Hey guys!!
I decided to buy the NS and Im planning to book the bike tomorrow. I'm a bit concerned about the reliablity of the bike. I'll be using it for 5-6 years with great care and maintenance. I will not be redlining the bike all the time. So will it get along without any major problems??

Will get the discs checked too.. Thanks for the tip Anuj_Gupta..

Hehe I live nearer to hitech city here in hyd, traffic is a little too high.. and my ride timings (to and fro office) match school timings in the morning and office timings in the evening.. Can't take it to speeds then..

Secondly I don't feel like revving more than that with a pillion dude.. I feel ashamed to show how vibey NS gets after that rpm range.. :banghead:

My gf enjoys doing triple digits with me in less than 10 sec, and mind you, she never had complainted about any kind of vibes (other than mine ) .
Use motul 7100.
Have all nut bolts tightened.
And if even then your ns vibrates, then it's sorcery on your bike.

About to celebrate first bday of my ns, and I get 28kmpl (can tell you how I ride) motul oils lasts 1900kms with me, unlike 3000 kms, so with a ultra harsh riding attitude, still haven't faced a problem until now, even when I've met a accident at speed of 80kmhr and bike skidded on one side for about 50ms. Just change oil at regular intervals, then even if you redline it regularly 5-6years will be a bliss.
And a slap on all those faces which tried to stop me by comments like it's a bajaj, one year and then it's gone, even a r15 still can't overtake me.

1 dat ago I ended up on the wrong petrol pump (Bharatgas, was trying to go to HP) out of 3 consecutive ones, didn't want to just awkwardly drive out of it so as usual I filled the tank up to the brim from 1 indicator mark. The petrol pump seemed abandoned and no1 was filling petrol from there while other adjacent pumps had waiting lines. And after that today while riding keeping the accelerator constant, the bike was acting as if I was letting go of the accelerator and again accelerating. And also weird feeling as if the tyres were flat and I was still riding(not just the back but even the front one) , Can this be due to the shitty petrol not combusting properly in the engine causing loss of acceleration in between of riding?? After riding for 25kms I saw no leaks of oil. Oil level was perfect. Tyres were normal. I doubt the petrol quality. :-( any guesses what might cause it? My bike was recently serviced. Everything is normal to the eye.

Could be.. It happened to me before first service.. I filled in at an IOL bunk and the bike behaved similarly and the power output was low too..

Filling HP petrol now.. It feels lot better..

Well, first of all congrats, in advance for your ride....

Don't be afraid of any bike's reliability. The bike is made reliable only by a biker himself, by doing small but important weekly checks and by showing your love towards your ride. If you follow these, then you can easily have a great ride quality for 5-6 years easily.

So, when you receive your bike, just follow the proper run-in by keeping the rpm below 4k mark for 1k kms, with occasional bursts of power for a short duration. Also at each service, make it a mark to be at the svc and get your steed serviced in front of you.

If you follow all these above steps you would be proud of your decision, and would be a happy owner like all others in this thread.

The same thing happened with me too.
I used to fill at a bp pump on my previous ride, but never had any problem. But after purchasing NS and filling over there, I had the same loss of power, but I thought it was bad afr ratio. Then after hitting reserve, I filled up at an HP COCO, petrol pump. And voila!! all the hiccups vanished. From that day onwards, always filled up at a COCO, petrol pump.

And many times i have rev hard for more than a 10 minute and smell engine burnt but never heard the cooling fan working.SVC guys said it'll work after 3rd service!!?? what the f**k did they mean.Is cooling fan are only allowed to work after 3rd service.

