Ideally you can switch to a semi synth like Motul 5100 after you complete 1500 to 2000 km and to fully synthetic like 7100 or 300v (which is the best) after 4000 km.3100 is technosynthetic so you'd best wait until your bike is properly run in first. Use mineral oil atleast until the first 1500 kms.

Speaking of problems guys, I have a couple of issues with my NS. For the past week or so the ignition switch is giving me problems. When the handle bar is is turned towards the left side the bike starts immediately but when the handle bar is centred or towards the right I have to press the ignition switch 3 to 4 times for the bike starter motor to activate. Sometimes I have to keep the switch pressed for 4 to 5 seconds for the starter motor to start. Took it to the SVC this morning and the idiot mechanic there spun a story that all NS bikes had this problem. When I told him that this problem only started a week ago he said Quote " Winter season hai na sir battery thoda weak hota hai isliye battery se current motor ko aana me time lagta hai hence the delay in starting." Personally I think it was a load of crap but I was getting late for work so didnt argue with him. My guess is the switch is fine but there is a loose contact somewhere. Any idea guys? The second issue also started recently I keep getting a noise from the engine which start at the shift to 2nd gear and increases as i pick up speed. Again my guess here is that the noise is from the tappet and it is worrying me. My NS is around 4 months old and has clocked 1600k as of today and has never been ripped. The fastest I went on it was 80 and that too in a smooth and gradual acceleration and that was only one time and for less than a minute. Other than that I have never crossed 4.5k RPM. Anyone else had these issues? Any help will be greatly appreciated.
Load of crap indeed.

1. The starter cable is getting pulled somewhere as you turn the handlebar to the left.

2. The connection to the starter motor must be loose. It takes 20 seconds to loosen the protective rubber on the connection, tighten the bolt holding the wire and put back the rubber. This connection is on the RHS of the engine. You can see a little cylindrical part behind the bore and that's the starter motor. This had happened to me once.

3. Either 1 or 2 or both have occurred.

The LOL part of the mech's explanation was the battery taking time to give the motor enough time to start since its winter the things people say to avoid work.

Please mention the kind of sound you hear from the engine.

Yeah Lol was what I thought too but then as I said I didnt have time to argue with the mechanic at the time. The sound form the engine is something like taktaktaktak at low RPMs. It gets muffled along with the engine sound when the bike revs around 4k rpm but I can hear it clearly when there is no other traffic around or when I am climbing a gradient. At higher RPMS the sound picks up and become a trrrrrrrr sounding noise. At first I thought it was the vibes from the console but I realized that this was something different.

Tak tak tak?

Are you sure its like a sewing machine sound and not like metal parts hitting or hammering one another (more popularly called pinging sound). Coz sewing machine like sound is from the tappets (and is minor) but metal pinging sound means the engine is knocking. Highly unlikely but im simply listing out the possibilities. Knocking will pretty soon result in seizure or other major engine damage.

Guys i want to change my bike's engine oil as bajaj oil 2000 kms old and engine is feeling harsh.
So today searched in Ludhiana and unable to find motul but petronas,castrol,mobil1,gulf etc all are available.
Please suggest the best oil other than motul.
thanks !

Lol thanks for the comparison. Its made it easy for me to explain now. Yeah its the sewing machine sound. No metallic sounds thankfully. Its like I said I initially mistook the noise as vibes from the console.

When I enquired about co setting and level, my mech said
Arrey yaar ye co po me kaahe guse pade ho, bike makkhan hai na. .? (Said yes) ,koi dikKat hai kya..?(said no) .phir kahe ki chochalebazzi. .apna bike bhagalo aur agar koi problem ho tab mere pas aau, from that day, I just ride my bike with happiness and none worries about a damn thing.

prince I think it's like 2.0-3.0. I forgot to post here but yesterday I went to my SVC to check CO levels and get it properly done by the experienced mech. My bike was running flawlessly, no issues plus it used to idle without any support in these extremely cold 5-8 C mornings in Noida like a FI engine does. so what was the reason ? I had noticed a great reduction in mileage, I was getting around 27-28 kmpl (mostly ridden in higher rpms) with my own AFR tuning. Before tuning mileage was like 35+ kmpl no matter how I ride. So yeah I got it checked by the CO specialist and the machine actually showed my CO levels over 9.99 and that's where the number stops and shows -.-- .. lol. The CO mechanic was shocked and reduced it to around 2.0. The bike still runs great but the pulling force is felt more towards upper rpm range, and yes the bike doesn't idle without support. Hopefully mileage is back to where it was, haven't checked it.

broken87, where is that mechanic with co facility, I'm exactly like in your situation, currently afr is messed up(works fine as performance, but I know it's not Optimized) and getting 28-29kmpl, now I don't have a issue with mileage, but I would like to have things adjusted as per science,

Castrol is what my mechanic suggested, if i dint want to go for motul. I dont remember the product name, but the cost was around 290 rs /litre

• is there a way to lower ride height of pulsar 200ns

My height is 5'6 and only toes touch the ground when I sit on 200ns.
is there a way to lower its height by altering or trimming the seat ??
will the changing of rear tyre help in reducing the ride height??
and also please give some reviews for the new dual color 200ns..
thanks

Your mileage should be above 40kmpl right.. Any lag in rpm range..

Suman Bajaj in Noida Sector-2 have a decent facility, try there. Mind you they don't service & do other checkings on NS in pro biking area.. instead in commuter service hall.. along with P150/180s and Discovers n all. That's where the CO facility is. Try it.. but be careful.. you know those flat spots can come up after CO tuning. can give the address if you'd like.

I dnt know about lowering the ride height .. but man you're gonna have alot of trouble moving through traffic jams where one needs to use his feet seconds after seconds.. may be with time you can adjust who knows.

@broken87....i too followed the general 3.5 turns out anticlockwise on my carb tuning and feel a difference in the pickup which i feel is much better in the lower rpms.
However, i sense that it is taking a hit in between 5k-6k rpm in 6th gears and the engine feels strained above 5k rpms.
Please advice if reverting back to the default setting of the carb will help in achieving better top end.
Also, i have still not checked the mileage after the carb setting.
Post this card seting i used to get 42-45 kmpl in city in mixed conditions.
