aditya Bharadwaj. Thanks a lot for the help man. Took the bike to the probiking svc today. As expected the ignition switch had some loose connections which were rectified. The tappets were adjusted as well and the noise has come down quite a bit. It is still there but only audible at lower RPM's. Can the tappets be adjusted further to make them completely noise free?

Nope. No more adjustments can be done. The noises can not be eliminated. Even if you do, it'll come back in a hundred kms. You gotta live with it. Make the valve clearances too tight and your engine wont rev freely. It'll sluggishly build rpms.

Remember, a noisy valve is a happy valve.

Just get the clearances adjusted every 15k kms.

Ok thats cool. I'm happy with it now anyways. There was a noticeable change in the way the bike revs after the adjustment. Its feels smoother and the acceleration is also better. Thanks man.

will the changing of rear tyre help in reducing the ride height??
and also please give some reviews for the new dual color 200ns..
thanks
At 5'6 you really shouldn't face much trouble. Altering the seat might give you a maximum of few millimetres. You can adjust shock absorber setting to lower it a little. Different tyre wont help you. The rear tyre size is 130/70 (hear 70 matters) . Dont let both your legs down at the same time, just let the left leg down while keeping the right one on the foot peg. If you lean a little you'll be able to firmly place your entire foot on the ground. You just need to get adjusted to riding it. Ive seen guys a lot shorter that 5'6 riding bikes comfortably. So 5'6 shouldn't be a problem at all. Wear thicker boots while riding if you dont feel confident.
In my opinion the new dual color graphics look awesome.

However, i sense that it is taking a hit in between 5k-6k rpm in 6th gears and the engine feels strained above 5k rpms.
Please advice if reverting back to the default setting of the carb will help in achieving better top end.
Also, i have still not checked the mileage after the carb setting.
Post this card seting i used to get 42-45 kmpl in city in mixed conditions.
do you know, what was the default setting on your bike?

-->>

ever since my mechanic messed up the afr setting, i was not satisfied, coz mileage was reduced drastically although with a feel of better pick-up.

the reason my mechanic changed it was coz i told him that i am experiencing a flat spot from 6.5K to 7.0K RPM and the bike is not going beyond 127/128 kmph.

the problem is compounded by the fact that when i asked him -"what was the factory setting", he told 4 turns, a few days later when i discussed in detail, he told 3.5 turns. so i know he is not sure.

he tuned it at 5 turns which resulted in super silent and smooth engine, reduced vibes, feel of better pick-up and drastic reduction in mileage.

so when i tuned it again last week, i kept it at 4 turns, now mileage has increased little bit but its still not as good as stock. what i did was, i measured and noted the CO level from 1.0 turn to 5.0 turns at every 0.5 turn intervals, surprisingly it started showing 0.9 from 3.5 turns to 4.5 turns and fluctuating between 0.8/0.9/1.0 on every setting between 3.5 to 4.5. i had earlier done a PUC check up so knew my factory setting resulted in 0.9 CO level. so left it at 4 turns.

so i wrote an e-mail to bajaj customer care asking various things about afr setting, initially they replied saying that "plz visit the nearest service station", even called me to say the same thing, i tried explaining that i want to know the setting and not visit service center, even followed up with e-mails. finally after repeated e-mails, today i got a call from the area manager. he told me--

(1) the ideal factory recomended setting is between 1.5 to 2.5 CO level.

(2) the exhaust gas analyzer machine's nozzle should not be put into exhaust end outlet, because the catalytic converter reduces the harmful gas emission, so the PUC machine nozzle has to be inserted before cat-con, and company has provided a bolt specifically for this purpose in exhaust before cat-con, which can be opened with a 10 no. spanner. open the bolt and insert the nozzle of gas analyzer there, and then take readings.

(3) the ideal factory recomended setting of CO level 1.5 - 2.5 normally occurs between 2.0 to 2.5, however this should not be formed as a basis of tunning and the afr screw should be set wherever you get the factory recomended CO level.

(4) lastly, it is neither air screw, not fuel screw, not AFR screw, for the carb of P200NS, it is called VCS i.e. Volume Control Screw.

good technical info coming directly from the bajaj company.

huh, so i will have to do it all over again.

my service center has a 2 channel exhaust gas analyzer, which measures only CO and HC, while some service centers have modern 4 channel analyzers.

the ideal carb tuning curve/graph of a 4 stroke engine is like this (courtesy PSR ji) -->

try michelin or mrf tyre for r15v2, although tyre choice depends on personal riding style.

I see ! I forgot to add that the time my CO mechanic was tuning my bike 2 days back, he was checking CO readings as well as using a small device and placing it near the engine, which displayed some numbers on it. It appeared that he was checking the sound coming from the engine and tuning it as recommended by company. Stupid me, didn't inquire about it in detail from him.

As far as the discussion is regarding afr and carb, i would like to share my experience.

I have tinkered a lot with the carb's afr settings after getting a k&n. In my opinion, after warming up the engine(take the bike for a spin for atleast 15 mins) , one should increase the ideal rpm to 3k and at that rpm try turning the afr screw clockwise till you feel a serious drop in rpm(engine still running though) then start going anti clockwise, about 1/2 or 1/4 rounds at a time. With every turn you'll feel the rpm increasing. But There will come a point where the engine rpm becomes constant and doesn't increase. THAT IS THE RIGHT AFR SETTING. What you can also try is keep turning afr anti clockwise for a couple of 1/4 turns and you ll feel the rpm decreasing again, due to the mixture turning too rich.

Out of the 2-3 methods i tried for tuning afr, This way i was able to get the best responsiveness from the engine.

can wheel lock be installed in 200ns? i am asking this because i see the front mud guard going all the way down, so there is no space for wheel lock. if anybody has installed then please show me the photo.

do post some photos. I've been planning to buy rim tapes & sticker stuff from Karol bagh for my own NS, but the traffic conditions scare me off. It's so crowded there !

Guys need some clarification on Engine Oil, Was previously on Motul 7100 and Had 600ml Left from the last service done at 10K on the ODO, today went to the Probiking SVC at Begumpet, Hyderabad for my 1st paid service at 16 K on the ODO and they said due to non availability they are not stocking 7100 and Have 300 V which is readily available, Rs 1000 per Liter, my question is can we mix the the 1L 300 V with 400 ML of 7100 or better to go with 300 V. I am unable to find any dealers for Hyderabad stocking Motul Engine oil, Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Moreover they are charging RS 250 for the Oil Filter and 300 for the rear disk Pads. I am unsure if these are correct prices and the estimation given for my bike SVC is around 3000 ( Incl RS 2000 for the Motul 300V).

Please give your valuable suggestion
