Re: Pulsar 200 NS Owners Review and Experiences
thanks for the reply brother. i have just one question how to tackle the engine oil problem at the service centre, because at shiva bajaj ghaziabad they don't allow use of any other oil. what happens if at service i say no to oil change and then change the oil myself at home? will it void warranty? and last query on the pulsar 200ns thread there are 1400+ pages so it is impossible to view all so please tell me the proper run in procedure. in the manual it is written that ride below 50 for first 1000km then below 60 upto 2000km. in my previous bike apache i rode stricly below 50 upto 500km then upto 70 for 1000km and after that gave short outburst of 100 110. and in ns there are 6 gears so if it advisable to ride 50kmph in 6th gear won't it harm engine?Originally posted by Aditya N Bharadwaj View PostLast edited by priyank.shishodia; 01-20-2014, 11:53 AM.

Re: Pulsar 200 NS Owners Review and Experiences
You can befriend a service executive and request him to continue the warranty for you with motul oils. Or you can ask him to continue the warranty without the periodic oil change (i.e you're changing the oil by yourself). Otherwise, if warranty is really a big deal to you and don't mind losing around 400 bucks (price of 1.2L of Bajaj oil), get the normal periodic oil change done and change the oil to your liking after leaving the service center.Originally posted by priyank.shishodia View Postthanks for the reply brother. i have just one question how to tackle the engine oil problem at the service centre, because at shiva bajaj ghaziabad they don't allow use of any other oil. what happens if at service i say no to oil change and then change the oil myself at home? will it void warranty? and last query on the pulsar 200ns thread there are 1400+ pages so it is impossible to view all so please tell me the proper run in procedure. in the manual it is written that ride below 50 for first 1000km then below 60 upto 2000km. in my previous bike apache i rode stricly below 50 upto 500km then upto 70 for 1000km and after that gave short outburst of 100 110. and in ns there are 6 gears so if it advisable to ride 50kmph in 6th gear won't it harm engine?
The 200 NS or any of the modern bikes out there are well built and robust. Their bores, pistons, valve train and OHC are laser cut to precision and this means the run-in doesn't have to be as strictly followed as you used to on older bikes like the first pulsar for example. It's OK to make a few mistakes. You can rev hard on day 1, but after fully warming up.
I know a few guys who've hit top speeds on day 1 and still, after months of belting hard, the engine is very free revving and returns good efficiency.
But just to be on the safer side, let the engine idle for 45-60 seconds during a cold start and around 10 seconds during warm start. And you can take the revs upto 7k rpm after the engine is fully warmed up. But take care to increase the revs slowly to that mark and use lots of engine braking. Stay away from drags or hard riding till first service. The speeds mentioned in the manual make the engine lug in high gears (and lugging in the initial stages is a very bad thing for the engine) so just ride normally.Last edited by Aditya N Bharadwaj; 01-20-2014, 12:25 PM.Sarcasm is my automatic response to stupidity.

Re: Pulsar 200 NS Owners Review and Experiences
so within 500 km just riding upto 4k rpm is enough for run in procedure? and after 500km upto 1000km upto 6k rpm. this would be enough i think. i enquired at the service centre there only bajaj dtsi and motul 7100 are available. should i change the oil at first 200 km myself? and how to change its oil filter? there is not even a single video on youtube about it.
aditya: would you like to give me any suggestions required after buying the bike? can i add another horn on the bike as the i've heard the stock horn is puny?Last edited by priyank.shishodia; 01-20-2014, 01:31 PM.

Re: Pulsar 200 NS Owners Review and Experiences
Guys , need help on 3rd service.
It says 3rd service is around 9500-10000kms or 240 , which ever is earlier . I completed 240 days a week back , but I am out of town and won't be able give it for service for at least couple more weeks. Is that fine ?
Will that create an issue ?

Goto diy request thread on the diy forum and one of the last few pages has the method to change oil filter. I would have posted the link if i was using my laptop.
You'll lose electrical warranty with a different horn.

Re: Pulsar 200 NS Owners Review and Experiences
Hi Everyone, i will go for second service on this saturday. My bike has done 4K on odo, an m stll running bajaj oil since first service.
My Service station only has Motul 7100 or v300. But i think 5100 wll be a lot better option for now.
Can anyone tell me where to by Motul 5100 in Chennai near Tambram?? Or any web site from where i can order in online??
Thanks in advance

use this outlet locator app to find several motul dealers at your place. and yes 5100 is the right choice for you.Originally posted by sam9teen View PostHi Everyone, i will go for second service on this saturday. My bike has done 4K on odo, an m stll running bajaj oil since first service.

yeah, duck down and go WOT in 6th gear and you'll see the RPMs climb further up, 140-142 kmph will be achieved easily.Originally posted by deep007 View Postwhat should be the maximum cruising speed of pulsar 200ns without stressing the engine..please provided me the top speed of the bike in each gear if some one tested it because i have achieved following speed.

Re: Pulsar 200 NS Owners Review and Experiences
No unless the engine is not on and the pilot or the main light isnt switched on the display wont lit up.
Ya you can change the oil yourself at 200 kms (also change the oil filter ) by yourself.. and you can pour in motul 3100 without thinking once during this change itself
Its a mineral oil and is what our bike demands during initial run in period .

Dont worry buddy. Ask the svc guys to replace the carb, do not take your bike home until they do.Originally posted by ledz3pp View PostIt is really disappointing to see these kind of things happen to a day 1 bike
.
Also forgot to mention the idling is set at 1.5k.

Re: Pulsar 200 NS Owners Review and Experiences
The display lights up during engine and systems check but goes off immediately after the check. The display only lights up after you start the engine after that. It is generally not recommended to use a synthetic or semi synth oil that soon. Ideally you can switch to a semi synth like Motul 5100 after you complete 1500 to 2000 km and to fully synthetic like 7100 or 300v (which is the best) after 4000 km.3100 is technosynthetic so you'd best wait until your bike is properly run in first. Use mineral oil atleast until the first 1500 kms.

Speaking of problems guys, I have a couple of issues with my NS. For the past week or so the ignition switch is giving me problems. When the handle bar is is turned towards the left side the bike starts immediately but when the handle bar is centred or towards the right I have to press the ignition switch 3 to 4 times for the bike starter motor to activate. Sometimes I have to keep the switch pressed for 4 to 5 seconds for the starter motor to start. Took it to the SVC this morning and the idiot mechanic there spun a story that all NS bikes had this problem. When I told him that this problem only started a week ago he said Quote " Winter season hai na sir battery thoda weak hota hai isliye battery se current motor ko aana me time lagta hai hence the delay in starting." Personally I think it was a load of crap but I was getting late for work so didnt argue with him. My guess is the switch is fine but there is a loose contact somewhere. Any idea guys? The second issue also started recently I keep getting a noise from the engine which start at the shift to 2nd gear and increases as i pick up speed. Again my guess here is that the noise is from the tappet and it is worrying me. My NS is around 4 months old and has clocked 1600k as of today and has never been ripped. The fastest I went on it was 80 and that too in a smooth and gradual acceleration and that was only one time and for less than a minute. Other than that I have never crossed 4.5k RPM. Anyone else had these issues? Any help will be greatly appreciated.
