  • Re: Pulsar 200 NS

Yesterday my 300km old pulsar had to run on reserve for a few kms. After this I realized that gear shifting had gotten very hard. Is it that the bike needs an oil change or is it something worse?

    thanks,

      Don't worry.
U will have your first service in 400km, and an oil change will help (first service). Till then stop worrying

Does duke body cover covers the 200ns totally? I want to buy one.

I brought locally a royal Enfield cover for 300 bucks
        Quality- 11 out of 10
        PRICE- 10 out of 10
Looked through many covers, but all just covered up to number plate, bought it and if you use this cover while bike is on side stand, it touches ground. build quality is so robust that one blow of blade may not make through it. Totally worth it.
And regarding chain cleaning, what to use. .? Wd40,kerosene or any other cheap alternative that doesn't damages my o ring chain.

Current ODO reading 8700 Kms .. Wanna go for 7100 but I'm so kanjoos (cheap xD ) I'm thinking of using 5100 for one more time. Because I have about 350ml of it left in a bottle. Getting just 1 ltr of 5100 (cost Rs 530 ) will do the job for this service. For 7100 I'm gonna have to get buy 2 bottles ( costs Rs 700 x2) because my service center do not stock 7100 20w50.
Anyone in Delhi know a Bajaj service center which stock Motul 7100 20w50 and use it for 200NS with pleasure ? how much do they charge for Oil change using Motul
I got my last service done at Bagga Link, Kirti Nagar.
They keep good stock of Motul 7100...

Got the excess engine oil removed and all things fitted well again.
              Bike back to kickass.
Only problem is there is a little jerkness in downshifting between 1-N-2 GEARS.
Guess that's because the grade 20w50 in winter. But didn't expected that from motul.
Nyways I love the totally vibe free NS.
now not even feeling handle bar vibes at 100km/hr(didn't went beyond that) and no tank vibes at even 50km/hr ( after that a little bearable low intensity vibe) .
Also on my way, witnessed a 220 crashing into a standstill car with a 5 yr old kid upon tank.
Jumped from my bike the moment, leaving everything and rushed for the kid, thank God neither the bike weight nor the rider weight was imprinted upon his body.I was so scared and when noticed that the kid looked like my little nephew, my legs started getting chills,
Inspected his full body on the spot, poor kid was in shock but no injuries.
Scolded the rider a little bit, gave kid a chocolate ( had brought that for my nephew) and bid farewell to them.
In my opinion, carrying kids on two wheelers should be banned and use of headphones while crossing roads too.
              Ride safe you all.

Clean the chain with diesel and lubricate with SAE 90 gear oil.

Kerosene is far better than diesel for o rings if ultra cheap cleaning purposes to be considered, also don't use gear oil, use tvs tru chain spray (350 for 500ml)

Whatever you say, the service manual calls for diesel and SAE 90 gear oil. Anyway, whatever floats your boat.

                      Just so you may know
That service manual Also Recommends Bajaj Dtsi oil TO BE USED TILL 10000KMS .

Or any other oil of right grade which should be replaced after 5K kms. There is two version of the service manual, the one composed for international use recommends the drain interval to be 2500 kms. Looks like they recommend a 10K kms drain interval because of Indians' "chal jayega" mentality. Okay use whatever you want for chain maintenance, after all it is your money, you may choose to spend it whatever way you wish.

Today I tuned the carb setting as I thought performance hasn't been upto the mark since past few days. 3.5 turns as u said Cleaner. feeling great improvement man.. Have to check the mileage though. And today I screwed up.. I brought these red LED parking lamps for show off to replace the stock halogens which already look uber cool to me.. I just felt like trying red ones and see how it looks. Alas the LED parking lamp didn't fit the hole.. I tried to push it inside abit but it fell down inside the parking lamp glass. such a stupid mistake lol. Now how to get it out of there ? Can the SVC mechanic do it ? It's still just a small little LED lamp inside but why not take it out if I can.
Also bought Motul 5100 for my next service, planning to get it serviced by month's end as I'm no in hurry. After the carb tuning bike is already running much better, feels smoother and more explosive

If you have a good rapport with the mechs then they do for free, they just remove your headlamp and shake it untill it falls hardly a 5min work. Mistakes happen, lol! It had slipped for me also once!
