  • A small ride report

@Chintan99 - Ya man, after a long time. Good to know that you will be regular now.
Me superb with my DESTINY (my bike's name). Not a frustrated guy any more

Observation on a 5 hour trip in congested traffic -
After 3 days of continuous rain, it was clear yesterday and Last night had a long 5 hours ride along with @toxicbiker. Sure there are lots of Positives.. However faced few Negatives as well.. Some of my observations [Mostly the negative points] -
    1) The bike gets heated in the bumper to bumper traffic, and can feel the heat especially on the left leg. (however, checked last night that the Radiator Fan is working)
    2) FALSE NEUTRALS while shifting from 2nd to 1st gear -it's a big time disappointment. It was there in my P150, but I think it's more in the NS. and it's embarrassing when the Cars behind starts honking
    3) Bike is superbly balance, and I can ride at even 2kmph without mt feet down. But, in case of sudden stopping (like the false neutrals), the weight shows.
    4) Riding Posture - i know 99% on NSians will totally differ with me in this, and I accept it's totally my personal way of seating. Actually I can't ride with my arms bent. So to keep it straight, I totally shift to the end part of the front seat. Now for that I have to lean forward, and that put's pressure on my wrist, and it was paining a lot after that long ride.
However, for few minutes I exchanged my ride along with @toxicbiker's Fazer, and it just felt Ultra-Comfortable.
    5) Very Bad LOW-END Torque - I had to shift to the 1st gear too many times, and whenever the speed fell below 6-7kmph
    6) the Float/Snatchy behaviour at 2k - 3k RPM. It always gives you the Horror feeling that there is no fuel left in the tank.
    7) the instrument cluster, and the pilot lamp going off with the engine kill switch, is also quite irritating, as again before starting you have to wait for the RPM needle to show it's flexibility. I just don't get - "For what purpose is the ENGINE KILL switch given?? that same could be done by turning the ignition key"

I didn't discuss the Positives Coz, a) there are too many, and b) those have been discussed quite a lot.

PS -All my above observations are compared to my Earlier P150. After the ride I adjusted the AFR to a bit more on the richer side. It is again raining today. So yet to check out the result.

    • I too agree with some of the points what shibadip told...

      1) The false neutral is killing man...
2)Wrist pain...not during long rides but during the traffic and continuous braking..
3)Have to clean your bike everyday...

but guys please try this....dont shift to second gear as soon as you start...
Let it pass some 3k and then shift to second gear and see the results..

During downshifting...i.e, from 2nd to 1st...try not to brake only at 6th gear.... downshift equally with braking......

these things will reduce false neutral atleast.........

@JK - Awesome work there! Reminds me of the RTR!

@Rahulbarik - read you bought your (would be)bike new shoes. MRF Revz?? Total Cost? (Dip got the rear tyre for 2450...same price?)

For false neutrals, adjust clutch cable.

As for position of your arms, they should be bent at the elbows at all times since it is the safe thing to do.
Advice is a form of nostalgia.
Dispensing it is a way of fishing the past from the disposal, wiping it off, painting over the ugly parts and recycling it for more than it's worth.

          • Did 1st service today at 650 on ODO..
Mechanic let me in the Service bay on spl request!! I told him that I am an automobile engineer (Actually...I am a Mechanical Engineering Student).
Asked him whether MOTUL or DTSi is better! He said that his answer might anger the showroom owner as I would probably ask them not to pour DTSi in my bike!!!!

Engine is feeling a lot smoother....

Even felt a change in the exhaust sound!! Started to touch 4k rpm today! Power of the bike starts to show after 3.5k !! Havnt crossed 65kmph yet!!

Bdw, 1st service was done at 480 inc tax./... 375 for oil, 65 for oil filter....rest was tax!! Water wash was postponed due to some prob with the water-gun! And "Water wash" also includes chain lube....! I am pretty sure that all this is FREE!! I am 100% satisfied with the my dealer!

Adjusting the Clutch Cable has been Suggested by other xbhpians as well.. But I can't do it myself. And I'm surely not giving it to the local mechanic to fiddle with my NS. Will adjust it at the SVC during the 1st service

I know that.. But believe me, I'm very uncomfortable with that position. It's like i have to keep my Arms bend intentionally, and it doesn't comes naturally.

He said, " We have serviced almost now 50 bikes, no one has reported any complaints as such."

2nd to 1st..?? Isn't it the "Neutral" and not false neutral.

You are probably saying that "you want to shift to 1st but the gears gets slotted into neutral instead of shifting to 1st".

Ya kind of what u are saying.. But If it actually slots to Neutral, Then the green "N" sign should glow up. Right..
But it doesn't glow, Thereby giving me the impression that the gear is slotted to the 1st position.
Also when u understand that it's just stuck at neutral, then applying more pressure dosen't make it slot to the 1st position. I have to move the bike a liitle bit forward by applying physical force, and then the gear perfectly slots to the 1st position. (I came to know this trick, from my P150 experience.) But you see, it dosen't seem to be all that simple when the cars behind keeps on honking as if they need to rush to the hospital to see their new-born child

@ANKUR - As i said there are far more positives of the bike than the noted negatives. So dont make ur decision just by looking at the above issue. Also most of them can be fixed in the SVC.
So be cool, and enjoy the waiting period.

Yeah I know but actually I have never been a fan of Bajaj. but his bike changed my thinking about them and i am sure same thing happened to many others. Pulsar always had trademarks and one of them is 'False Neutrals". I am just sad man

Guys why dont you report the problem to the SVC..and yes when you slot from 2 to 1st neutral is in between and green light should glow and if its not then there is some issue......report your problem to the SVC..they cant solve your problem take your bike to another SVC.....
