@ Others: What does Bajaj Cust Care says about changing oil to Motul or some other brand? Are they allowing without any concern on warranty or not?
    My message:
Hello Sir,I got my vehicle i.e., Pulsar 200 NS on 12th Sep 2012 from Khivraj Motors, Bangalore and the vehicle has been amazing ever since. However, in between I did face problems with gear shift.
Anyways the reason I am sending this mail is because I have been trying to get in touch with Bajaj Customer Care from a long time regarding Engine Oil.
My query is that I want to use Motul Engine oil at my first service. Whether I am allowed to do bring it at my first service or not?
Lastly what affect will it have on my warranty, if any.

Kindly do reply as I am nearing my first service and the reason I want to use Motul is because I have always used Motul in my previous bike.

    Thank You

    Reply:
    Hi Ankur,

Bajaj genuine Oil is what is recommended for the Pulsar 200NS as this has been made keeping the requirements of the bike in mind. Using any other oil will require different replacement times and this can also lead to issues with the warranty.

Suggest you use the Bajaj genuine Oil to avoid any issues in the future.

    Regards,
    Rohan

    • Ride Report : Offroad Onroad (Intense)

I am back from ride. Had been roaming around the woods of western coast. A N250R, a FZR and the NS on a journey with little or no roads.

Few notes about my Sonix BooM:

      Total Kms covered : 1749
      Top speed hit : 148kmph
Average Mileage of entire trip : 56.79kmpl

Report: Butter smooth engine. Revs free with the Motul 7100 FS in action. Silencer got scratched twice, once while going downhill and once while trying to go over a log. Amazing pick up and an unbelievable mileage figure! I did not expect 56.7kmpl to be returned under such conditions.

Now let the pics do the talking.

EDIT : And yes, people get attracted towards the 200NS much more than the Ninja itself! We always had a crowd of people around us through out this tour. Even police gets attracted to this machine which reminds me of an incident.

      Incident :

While returning we took highways to relish ourselves on some speed. While crossing a toll naka somewhere near shirwal we get encountered by 3 cops. They let the other 2 go but indicate me to stop. Being a law abiding person, I stop.

Cop 1: Where are you from?
      Me : Pune
Cop 1: Okay. Where are you coming from?
Cop 2: (Checking me gears) what are these guards jacket and how much does to jacket cost?
Me : Had gone to visit places. These guards would protect me if I have a crash.
Cop 2: How much do they cost?
Cop 1: Show me your documents. How come you ride a non registered unknown alien looking bike? Where is the silencer? Why you put pulsar as the name?
Me taking out the documents) This is pulsar 200NS new varient from Bajaj. It has underneath silencer . (Handing over the docs, which is currently like a tiny booklet)
Cop 1: (kneeling down and trying to touch the front silencer box and gets his finger burnt) This is very hot!
Cop 2: (taking the docs and pointing to the radiator) what is this green thing?
Me :Yea. It is very hot! That is coolant like you put in cars and there is this radiator too.
Cop 1: This is a defective piece. If there is coolant why it is so hot? Give this bike back else you may get hurt if it blasts. (Taking the docs from Cop 2 and shoving it back in my hands)
Cop 1 to Cop 2: Let him go. This bike may burst if it stands here for long.
Me : (wearing the helmet, start the engine and accidentally I forgot to put the gears so the RPM goes up while the bike stands still)
Cop 1 to me : Told you it is defective. Give it back now. Should I push the bike?
Me : Yes sir. Will give it back tomorrow. Yes sir, I think we need to push.
Cop 1 and Cop 2 pushes while I put the gear and lo here rolls the sonix boom! Wave them a good bye and off!

Was giggling inside the helmet the whole way remembering the incident.

Even I am getting the same mileage. I have not mendled too much with the AFR but for keep it on the richer side. Will tune it up this week when I go to SVC Center for adjusting my Gear lever and Clutch lever too.

BTW, I have noticed that people who have bought bike from Kalyani Bajaj, Mekhri Circle have been getting lesser mileage figures. When I enquired the SVC manager about this, he told me during the PDI, the engineer recommended that AFR be on the richer side. Thats why people from Kalyani Bajaj are getting lesser FE.

BTW, I have been experiencing pains on knuckles after riding in neck to neck traffic (Or where more clutch is used). I were gloves while riding for commuting between office and home. Now, what should be the position of the clutch and gear lever so that its comfortable for daily commute. I experience the pain terribly as soon as I wake up in the mornings. The possible reasons could be
            1. Clutch lever adjustment
            2. Gloves( I have been using Scoyco gloves)

            Any suggestion guys?

Did the bike max out at 148kmph? Or was there room for some more ?

And did you tune the afr to get such mileage?

Those mileage figures are possible for any ns i think. Mine is giving around 47-50 on my regular route to office which is 65km away, and around 53 when I checked on the highway (NH5)

                  • I went for a ride in the evening, after the rain stopped, and when I came back from a satisfying ride, I was my helmet top and back full of mud spray. NS has no mud protection.

There was room for more. I was really not at all expecting such speeds. Just wanted to hit a 100 and be back at 4k RPM when I started to twist. Things really started moving fast and I got startled (read little scared) when I saw the Speedo and immediately brought it down! Have done 100s and 200s many times but this machine does accelerate fast! I read somewhere, 'Its not about the top speed, but it is about how fast you reach the top speed'. This machine accelerates till the last bit of juice in it.

I did not let the service guys touch the tuning part as with experience of all my previous bikes and service centers, The SVC guys suck at tuning (I mean it).
I would better do it myself than let them touch the carb. Actually I did not even service the bike yet, only oil and oil filter change periodically.

About vibes, at 3-4k RPM 6th Gear there is a minute noise near the meter. Need to do something about the seat sometime soon. Can't really go on for long hours without a sore butt!

i dont think overheating for few secs will harm the bike. And p200ns easily gets heated up on riding it in traffic.

By the way my bike also giving small jerks while riding at constant speeds, can u elaborately say what was adjusted..

                          • here are the basics of clutch lever adjustment: It only adjusts the free play and alters the position where the clutch fully disengages. The one thing to be kept in mind is when you pull in the clutch, it should disengage fully at some point, it should never be touching the handle grip. Try adjusting and also keep in mind that when you release the lever, it should give you good feed back.

The only thing that will be hurting the clutch plates would be the clutch not fully disengaging, which will lead to early wear of the clutch plates.
