@Cleaner @Anurag_ Thanks for the reply.
Went to the service station today and got the problem rectified.
The main mechanic (who came after we created a bit of a fuss, till then it was some kids with screwdrivers with no knowledge whatsoever) drained the carb and re-tuned it.
He also did some adjustments to the clutch.
Now the bike feels pretty good. There is still a little bit of lag in the throttle but manageable, will be going on monday again to get this corrected.
Rode about 65 kms today after getting those problems resolved, and bike felt awesome...I'm back to happy!

Im using 13T with an upsized rear tyre. It's perfect for both city and highway.
Well, the service manual says 15t front sprocket and 39t rear sprocket. Anybody care to count the teeth on your front sprocket?

BTW Aditya, what tire are you using and does it interfere with the tire hugger?

        I count fine. It's 14T.
I use Dunlop Tuff Grip 140/70-17. No imterference with the hugger but I dont use it anyway.

How much did that tire cost and any puncture problem? I'd like a tire which does not skid like the EUROSLIPS but not as soft as Pirelli Demons that turn bald in 10k kms.

About the sprocket size, it seems Bajaj made the switch some times back. The parts catalog lists the sprocket as 14t but service and user manual states 15t, I have seen some 200NS in late 2012 with 15t front sprocket but now they are 14t. Going to SVC tomorrow, will be asking the manager about it.

It cost me 3k but now it retails at 4.7k. Prices have shot up like crazy ive heard. Used the tyre for 5k kms now and the treads will hold for another 10-12k kms atleast. That's with hard riding but zero burnouts. For more sane riding it will last more. Using nitrogen, refilled zero times after installation. Zero punctures, which probably is because Mysore roads are good.

Note: the treads are almost as good as new. This pic was taken a week ago.

There wasnt a single 200 NS with a 15/39 config. It would be so tall that pulsar 180 would be able to accelerate quicker in a drag in such a case.

P180 with a torque of 13.20 Nm @ 6500 RPM ain't gonna outrun P200NS at a drag even if the latter is fitted with 15T sprocket.

You saw those test mules with rear drums? Those were 15T front, don't ask me how I know.

I wonder how 200NS would behave if fitted with Duke's 150/60 tire, the local MRF dealer has one for sale at 2,800 rupees.

The P220 has a 38/14 sprocket ratio (pitch notwithstanding). This is equal to 2.714.

The stock 200 NS comes with 39/14. This is equal to 2.785. Shorter than 220.

The stock duke 200 comes with 42/14. This is equal to 3.00. Much shorter than either of the other two.

Suppose 200NS had 39/15. This would be 2.6. Way too tall compared to the others.

Need I now explain why 200 NS accelerates a tad quicker than 220 even with lesser peak torque?

My NS has 39/13. That's 3.00. With overgearing effect of the big tyre, lets say the effect is similar to a 41/14. Which is, 2.92. Shorter than stock NS but taller than stock duke. Perfect for both city and highway. Results are evident from 0-60, 0-100, 0-120. Duke shines in all three, followed by my NS, stock NS and finally 220.

Test mules might have had 15T. Its part of the testing man.

That is a snap from the service manual, while comparing the 200 to 220 we need to take in account the primary reduction too.
The P180 out accelerating the P200 theory is okay, but we need to account for the extra 5Nm or torque 200NS possesses.

Anyway, since this is getting a little bit heated, no more posts from my side on this topic.

After changing the tyre if the height of the buddy was increased. And what abt the tyre pressure.

Motul 300v is the best oil out there when it comes to engine smoothness and protection at high revs. Below 7k rpm, its action is comparable to motul 7100. 300v lasts lesser than 7100 as well. I usually change my 300v at 3500 kms while the 7100 used to last nearly 5k kms.

Got my bike today, while I was overjoyed in the beginning, it was short lived.
                          Here's what happened today...
I went to the showroom around 4pm, the bike was standing there all washed, I did all the basic checks and found nothing wrong.
Then the sales guy filled the tank with a liter of petrol to send me off.
But the bike was facing problems getting started.
He said the PDI guys must have not connected the fuel line to the carb properly and pulled out the pipe (about 50 ml of fuel poured out of that pipe), he re-connected it and the bike started, but was still turning off if I were to wring the throttle a couple of times( not more than 5k rpm).
It was rectified and I took the bike and came home.

On my way home, the bike stalled and turned off suddenly, rear wheel skid to a stop ( I was traveling around 30 kmph), scary feeling as I almost got rear ended by another bike.
Had filled 5 lts of petrol as soon as I got out.
Then went to meet some friends and the initial problem came back...The engine turns off sometimes during idling if the rpm is got upto 2.5-3k.
It was hard to get the bike rolling with this happening...The engine was turning off more than 50% of the times.
Once I got past the 1st gear those problems were almost gone. 4 of my friends tried and found the same problem as I. even they found that it was really hard to get the bike moving as it always stalls and turns off.

I am a total newbie when it comes to the working of a bike and its parts but some of my friends who know a lot more than I, said that the "diaphragm inside the carb might be punctured" another one said the engine is being starved between 2.5 and 3k and the carb might need some tuning.
I will be going back with a friend to get this checked. What do you guys think the problem might be?
Have any of you faced this problem before?
It is really disappointing to see these kind of things happen to a day 1 bike .
Also forgot to mention the idling is set at 1.5k.

Bro this sounds like Deja vu to me! The exact same thing happened with my bike when I took delivery in September last year! The bike stopped 2 kms from the showroom and i called the showroom people, they came and tinkered with the fuel line and the bike started but it stopped again after 5 kms. and even I had put some extra fuel in the bike. I had to push the bike home. The next day i demanded either my money back or a new bike and they immediately replaced it with a new same colour NS. Later they said there was some problem with the carb.

Buddy whatever happens get the bike replaced!!!

Hey, my bike did not come to a complete stop, sometimes it used to turn off once the rpm hit 2.5-3k.
now the problem is rectified, I've already completed 200 kms. The problem seems to have disappeared as I've done 180kms after getting it rectified.
Good thing you got yours replaced, if you had to push the bike home.

hello everybody, i am planning to buy 200ns. just had few queries. after how much time should i use semi synthetic and fully synthetic in ns? how to tackle with warranty as the bajaj svc won't allow to use any other oil? in ghaziabad, the best oil available is shell ax7 and shell ax7 ultra. so should i use them? and please tell other options too both in semi synthetic and fully.my last query is that is the centre stand worth installing? do it causes any problems like touching road while cornering and any other problems? i have heard very bad reviews about bajaj and plus my one year old apache was stolen on 16th jan so i am worried too much that ns should not give too much problems.

Bajaj oil itself is a semi synthetic blend. Use motul 3100 after 1st service, 5100 after 2500 km, 7100 or 300v (depending on your riding style) after 8000 km.

Some service centers allow the use of motul oils.

Please stay away from shell oils. None of them meet the required grade i.e. 15w50 or 20w50. The w50 is the important number. Shell oils are w40. If you use a shell oil, your engine will get noisy and stressed out after fully warming up. Excessive ripping may lead to major engine damage.

Center stand is a good add-on for chain lubing or checking the correct oil and coolant level (by keeping the bike straight). The design is good and does not interrupt cornering at all. It's wise to have a center stand even if you have a paddock stand at home coz you may need it on the highway.

Coming to getting stolen, the NS or any bike retailing in the country are just as safe (or just as prone to these hazards). Ehatever happened with your apache was bad luck. This time you can avoid it by opting for a good aftermarket alarm / immobiliser. If looks dont matter, you can install a disc lock as well.
