently.
      3. Fuel indicator not reliable at all, you never know when it shows empty and reserve indicator starts blinking.
      4. Engine getting heated up very soon - I didnt observe this after my first service.
      5. Gear box - I didnt find the the gear shifting to be smooth at all, I could clearly hear the noise of gear lever no matter how ever smoothly I try to change it (keeping the rpm in mind); False neutral during downshift.
      6. Vibration - A known problem to all owners now.

      regards,
      Dileep

Its a common problem happened with most of the bikes , no need to get the disc replaced , you just have to clean them with water, the noise is supposedly created by mud.

        2. Oil indicator blinking - This occurs every time when I go past 50kmph speed, even this part was changed recently.

Bajaj has found a solution to this problem. Take your bike to the nearest service and get one small gold color sensor changed.
[EDIT] As you have mentioned you got it changed recently Send a mail to bajaj regarding this.

        3. Fuel indicator not reliable at all, you never know when it shows empty and reserve indicator starts blinking.

Digital Fuel indicators have a mind of their own. With time you will start understanding it better.

        4. Engine getting heated up very soon - I didnt observe this after my first service.

Check for coolant leakages and level , if its between min and max level its fine.
This issue can also be caused by improper carb tuning. (discussed in detail few pages back)

        5. Gear box - I didnt find the the gear shifting to be smooth at all, I could clearly hear the noise of gear lever no matter how ever smoothly I try to change it (keeping the rpm in mind); False neutral during downshift.

How many kms on ODO ?? Gear shifts become smoother gradually. Nothing to worry.

        6. Vibration - A known problem to all owners now.

Many have felt that vibrations have gone down after proper tuning and pouring in better engine oil.

        regards,
        Dileep

By the way which SVC you visit generally in Bangalore, as rear disc noise issue is very common and the first thing they advice is to clean them up.

        • This is my observation regarding the working of the digital fuel indicator. I have verified the observations 2-3 times on my own bike only.

We have the total tank capacity is 12liter and reserve capacity as 2.4liters in NS. There are 8 bars in the indicator.

          1. for tank full obviously fuel gauge shows all 8 bars. Till the bike gallops about 4 liter of petrol the gauge keep showing all 8 bars (i.e. tank full). As soon as 4 liters are over, one bar drops.
          2. When bike goes to reserve there is no bar in the gauge, i.e it shows empty tank. The yellow low fuel indicator starts flashing when there is about 3 liters of fuel in the tank. So lowest level for the fuel indicator is when bike goes to reserve.
          3. So now the range for full 7 bars become 8 - 2.4 = 5.6 liters. (At 8 liters there are 7 bars and at 2.4 there is none)
          4. This gives us the equation assuming linear scale: 1 bar = 0.8 liters. So 7 bars = 0.8 * 7 = 5.6 liters.
          5. But the scale is not linear. That is the 7th bar will go down after 1 liter of fuel is used, but next bar will go down after less than 1 liter petrol and this gap goes on decreasing. So when the bike nears reserve, the bars disappear quickly.

It could be waste of time doing this due to not-so-reliable working of the fuel gauge. But anyone who wants to improve this is welcome to do so. I am doing it for fun. No serious reason behind this.

I visit Kalyani Bajaj, Mekhri circle. 850 kms on ODO and first servicing done
I don't think Rear disc noise is an issue with lack of cleaning because the noise is there from the day I purchased, initially I thought dust might be the reason. Later the service mngr said its the issue with calipers (closed/open type..something like that.. not sure about the technicalities), he checked the wheel and axle alignments but no issues anywhere.

            • Height of Comment came from a Cop on my new P200NS -
              COP - Papers pls
Me - Ya, here are these
COP - This must be a Modified bike. where's the silencer?? where's the Pollution Certificate???
Me - Sir, this a newly launched variant of Pulsar. It has a under belly silencer. here it is (i pointed him out)
COP - U must have cut short the Silencer. You must be fined.
Me- Utterly confused, and then tried to make him understand the features - LC engine, perimeter frame, six gears etc etc to make him convince it;s a newly launched bike.

then the COP took a hard look of my bike,(still having some apprehension) and said maintain speed limit, in a very elderly tone.
And then when i was going to start the bike, the most common Question came from him - "What's the mileage??"

I had a big smile, and replied "It gives about 65-70kmpl". Should have seen his look. I was smiling all evening that day.

PS - This incident happened a few days earlier, But forgot to post it here..

              • The bike is coming handy .... And able to balance well in the slow moving traffic completed around 200km in odo... planning to take a short ride of 250km to complete the run in period... Some minor glitches facing as of now ... False neutral shift and the engine sounds rough at some times

                      • Completed 1000 kms on my Bumblebee
                        Max Speed touched: 70 Kmph
Steady speed: Between 48 kms to 60 kms.
RPM: Gear changes between 3.5 to 4.0 K rpms.
                        Mileage: 37K

                        The Good:
                        • Bike has become smoother post first service
                        • Installed paddock stand (peace of mind) @ 700 bucks
                        • Gear slotting is fine (with the odd slip...nothing major)

                        The Bad:
                        • While servicing the SVC guys have damaged the front mudguard sticker
                        • Immediately after the first service there were lot of false neutrals...but that got sorted out on its own :P
                        • Choke lever feels loose...no spring action
                        • Rubber strap under the rear seat for strapping tool kit is missing
                        • Rear brake still a little squeaky
Two legs and Two wheels. Add two more and they become crutches and cars.

Do you mean a Spanner Symbol?
If yes, then its the Service Due indicator telling you to get the bike serviced. Nothing to worry
If no, refer to the Owners Manual

                          • Hi Dileep,
                            My comments in BOLD.

The gear shifts do have a pronounced click. This bike actually likes the quick shifting style so try to upshift at about 3.5 to 4 k rpms, it should shift without much noiise. As far as false neutrals go, it appears to be more with the gear shifter mechanism/lever not adjusted properly rather than the gearbox slipping. When downshifting 'blip' the throttle a little bit.

                            6. Vibration - A known problem to all owners now.
but you can dismiss them as 'Sporty Vibes' ala TVS Apache . the vibes should lessen after the engine settles in. Normally, vibes subside after 4K rpm on the tacho.

                            Ride Safe!
Two legs and Two wheels. Add two more and they become crutches and cars.