Make sure you increase your throttle tiny little bit ( a.k.a blipping) before shifting to first and shift below 4000 rpm if possible.. ya as others say dtsi isnt totally bad otherwise they wouldnt use it in some premium bikes like duke . P.S you should have opted for motul 3100 gold 20w50 rather than 5100 at such low kms on the odo man.. no worries the next oil change will vanish this issue for sure
Cooling fan works if you are stuck in a terrible traffic jam .. like when you are constantly in 1st pulling your clutch , going nowhere and moving 10 metres after 2 minutes and loop.. thats when it worked for me at around 1600 kms on the odo.. haha that word by svc guy is totally hilarious ..

It will start only in traffic jams or rather slow crawling in first n second gear. At 70-80 km/h the blowing air is enough to keep it cool.

In my bike (27k old, running on 7100) it takes around 20 mins of idle for the fan to start.

As mentioned in previous posts by some members.. its being suggested that mineral oil in 1st 10k kms Help engine to set properly.. And after 10k kms use of fs is recommended..
I guess in my case mechanical parts of engine might not set in properly or may need some more time ..
I have no problem so far because of this and plus did a 450 kms journey yesterday ( nashik-rasyani-nashik ) ..
I change oil after 5-6k my riding style is like a getway driver :-P still oil ( using Castrol power 1 racing 10w50 oil) lasts 5k before getting rough ...
Life of engine.. I am skeptical about it maybe it won't be affected..

Climate difference doesn't vary that much the characteristics of oil to such extend that it'll give up here in just 700kms, I like my shifts to be precise butter smooth. Lets leave this as that depends on.you choice .
Most hilarious thing I ever heard, radiator works after third service. .? Hahhshahahahahahahhahahaha.

Dtsi isn't made for high revving bikes, reason why they use it in premium bikes is to make profit, they don't care how customer suffers. Cooling fan doesn't works like that. read down.

Fan never works at speeds of 70/80 as air itself is doing the job.

Why would you idle for 20 min. .?
Many people are literally confused about radiator fan working. LET me.clear some doubts.
1.What is oil cooled engine. .?
It is a type of engine in which most part of engine block, is covered with a hollow passage through which a liquid having antifreezing and high thermal conductivity, flows through it. Ahead a fan lies.
2. How does it works. .?
Radiator(aka Cooling fan) is placed ahead of engine block and covers the vents at that point from which coolant recirculates.now what happens is, engine gets heated while working, coolant is in surrounding, so coolant takes most part of that heat from engine, while circulating around it.now coolant needs to be cool down(Heheh) ,so a fins system (max surface area, max cooling) is placed at a point where it is recirculates. Now, Mostly natural air blowing while you ride at high speeds is enough to cool the coolant down, but when air isn't available in required quantity or you're in a environment that is blocking front air flow, THERMOSTAT COMES INTO PLAY .its a device that senses the temp level of coolant and kicks the radiator when coolant isn't getting cool down/reaches a high temperature at which it shouldn't be. Now, How quickly fan works depend on this little thing, as the. Lower temp at which its threshold value(temp at which it kicks fan) is set, more likely it'll turn fan frequently. R15 fan kicks in more frequently than ns, as its thermostat temp value is lower (Google it, run those mind horses) .
3.Why fan didn't worked when I did 130km/hr non stop for 4hours. .?
Told above, natural air flow is ambient (in our case) to cool down the coolant temp.
4.I think my fan isn't working as I was at a place, riding like in situations where it should 've definitely worked. .
First of all, check the thermostat, Mayne it's gone kaput and hence not sending signal to fan to kick in or maybe it's just your state of mind.
5. My fan worked only once in 5000,10000kms or 6 months. .why so. .? ,
Maybe you live in a cold surrounding, maybe you don't ride in a hectic place (like chandni chowk of Delhi, India) maybe you're relay is gone. But in most 99.9% ,it's first two reasons.
6. My fan never/ very low works, help me, I thing something wrong with my bike. .
Nothung is wrong, healthy running of your bike doesn't depend on constant running of fan. Why so, I think above faq would've solved that query.
Sorry for any mistake, if I've done and ask any further more queries upon fan if left. I think it summons up all radiator questions.
