Re: Pulsar 200 NS
My understanding is the reserve petcock intake is submerged in petrol all the times, as it is shorter, so switching to reserve eliminates the problem. That's the reason this does not occur when the tank is full, as the main petcock intake has a lot of fuel over it building up more pressure. That's why the bike acts the same way when you are running out of fuel and hitting the reserve.Originally posted by danny king View PostHmm, if its vapour lock, wouldn't the stuttering still be there even if I switch to reserve. The stuttering stops when I switch to reserve.
Next time it happens, try opening the lid as I suggested, this will prove if it's vapor lock or any other problem.
Sure you can, start slowly twisting the throttle before you release the clutch and you should slowly release it. There should not be any snatching and it should accelerate smoothly.Originally posted by sam9teen View PostThanks a ton man, but when you have to brake from 80kmph to 12-14 kmph then you cant accelerate at 4th right?? you have to atleast come to 2nd gear to do that.I am back!

Thank you, Cleaner. Re: Pulsar 200 NS
Don't worry. Finish your ride with your current engine oil. Keep the chain tight enough and get the brake issue sorted out. You'll be good to go. But drain the engine oil right after you finish the ride. Now this is not mandatory after every ride. Since by the end of this, you would have completed nearly 4k kms on the Bajaj oil (assuming you have this) it would be safer to go with motul 5100.Originally posted by sam9teen View Postfirst one- i am planning a trip to Kerala on 28th of dec, and trip is about 1500-1600 kms. I have only done frst service of my bike at 550kms. Should i get it services and change oil to Motul 5100 or should i return from trip and then go for the servicing and oil change??? as of now my bike is running good with 42-45 kmpl with 70-80kmph on city roads.
second question- How long can i stretch my NS without stopping on a highway trip?? I mean its a liquid cooled so how far can i go without taking a stop?? i heard on p150 one should not go beyond 100km in a single stretch. So at what interval should i keep stopping to keep my engine safe n sound?? (Sound plays major role here, i dont want my undwerbelly baby to sound rude to me
)
And now the gear lever problm, when i downshift fast, it gets struck or sumtyms it gets totally free and moves like nothing is attached to it. But when i press clutch and start downshifting slowly it works fine. But problem is that in case of hard braking i dont have enough time to downshift slowly and got into scenarios where i was standing in middle of the road with speeding traffic on the highway cause i had to slow down because a car took urgent brake and as cant downshift so had to stand still and then downshift as i was stuck in 5th gear and my speed was too low to pickup frm there. But SVC people say its meant to be downshifted this way only and my gearbox is perfectly fine. Dunno what to do, i am in chennai and dont even know their language.
I have stretched the engine to nearly 250 kms without switching off, but that was when I used fully synthetic engine oil and the engine was way beyond run-in. To be on the safe side, give breaks of atleast 10 minutes once every 100 kms. The engine oil you're using right now will have temporarily lost it's viscosity due to the heat and the break will help regain it's lubricating property back. But know this, the NS is capable of much much more.
Try blip downshifting to have more precise downshifts. There are N number of videos on youtube which teach you exactly how to. Even Ducatis have this downshift problem so don't worry about it
blip downshifting is the way to go.
Sarcasm is my automatic response to stupidity.

Replace what?Originally posted by yogesh_hooda View PostStill if that doesn't help then you may need to get the petrolT replaced as the main petrol intake area may be clogged with something whereas the reserve intake may be in good condition.
I don't think the main petcock intake pipe is clogged as the bike is new and it does not happen all the time.
Ah! blipping the throttle reminds me of my early riding days on the RX135, NS does seem to have some 2-stroke characteristics after all.Originally posted by Aditya N Bharadwaj View PostTry blip downshifting to have more precise downshifts. Re: Pulsar 200 NS
Hi All,
I've clocked 510km on my 200NS,
First 200km or so I did gearshifts on or around 3k rpm and kept the bike below 55km/h and then gradually increased gearshifts to 4-5k rpm and not exceeded 75 km/h till now.
Things I'd like to have done is change oil at 250 odd km's - now that the bike is due for 1st service can I switch to Motul 5100 or better stick with Bajaj DTSi?
Also, I'd like to change oil again at around 800-850 kms - again Motul 5100 or Bajaj DTSi
Pardon my ignorance if this has been discussed already - awaiting replies !
CheersNever argue with a fool, for he will drag you down to his level and then beat you with experience.

Re: Pulsar 200 NS
Almost. Tall gearing takes some of that away. It's so smooth and composed in building up revs. Doesn't go noisy and hooliganistic like the duke 200.Originally posted by Cleaner View PostAh! blipping the throttle reminds me of my early riding days on the RX135, NS does seem to have some 2-stroke characteristics after all.Sarcasm is my automatic response to stupidity.

The real fun lies in being the hooliganOriginally posted by Aditya N Bharadwaj View PostAlmost. Tall gearing takes some of that away. It's so smooth and composed in building up revs. Doesn't go noisy and hooliganistic like the duke 200.
BTW do you blip the throttle regularly when downshifting? I never did that on any 4-stroke motor. My experience with 4-strokes is very limited though.
I am back!

DTSI oil is not that BAD...
You can use it till the RUN IN Period..
Try to Manage with it till 2k kms..
After that switch to Motul 5100.. or u can also use 3100 now till 2k kms and then 5100..
Choice is yours...
