This is not applicable when the engine is 5k kms on ODO and is running on Motul 7100 or 300VOriginally posted by Shibadip View Post

[QUOTE=utsavchs;877679]That I believe is due to gear skipping. Dont be too soft while changing the gears. What oil are you using? is it by any chance the DTSi and has been over 800kms?
i have covered only 400km till day .... will change the oil after first service

Change IntervalOriginally posted by Shibadip View PostAre you suggesting this for the DTSI oil, or for any oil, (even if it is a goo brand)??
I agree with the Above when the engine is new, but is it applicable also if the engine had done > 5000Kms on the ODO????
Good Mineral oil 1,500 to 2,000 Kms
Semisynth oil 2,500 to 3,000 Kms
Fully Synth oil 3,500 to 4,500 Kms.
These are only rough guide lines, and actual change interval will vary depending on the Quality of oil, type of traffic the engine is run in,and the ride pattern/style....The more rough the use , the quicker the oil change needed. When Was The Last Time,You Did Something For The First Time.

i poured 1 litre of petrol when it went to reserve, I went to office and still the bike did not go to reserve. I do have a habit of resetting the trip1 to zero everytime it goes to reserve. and by the time it went to reserve again the trip showed 61. on usual riding ie, i maintain speeds of 80 on highways, it gives around 45 to 50.Originally posted by Shibadip View PostHe he..
BTW, how did u ascertain that the bike i giving 61kmpl???
I want to mention that I did not buy it for mileage, usually I dont ride like that.
I see that most guys are facing other problems like improper gear shifts and all, but I have not faced any such major problem. I think these problems are due to improper PDI by the dealers.Last edited by surampudijagadeesh; 10-02-2012, 09:49 AM.BreaklessBiker

1400 km done the NS and here's the story so far -
+ves
1) Boringly stable. It's so damn stable till the speeds that I've been able to take it to till date (i.e. around 100 kmph @ < 7k rpms) that I don't get the feeling that I'm riding a bloody 94k machine. It almost feels like a Splendor on steroids (no offence to the Splendor owners here)
2) Amazing amazing handling. Knee Touch downs are almost becoming a habbit now.
3) Deceptively fast or is that speedo error
but anyways I'm loving it.
4) The torque and power distribution at higher gears 4,5 and 6 is good. Can't say the same about 2 and 3.
5) Being a pervious Pulsar owner I know for sure that what ever vibes the motorcycle produces would be there, because (a) this is an Indian motorcycle after all with an in house developed engine and the technology has to a long way (it has come a long way already but still there's distance left) (b) this is not an electric engine and some sort of vibes are bound to be there because a lot of mechanics are going inside. So, put things into perspective and you have one of the smootest country made engine at your disposal, who, like the prodigal son always comes back with providence.

1) Buzzing from the front visor and that would be resolved soon.
2) The horn. Well can't do much about it as I want to protect the battery. The best way out is to improve my riding skill and reduce my dependency on the puny horn.
3) Slight vibes coming to the handle bar between 6k-7k rpm. Below that and post that there's nothing. I know this is not an issue for sure, but would discuss it with the service center during the next service and would surely go for more runs at those rpms in that time.
4) Unnecesary attraction puller and that has proved to be harmful as someone decided to put an autograph on the tank (I'm still trying to find that artist so that I can gift him an unusable limb of him)

today i took the bike to service centre to check if everything is fine as it didnt start yesterday. He checked everything. All seemed fine, then he checked the CDI unit, he opened it and reconnected it. And said CDI connection looked loose. I even complained about snatchy feeling at 3k to 4k rpm, and after he re-connected CDI unit, there was no more occurences of that snatchiness. He said that was might be because, CDI unit was loose, so spark wasn't getting current correctly, due to which spark was getting affected and I was getting this snatchy feeling. But he too wasn't sure.
Everything is fine till now. Except one problem of 2nd gear slipping when coming from 6th to 2nd. When continuously coming down from 6th to 2nd, 2nd gear engages, bike rolls for few seconds in 2nd gear then gear slips to neutral. He asked me to wait for some more days, and report it if it happens more, it happens very rarely with me, till now it has happened twice with me.

Is there any problem if I ride in the 6th gear between 45 - 60 kmph...? A friend of mine ( R15 owner) said, not to put 6th gear for speeds less than 60 kmph, and that will reduce the bikes top end performance in future.
How true is it...?
Also my cousin commented that NS doesn't have that much initial power compared to the 220 or rtr180,and that NS don't stand a chance against them in a drag( NOT REFERRING RACE IN THE CITY).
Can anyone comment about this....

AFAIK 200ns has good power from 4000rpm, and high surge in power from 7000 rpm. In initial rpm power is low. I think for drag racing, one revs the engine to high rpm from 1st gear itself...And there is no coming down from 7000rpm.Originally posted by Nithyan.S View PostIs there any problem if I ride in the 6th gear between 45 - 60 kmph...? Low power at initial rpm till 3500 rpm helps to drive it easily in city like a commuter bike. So according to me its a boon.
This video illustrates this is how u shift gear in drag. Its not exactly how, but it gives an idea how to. This video was taken to show top speed and 0-100 timings.
