broken87: pretty weird, the way your bike's oil changes color.

still i will very strongly recommend to reduce the coolant level of your bike, its more than max.

regarding oil, from next servicing i will be shifting to motul 7100, since i want my bike to run on fully synthetic oil. although i will not recommend motul 300v in any case, but yes we should try 7100.

Definitely one of the best while being so costly. But 5100 itself is so good. I just don't feel the need for a better oil ? Give me one reason to go for 7100 or 300v instead of 5100 in future xD
It's all in your head my friend. Let me lecture on what happens if coolant gets into the oil bay. Over time, all the coolant will disappear and you can find your oil level way above maximum (since there's nearly 1.x L of coolant in the reservoir). Next you'll experience weird sounds from the engine. You might face valve failure, excessive wear and tear (since coolant is not a lubricant) and ultimately oil blow past the piston rings (due to the excess liquid in the crankcase). All this will be indicated by very low performance and FE.

Since your coolant level is OK, there's nothing wrong don't worry.

Lastly, Motul 5100 is for post 1st service period upto 6-7k kms on the odo when the last stage of the run-in is happening.
7100: Perfect for touring. Amazing engine protection at midrange and below. Lasts very long, say 8k kms!
300V: Perfect for track days or insane ripping. Lasts a little lesser than 7100 but provides much better wear protection to the engine at redline than 7100. Below 7k rpm, 300V and 7100 are almost similar so if you use the top end a bit less, 300V is unnecessary investment.
300V is an overkill for our puny 200cc engines anyway. It was actually made for those 600-1000cc engines which rev upto 14k rpms!
Sarcasm is my automatic response to stupidity.

• Pulsar 200 NS - Highway Run

Hi Everyone,
This is the first detailed review I am writing for the bike, so please feel free to give your opinion and guide me as to which points I have missed out on. I am 6 feet tall and one of the reasons I bought this bike 3 months ago is because I loved the fact that it was so tall!

I would like to share a recent touring experience I had with my NS in which I covered nearly 200 kms of Highway Roads all in the same day. This was my first highway touring after the first service and I learnt quite a few things about my bike which I never expected.Throughout the trip I was carrying a light backpack, wearing a helmet, riding gloves, jacket and proper riding shoes and was riding without a pillion.

I have read quite amazing experiences from people demonstrating how free revving the nature of the engine is and how the bike doesn’t seem to run out of breath even after crossing 120kmph on the speedo and honestly I have aloways thought that maybe it was just the sheer excitement of owning a new bike which caused a few reviews to be exaggerated (yes I know Im a big skeptic). So I was all the more curious to do some serios mile munching on this bike and see if it would live up to its nearly God – like aura. I have ridden this bike for nearly 1600 kms primarily in the city and this is my first serious highway experience. Here goes…

I along with a friend who owns an FZ started off on the highway where we had both decided to keep our speeds restricted to 80 kmph. We were wearing proper riding gear and after about 5 kms of docile riding we couldn’t hold back and let our natures get the better of us. The visibility of the road was high and it had few turns so the risk seemed low. I cannot express the ease with which the bike crossed 100 and felt unrestrained. Even going north of 110 the bike felt at ease and I realized that with the exception of the odd wind blast I faced the bike was absolutely composed. Truly it has a magnificent suspension. But I haven’t reached the part which made me its fan. The absolute astonishment came when it dawned upon me that I was going in excess of 110 on 5thgear at around 10000 rpms and IT HAD NO VIBRATIONS! It seems to defy logic that something so fierce, fast and agile can be so calm composed and refined at the same instance. It felt like both characters – Dr. Jeckyl and Mr.Hyde were at play in unison.
We also had a maniac overtake us in an Indica who purposely went by extremely close to us while we were doing around 90. Thankfully the bike remained composed despite the noticeable wind draft that the car created. Another brownie point to the NS!Though this also made me realize the inadequacy of the rear view mirrors.

The second part of our trip involved a stint in the rural areas and this was something else which was weighing down on my mind. Given that the mono shock is set at the highest rigidity to aid handling, I was prepared that my back would take an agonizing whiplash. Another pleasant surprise as the ride was not as harsh. Sure it wasn’t comfortable but to give you an idea of the road – we went for 15 kms and couldn’t go above 2nd gear, it was that bad. I guess what aids the ride quality is the height of the bike. This seems to assist it in doing a fair amount of off - roading while remaining absolutely balanced. There were places where we went through huge puddles of water and the silencer was submerged and the situation was not helped by the absence of any semblance of a road! But never once did I have to put my foot down, the torque in the lower gears was more than enough to negotiate all the undulations nature had to offer and I just glided over them.

The return part of the trip introduced me to a few more aspects of the bike. As has been said innumerable times the horn really is inadequate for highways. While overtaking trucks at night it pays to toggle the high beam rather than rely totally at the horn. Which brings me to the second aspect, the headlights. Personally I found them to be adequate and the visibility was quite enough for me to the extent that on the return trip I maintained a healthy avg speed of 80kmph (I don’t ride that fast at night unless I can see perfectly).

All in all a perfect ride which was enjoyable and made me realize that the money was indeed well spent. I haven’t calculated the mileage I got on the highway but in city I get a decent 40 kmpl which is again more than I expected. So to sum it all up – The engine is a jewel and the frame/suspension is the aptly endowed crown that carries it!

What I loved:

• Seamless Acceleration
• No vibrations even post 110 kmph (10000 rpms)
• Excellent Suspension

What I desist:

• Horn
• Rear view mirrors.

so please help.

Normally Teflon coating is done after 4-5 months of purchasing the bike.
Initally the new is good with the paint...

1250 km odo....facing vibration and noise problem from front console of the bike...cant really make out where exactly the noise is coming from, can any one help help it coz its really irritating me when riding without helmet as the noise is more audible at that time, also the noise frm the front disc is still audible at lower speeds even after telling the service guys at first service . The fuel meter never shows a proper reading should i change in the next service , does the fuel sensor comes in warranty so that i can claim it. Rest the bike is good, no vibration on foot rest or back seat, never exceeded 80 kmph and 7000 rpm yet, the rear tyre is crapy for emergency braking as specially on concrete roads , it just gets lock with no traction at all ... what should be my next oil change and at what Kms? motul or something else.. or should i continue you with dtsi only...guys help me about the console noise problem ...should i show it to service center ?

Svc guys are not gonna help you with the console vibes. I felt the vibes of console on my bike as well, so what I did was, i installed rubber gourmets between evry single bolt on the headlamp assembly.
Now those vibes have totally vanished
That headlamp assembly of the ns is an headache to almost every alternate owner, so do a DIY job or just learn to ignore them.

Here are some images of ns without headlamp assembly.
If you wanna do it, do it by first deassembling the headlamp assembly and install gourmets on every bolt.
Thank you.

+1 to that and I'd like to know where the rubber gourmets can be sourced.

It sure looks cool but, I don't think the pillion will be happy on a wet/damp road.
