    Hey guys.
I'm about get the first service done.
ODO reading is 560km, would you people suggest I stick around and watch over the service being done or is it safe to just let them take over? (I ask this because I've only heard bad things about Bajaj service centers. This is my first Bajaj bike so not sure what to expect.)
Also how much would the first service set me back?
Problems I face currently = Downshift issues(it sometimes doesn't shift from 4'th to 3'rd, and I've to go to 5th and come down from there), some minor sounds here and there.

Is it possible to have duke 390's white hand guards on our NS. Will it look ugly?

Yes you can watch if they allow, ,I always watch my bike getting serviced
Shifting issues are due to engine oil, If you can Change to Motul 5100 15w50 . If they don't allow, NEVER EVER LET THEM USE BAJAJ ENGINE OIL FROM BARRELS,always insist upon a sealed bottle.
        First service expenses
        Engine oil bajaj- 473 ₹ for 1.2L
74 ₹ for engine oil filter
        THATS ALL .
if they try to do any other work or charge you for any other work, Resist, Rebel and fight till the end

I am not categorizing my opinions as pros and cons. Also I don't own a 200NS, but my friend does. The bike completed 2500kms and after 1000kms of riding together(450kms one trip and 600kms another trip)

                what I like

                acceleration, speed, riding position, headlight.

                What I dislike

->The sound from exhaust - It neither feels like a scooter, nor like a bike.
->Worst aerodynamics - All the air is concentrated to your face. When I rode at night all insects were planted on my face and neck and shoulders
only, it feels like your face is a vaccuum cleaner that sucks all the dust around.
->Very bad pillion comfort - because of the aerodynamics and the seat. The foot rests are placed higher and you will feel discomfort after riding
continuously for an hour as pillion.
->Faulty speedometer - Speedo - 60 GPS - 55 Tested on phone gps. Is phone GPS accurate?
                - 80 - 74
                - 90 - 83
                - 115 - 105
->Tuning - A little mistune at the carb and the bike behaves very bad.
->Handling - harder to handle at low speeds, handling starts to get better after 40kmph.
->Flat spots at certain RPMS (3200~3500) in this case. (77kmph~85kmph bad tuning)
These are my observations with my friends bike. I hope some of these can be rectified in a proper service.

200ns is a good bike like it has good pick up,good speed u have to look at the speedo to know that how fast r u going..u are not felling push as u feel in the pulsar 220.most important thing that i habe come across that the engine never shows any stress...and the sound od the bike is unique it is totally different if u ride it normal this sounds like a tempo or u hardly notice the sound.but when u pull the throttle the sound changes into a racing oriented bike.it redlines very fast means very fast in the first 3 gears.
U can ride it at 100kmph without putting any stess on the engine....
It is very compact in size...
                  In simpke words....what i have observed ,.......
If u want a bike that give u mileage, looks, power and under 100000 rupees than this is the bike for u .it gives u 48kmpl if u maintain speed under 50kmph.it gives u 37-38kmpl under speed 80-85 kmph with pillion on the highway.it gives me shoulder pain,if u want some bigger bike than take a look pulsar 400.

                          Hi All,

Just like so many other proud owners of Pulsar 200 NS,even I am one....Here's my experience with it so far. Its scaringly fast (if u now don't compare it with Dukes & Ninja-s & CBR-s as they have DOHC Engines). I got mine NS (Yellow black) on May 1st 2013... Pretty new ..ha ? Its no doubt a head turner even now, especially for the non-pulsar owners & old pulsar model owners, when I ride,or stand in a traffic. Questions still flow in & makes me feel proud again n again & yes I love to answer all those questions.

Few things I didn't like in the NS though, and they are ~

The exhaust note (from the default under belly one)...Its too quiet....some stubby note would've been a lot better.
The Horn sound....that typical "peeeep" sound .......at least a dual horn like the older pulsars should have been given as default.

Now I did some modifications on my Bumble Bee (that's what I call her fondly)...

An after market silencer from good old Karolbagh,New Delhi,India. The first one was a cheapo one...the now installed is a Akrapovic copy. You might think why Karolbagh ? are these exhausts good for the engine or not. Well, here's an user's (mine) real time verdict. I faced no issues with none of the after market exhausts. Now I actually emailed all the leading exhaust brands (namely Yoshimura,Two Brothers, Tech Hardy to name a few)..bt they all had the same answer....a "NO" for "NS"....Pretty disappointed with that,is when I went on for a hunt in KB.

Regarding the "horn" factor...got the default one removed & got a "ROOTS" Dual Channel Horn installed. Sounds awesome !! like an Audi horn :-) Loud n distinct.

I am attaching a few pics from the begining till date. Hope you guys like it. & yes if anyone can suggest me some effective performance & visual modifications, please do. Click image for larger version

Although the note of ns below 6krpm to be precise, is nothing, even a old pulsar 150 stock sounds more masculine than mighty Ns.
                              BUT
rev up to 8krpm and Now We're Talking
The e bike sound turns into a blunt ferocious Roar. .!!
WhenevEr I start from a redlight, shift at 9k rpm from standstill , people look like what the folk. ..? And it ain't like those torn apart exhausts of cheap 100cc commuters, it makes people go crazy, even it isn't a proper exhaust note
I would love to have a Music exhaust installed, but then again, I loveit more when people scratch their heads to see iska exhaust saala hai kaha pe..?(where the hell Is exhaust. ?)
Rest, In my opinion, if you're not after a poser bike, rather a bomb for money, a performance machine that feels like a Honda shine till 5k rpm (very good for those calm rides ) and a mini rocket after 8krpm ( to feed those racing urges) Man, you're at right place. !!
At 1L₹ ( got mine for 94k only) ,there is nothing better, even if you check all parameters, you won't find the extra 1,5bhp of duke worth another whopping 50k. Instaed add 50k more, get a duke 390.
R15 is refined, has better gearing than ns But looks don't do everywhere, .. when you need power, the speed, r15 is very painful, ask any r15 owner, he or even Yamaha haven't mentioned the 0-100 time. But Ns does it in 9sec. I did 0-100 today and believe me, it feels like high on weed for 7 days.
Also I've read somewhere that if you don't look back at your ride eveytime you park it, you've brought the wrong ride. Me, I'm a maniac, whenever, wherever I can be found staring like we Stare at our computers late night with audio off(watch Pogo if you don't get it)
