The svc here at mysore recommended motul. The supervisor himself told me the dtsi oil is crap when i went for my 1st service. But I told him it's alright for 1k or 2k more kilometers after which I'll switch over to Motul semi-synthetic or castrol.
Btw, I've noticed a subtle change in the engine's sound. I assume the bike's completed run-in. Can I switch to motul fully synthetic just as yet? My vehicle's completed 1000 kilometers exactly.
Sarcasm is my automatic response to stupidity.

Sounds too early, wait for at least 5-6k kms before going Fully Synth.

      • I am going to get rid of that hideous buzzing sound from the console tomorrow. wish me luck.

And today, I have noticed that my afr tuning is a little bit to the leaner side, going to look in to that as well.

After 2900km, i cannot resist my self from appreciating the quality of the chain.

I wore my old gloves yesterday in traffic and the clutch did not hurt much as before. will be getting my new gloves tomorrow.

        • Like it or not... Road racing is there and will be there... We, understand the perils of it, but some other riders take it as a thrilling activity to get rid of the monotony of life (which might someday end their or someone else's life).
I DO NOT ROAD RACE. I make up my route plan and decide the time when I should reach certain waypoints. In this approach, i sometimes calculate my avg speed to be 60 kmph and sometimes 30 kmph. Now no matter what speeds the other person (biker/cager) is doing on the road I stick to my decided speed, be it lower/higher than others on the road.
A sincere request to all, you might be a very very good rider, you might have very good control on your bike, but you constitute just 10% of what can cause a fatal accident, there are other bikers/cagers who might not have such good control, pedestrians who think that the road belongs to them, animals, potholes, etc etc.

Think before you twist your right wrist
and RESPECT others on the road.

And most Importantly we all know how fast the bike can go and how well it handles, so if you want to post about YOUR racing skill please create a new thread and post it there. Who know it might be useful too.

I used Mobil and not Motul. Anyways, he said warranty might get void. I'm ok with it

I sent a mail to Bajaj CC to inquire regarding this oil issue, they only reverted back to say the query sent to bajaj technical team. I once again sent a reminder that why its taking a month to tell why only DTSi oil is to be used and other oil would void warranted and as Bajaj asking us to do this then they must have done a lot of analysis as to why this particular oil only is suppose to be good for NS engine, but no reply so far. Its been a month and I am let down by Bajaj CC 3rd time now. This is my 3rd query which is un-answered...

I would say just used whichever oil you want and dont let Bajaj people know of it..

              +1 for this..

I ride in traffic with a thought in my, "Death is a second away if I falter" It helps in keeping check on speed.. I do speed up til 70s-80s on stretches where its risk free. But high-speed riding especially crisscrossing in traffic is a big NO-NO.

The other day I was entering on one of these stretches (a flyover) where 80kmph is possible. As I was entering And was already in the innermost lane a speeded up to some 60s. Suddenly a stupid auto-wala entered the lane from left without any indicator/hand-signal etc. He literally pushed me against the divider and it was so quick i neither could reach the horn nor the front break lever and just applied rear break (not too hard just to reduce speed a little to let the auto go) in order not to get sandwiched between divider and that auto. The rear tire lost traction even with that not-so-hard breaking and the bike fish-tailed. The bike swayed left and right and left and right and so on for 5-6 times. For a split second I thought I am a goner now, I was almost thrown-away from the bike, half unsettled from the seat. But some how, I managed to make the bike straight and get control. I dunno whether to curse Bajaj for useless tires or thank them for amazing balance of NS. I shook my head and thanked god and zoomed past that moron auto-driver. Sometimes, you just be a victim of someone else's stupidity.

I am telling this just to make a point that one might get carried away at the spur of a moment and might as well get away with it, but someone other might have to pay for your stupidity.

And I think a what Rahul suggested, a separate thread for NSians who wanna discuss the ability of the bike in road races should be a place for such discussions, not here.

A few days before, two guys on a pulsar150 were following me for a long time. I was about to turn left, and switched on the indicator, suddenly those idiots overtook me from left, I was shocked for a moment and then got angry, followed those guys who were riding like they were taunting me, to their misfortune, the signal went red, and when they tried to jump the signal, the almost hit the traffic police jeep. Their got fined and their bike impounded since they had no papers on them and no money either.

Police give no respect to bikers with premium bikes because they think all of them are hooligans or some irresponsible college students(before someone takes that other wise It does not mean all college students are irresponsible). Many a times I was asked, by the police, questions in a tone which would hurt my ego, and after the inspection of my records, was commended for my full preparedness on the road. I wish days will come when most of the riders understand the meaning of SAFE RIDING.

                  • hello friends,
i am a new member . i got to know about this from my friend. this thread was very useful as i got info about the place where i got my rear tyre changed.
i got my "black mamba" last month...and i have already done nearly 1500kms...my bro has cbr 250r...it has a racing stance which is good for racing ..but as i m 6'2 so i use to have little bit backache riding through this heavy bangalore traffic...so i decided to buy a bike which would suit me. so R15 was ruled out. pulsar 200NS gave me everything i was looking for in a bike.
LOOKS they are jaw dropping.FRONT is just a killer!!!!though back is a party spoiler..bike is like an eyecandy on the road.when i stop at any signal it is a head turner. people just stare at it and most of them search for the exhaust..lol
RIDE is so refine . feel like riding a honda bike..gear shiftS are smooth...
HANDLING gives a good fight to R15. i will give 8.5 to this compared to 9 to R15
MILEAGE even though i never did more than 5k rpm and kept the speed limit under 60 i am still getting only 36-37which is very less compared to others who are getting around 45!!!!! any advice would be appreciated
i read that the stock tyres are not upto the mark so i exchanged the rear tyre to PIRELLI SPORT DEMON 130/70R17...
It has surely made my mamba sexier from back.
i have two questions to ask:
                    1) i feel vibrations while accelerating around the fuel tank if i hug it with my legs. i feel they are too much.
                    2) mileage only 36-37

Black Mamba...I like the name...I hope it won't bite someone...he he...

Regarding the tank vibs, I too have it and seems you can't get away with it completely. But do see if re-tightening of tank pads help or not. Basically the vibs coming from engine and it looks like Bajaj hasn't done a great job in segregating tank from the engine to isolate vibrations. Mounting it on good rubber pads and all main bolts with rubber washers would have helped a great deal I think. Better engine oil could help by reducing engine vibs and good quality petrol (personal experience, Shell knocks a lot less that HP/BP petrol, so engine is smoother with it..). Which one you are using currently??

Mileage..well its a million dollar questions. Main things to check: Carburetor settings and your riding style..(like too much accelerating and braking can reduce FE even if you don't cross 50-60kmph..just an example..)
Two roads diverged in a wood, and I--

DTSi is crap oil (no question about it)...my personal exp says Motul mineral is better (and cheaper too) than DTSi on any day (dunno about mobil/castrol)...it did makee my bikes' engine smoother. And see if Shell premium makes any change..it does from my experience..no harm in experimenting a little. If nothing helps go to SVC and ask them to rectify it.

If you are riding sanely and all, the next main parameter remains is the carburetor setting. Sadly I have no experience in this so far. Other seniors should be able to help. Actually a lot has been already in this thread..browsing into past pages should give you a good idea.

but i guess syn oil should be used after 5000kms...next time i will get premium..(8-10 rs costlier)
